Mumbai:
The Indian racing fraternity has been waiting to hear about how War Hammer — the all-conquering colt from Bangalore — has taken his long travel to Mumbai? “He has traveled really well,” four-year-old colt’s trainer Prasanna Kumar told TOI on Friday.
Not many have attempted what the winner of all his seven career starts is trying to achieve. He is taking a shot at the Indian Derby, the biggest prize in Indian racing, within a space of seven days of winning the Bangalore Derby. Add to that the grueling journey from Bangalore to Mumbai. The concerned in the racing fraternity about his readiness were on the expected lines.
“It took him 22 hours to travel in the float (special horse cart) and all through his travel, my boys were sending me his videos. He was easy throughout the journey,” added the 49-year-old.
“He even worked well today (Friday) and I will send him for canter in the company of another horse on Saturday. He looks fresh as ever,” said Prasanna who has won five classics so far in is 17-year-old career.
Prasanna says he is not worried about how good are the challengers to his colt. “Since he is at his best, I am not bothered about the challengers,” said confident looking Prasanna.
