RWITC brings the Symphony back to its lawns

Posted on - 21 Jan 2012

By popular demand, and in response to the overwhelming success of the show last year, the RWITC in association with the National Centre Performing Arts (NCPA) and Ashvin Gidwani Productions (AGP) will play host to the renowned Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) on the Members Lawns on Tuesday, 31st January.

The highlight will be the climax of the evening, when Shanker Mahadevan, a singer of national recognition, will perform with the SOI, for the first time ever.

The RWITC has taken upon the mantle to become a crucible for a lot more than just high-octane horse racing, and hence, has opened up its haloed premises for enticing performances such as these!

The Club has already played host this season to Marathi Banaa with the Lodha Foundation; Toumani Diabate with the ICCR; AVICII with Percept and more recently Sonu Nigam with the Rotary Club. These events helped showcase our premises before a new audience and gave members and the racing fraternity a chance  to enjoy a range of cultural and entertainment evenings, outside of racing.

The 75 member orchestra, conducted by the internationally renowned violinist, Marat Bisengaliev, who also serves as its esteemed Music Director, comprise some of the most talented classical musicians across the world. All that talent, skill, panache will be on display, and of  course the icing will be the grand finale by the incomparable Shanker Mahadevan.

The show will be followed by Cocktails and a culinary treat created by master chef, Farrokh Khambata of Amadeus and Joss fame.

Date: Tuesday, January 31st, Time: 7.30pm; Venue: Members Lawns Tickets: Members Rs 1,750 per head; Guests: Rs 2,500 per head

Enquries George Faria 98603 69009 or 23071401/7 ext 117
