UNDER THE HAMMER
It gives me immense pleasure and pride that a personal dream of making the Mumbai sale a success is finally happening.
This year we had the patronage of Mumbai owners and trainers, as well as several prominent ones from Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai, which we have worked tirelessly to achieve.
We sold horses in the ring for an aggregate of Rs. 5.57 crore, compared to Rs. 5.17 crore in 2019.
More significantly, the AVERAGE PRICE PER LOT SHOT UP FROM Rs. 11 lakhs last year to Rs. 16.5 lakhs this year.
And the sale topper, or should I say SHOW STOPPER was sold at a record price of Rs. 41,50,000 to Mr Champaklal Zaveri.
All this was achieved in spite of 84 lots coming into the ring compared to 112 last year, because
1) the quality of horses being brought down is getting better
2) spread of buyers from all over India has increased
3) stud farm owners are recognizing the potential of the sale.
On behalf of my colleagues in the working group, I thank the breeders, owners and trainers who patronised the sale, and encouraged us to push harder for next year.
Regards,
Milan Luthria
