Posted on - 22 Nov 2011

The RWITC, in its first serious community initiative, presents, in association with The Lodha Foundation, “Marathi Bana” On Saturday November 26th, in the First enclosure lawns.

The biggest production of “Chaurang”, a cultural group founded by Ashok Hande, “Marathi Bana” was conceptualised as a 70mm Marathi programme. Performed by 125 artists, the show is a unique and joyous expression of the culture of Maharashtra covering work, tradition and celebration. It is not a play, or a musical or a sequence of songs. It is a three hour journey of discovery that showcases cultural heritage.

Vivek Jain, Chairman, RWITC, said “ We bring this under our Tribe@Turf banner, that focuses to preserve and promote the sustainability of our city in terms of environment, art and culture besides other aspects. Marathi Bana is our first serious partnership to promote the community where we are based, and we expect an attendance in excess of 10,000.”

The program is organized by the Lodha Foundation and Mr Mangal Prabhat Lodha. Mr M.P.Lodha, an MLA, stated, “We are delighted to associate with the RWITC in hosting this event which is probably Mumbai’s only event that presents Marathi Culture in such grand fashion.”
