Hyderabad to Host WEVA International Congress
The 12th congress of the World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) has zeroed in on Hyderabad as the venue for their biennial congregation. This is the first occasion that the WEVA has chosen a venue in Asia, and it is indeed a privilege for the Indian Association of Equine Practitioners (IAEP) to play hosts to this global event.
A high-profile inauguration is planned with Her Highness Princess Haya, President, Federation Equestrienne Internationale, and wife of the PM of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed at 9 am on the 2nd of November 2011 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, HI-tech City, Hyderabad.
A large number of luminaries are expected to take part in this year’s edition and speakers from all over the world would address the gathering on diverse issues. The four-day assemblage concludes on the 5th of November 2011. A special section (Layday) is earmarked on day one and two for the “equine community” comprising the owners, breeders, trainers, officials and others from the fraternity. Medication infringements, Racetrack surfaces, Pedigree theories, Media and Horse Racing, are some of the exciting topics on the agenda, to be covered by a panel of renowned experts. A Welcome Dinner on the lawns of the Novotel is scheduled for 2nd November evening. The Gala Dinner is slated for 4th November evening in the pleasant climes of Taramati Baradari.
This comes as "one of a kind" continuing education opportunity for all those connected with horses in the Indian subcontinent. To increase National participation, a concurrent two-day small animal programme has been planned as well. This will highlight surgical demonstrations not commonly used in India. The main Equine Programme has the incomparable Dr. Jean-Marie Denoix with his "Live horse Ultra Sound Demonstration". Professor Dennis Brooks is sure to provide hidden insights to the Equine Eye. Sue Dyson, Dickson Varner, Derek Knottenbelt (OBE for his work in Animal welfare), David Frisbie and Hal Schott are some of the banner names on the programme.
Delegates from over 60 countries are expected to participate in the four-day meet.
