Brit journo to face RWITC notice

Mumbai: The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) has decided to send a legal notice to British journalist James Underwood, the editor of European Racing & Breeding Digest, for showing the stewards in poor light while writing about the Boldenone inquiry, reports Shailendra Awasthi. RWITC wants Underwood to apologise and carry RWITC’s views in his publication. “The stewards have decided in principle to send Underwood a notice. The draft is under finalization. We took grave objection, not to his views on the inquiry, but for maliciousness of his comments which were both derogatory and defamatory, without reason, or provocation,” Jain told TOI.

Army promises full co-operation: The withdrawal of the writ by the RWITC in Bombay High Court has resulted in Army adopting a cooperative approach with regards to various disputes over the Pune Racecourse land. Last Saturday, Southern Command chief, General AK Singh, met Jain on the sidelines of a polo match at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and promised to ease the restrictions in Pune. “Both sides desire to work in harmony with regular meetings. The positive attitude of the Army Commander and Brigadier Jaswal is most welcome,” said Jain.
