From the Horses Mouth - Race form Analysis Guide for Saturday, 12th October, 2019

- By Cyrus Naterwalla

Race No. 1 :- The Sir Sultan Chinoy Trophy – Div. II – Class IV & V – Distance :- 1400M

BEEMER :- 3 year old Leitir Mor colt trained by Dallas Todywalla who has run 7 times so far with a solitary success to his name. Quite highly regarded in his juvenile season, he was campaigned in a bunch of big races without success and failed to make an impression in his 4 runs there. He changed hands before the start of the Pune season, running his first race in new colours and promptly got off the mark in a 7 furlong maiden, brushing up to hit the front in spite of being slowly away and holding on narrowly from Polaris and Turaco. However, he failed to reproduce that form in 2 subsequent runs in handicaps, finishing well down the field and does appear to be a quirky sort. The only reason why he merits consideration at all is that he went a gate practice about 5 days ago where he jumped well from the gates and ended up clear of a couple of promising 2 year olds. Amyn Merchant is an interesting Jockey booking as he seldom rides for the yard nowadays but he was on him during the gate practice and if he can jump out well and reproduce the form of his winning effort, then he has a chance to add to his earlier success.

SHE’S A TIGER :- 6 year old mare who has a fine pedigree, being a full sister to crack miler and 2000 Guineas winner Phoenix Tiger and while she is clearly not from the same mould, she seems to have had little niggles throughout and has only raced 16 times so far. Her overall record is quite creditable having placed on 8 of those runs and after showing steady improvement with each of her 4 runs this season, she was rewarded with a maiden success last time out, beating Star Silver by a long neck over this trip. She has been kept fresh since that run and there is no trackwork for almost a month but a 4 kilo penalty seems quite fair. A. Imran Khan who rode her last time out is up again today and the yard has been in good form of late. If she remains well within herself then she stands a strong chance to repeat and looks one of the main contenders.

SUAREZ :- Formerly known as Pondarosa, this 4 year old maiden comes from the yard of trainer Vinesh and is winless in 10 starts till date although he has run promisingly on several occasions. After needing a lung opener on his seasonal reappearance, he went agonizingly close over 1200M on his penultimate run, going down fighting by half a length to Stick To The Plan and then upped to a mile last time out, again ended up a very close 3rd behind Fencing and Dazzling Eyes. This in between trip of 7 furlongs will possibly suit him best and after being ridden by the two top riders in his last 2 efforts, leading apprentice A.S. Peter has been booked to ride today. He appears to be in fine form at present and looks a strong each way prospect with possibilities of finally getting off the mark today.

PULVERIZE :- 4 year old gelding who carries the famous gold and brown silks of Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy and is trained by Karthik G. He has had 15 starts till date, taking his time to come to hand but eventually got off the mark on his final run of the Mumbai season, scoring by a length from Ebony over 1200M in the lower grade. He has had 3 runs this term, the first over 1400M and the last two over 1200M and on each occasion he has finished on to be just outside the frame. He should be fully fit after 3 runs this season and is not too high above his last winning mark so has the scope to progress again. He looks capable of scoring again and with stable Jockey Bhawani Singh in the saddle, could be an interesting each way contender at a good price.

EX’S AND OH’S :- Well bred and unexposed 3 year old filly trained by Imtiaz Sait being a full sister to well performed types like Athena and Firenze, she does not quite seem to have come to hand in her 3 starts till date but looks open to plenty of improvement. Making her debut early in the Mumbai season in The Usha Stud Million, she looked out of her depth and finished well down the field. She was put away and given time to improve after that, not seen again until August where she had a lung opener again over 1200M in Class IV. She looked like she had made some progress on her last start when upped to this trip and making a little progress to finish 5th to Nekhbet in what looked a decent maiden. She is likely to improve for that effort on just her 4th start and her subsequent workouts suggest that she has done so. S. Zervan who has been riding her in races and in work keeps the ride, she looks an unexposed youngster taking on mainly older exposed horses and if she can make further progress, then she stands a strong chance to open her account today.

PSYCHIC FIRE : - Formerly named Windsor Fortune, this 4 year old gelding trained by Narendra Lagad has a similar profile to Suarez, having run 10 times till date without a win but has put in some decent efforts this term after returning from a long absence. 3rd over 1000M when back from an 8 month break at the start of the season, he ran below par in his next 2 starts but hinted at a revival last time out when upped to 1200M and finishing 3rd behind Allegria and Bohemian. He now steps up to a 7 furlong trip and K. Nazil has been booked to ride. He looks to be an improving sort and is capable of upsetting if suited by the longer trip.

CONCLUSION :- A tricky opener to get things underway and difficult to find a clear winner. Ex’s and Oh’s looks a promising type who may just be coming to hand and if building on her last effort, has a smart pedigree and could prove too good for this lot. Beemer is enigmatic but showed promise with a good gate jump a few days ago and could trouble them all if getting off on level terms. She’s A Tiger seems the best of the older horses while Pulverize looks capable of upsetting.

Race No. 2 :- The N.K. Pudumjee Trophy – Maiden 3 Year Olds – Distance :- 1600M

ALEXEI :- Debutant from the powerful Pesi Shroff yard who catches the eye as a smart sort on pedigree, being a got abroad in foal to Born To Sea with the dam Sugar Mint, herself a High Chaparral mare who has already produced some useful types like Bogardus (5 wins) and War Hero (2 wins) in the UK. He looks likely to need this introductory run but moved well in a Mock Race in early September and looks to be a promising prospect. The owners seem to have a stronger and fitter contender today in Hokkaido but he is definitely worth a precautionary paddock check and looks capable of scoring first time out with S. Zervan in the saddle. Dark horse.

MONK :- 3 year old gelding trained by Sanjay Kolse who has run just twice till date and looks to have plenty of improvement left in him and did not appear to be at his best in his earlier run this season. He went into many notebooks on hid debut in Mumbai over 1200M when totally unfancied but coming with an eye catching run in the straight to make the favourite Rhapsody pull out all the stops before going down fighting by a long neck, the pair pulling 6 ½ lengths clear of the rest. He was understandably an odds on favourite on his reappearance run in Pune again over 1200M, but looked badly in need of the run and was no match for Properly Posh, ending up a faraway 3rd. He has been given time to improve and strengthen since that run and now steps up in trip to a mile. His workouts since the run have been quite decent and A. Imran Khan is an encouraging Jockey booking. He looks to have the scope to make further progress and if the mile trip proves to suit him then he is expected to run a big race and could trouble them all.

TRANSLATOR :-Once raced Whatsthescript gelding from the Nosher Cama yard who was given an introductory run earlier in the season, racing over possibly an inadequate 5 furlongs and not given a hard time to finish 7th behind Cipher. He should have learnt from that experience and stripped fitter and his subsequent workouts suggest that he has improved. He takes a big step up in trip to a mile now and with Yash Narredu taking over in the saddle from Akshay Kumar, is likely to give a much better account of himself and looks to have an each way chance if taking to the longer trip.

HOKKAIDO :- Poet’s Voice filly who is an owner mate to Alexei and is trained by Vishal Gaikwad and looks to be possibly the form choice in this field. She has had 3 runs so far, 2 of them during the Bangalore Summer and after making an eye catching debut in a 6 furlong maiden when she finished on strongly from the rear to be runner up to Ice Floe by a long neck, she was entered in The Mystical Million over a mile but ran disappointingly to finish a distant 4th to Speaking of Stars. Returning to Western India, she made her debut on the Pune course about 2 weeks ago, again over a mile and again looked green and inexperienced when finishing runner up to Pune Derby hopeful Rhapsody. She is likely to improve for that first run on the track and will be ridden by Neeraj Rawal today in place of Akshay Kumar. Today’s opposition looks decidedly easier and she looks a leading contender to gain a confidence boosting maiden success today.

CONCLUSION :- This looks a good opportunity for the promising Hokkaido to get off the mark provided she has progressed from her 2nd place finish to Rhapsody last time out. Monk appears to be the obvious danger if improving for the step up to a mile while the debutant Alexei also looks very interesting and could spring a surprise

Race No. 3 :- The Sir Sultan Chinoy Trophy – Div. I – Class IV & V – Distance :- 1400M

MY PRECIOUS :- 5 year old mare from the Karthik G yard with a fine sprinting pedigree but has turned out to be a late maturing type and seems to be more effective over middle distances. Winner of just 2 of her 22 starts so far, she looked mostly at sea in her earlier efforts over different trips before scoring a shock maiden victory over 1400M in December 2018, making all the running and just holding on from the late finishing Kingsman. She again went off the boil after that but began this season in promising fashion when scoring her 2nd success, a wide margin victory over a mile in this class, beating Jager Bomb by 7 lengths. She ran well next time out under a penalty when going close to repeating but being worn down close home by Daddy’s Pride who contests the Derby tomorrow. Last time out upped in grade and entrusted to A. Sandesh, she again ran respectably over a mile, finishing 4th behind Lorraine and drops back into this grade again now. She seems to go well with 5 kilo claimer A. Prakash who returns to take over from A. Sandesh and could prove to be a danger to all over this shorter trip especially if she is allowed an easy lead.

GALLOPING GOLDMINE :- 3 year old gelding from the stable of S.K. Sunderji who looks an above average sort and has run well in all his 4 starts so far and is expected to progress from his opening run of the season. He has run 4 times in total till date, running a promising race over 1200M on debut when 4th in The Usha Stud Million in December to more fancied stable companion Dandi March. He returned after a 9 week break to chase home Mystic Bay in a 7 furlong maiden finishing well clear of the rest and duly scored his maiden success next time out, rallying well to hold off debutant Wizard Of Stocks, the pair again well clear of the rest. He was withdrawn on his intended reappearance earlier in the season when injuring himself in the gates and made a belated reappearance 2 weeks ago, needing the run when finishing a good 3rd to Rhapsody and Hokkaido who runs in the earlier race will give an indicator as to the strength of that form. Considering the two horses who finished close to him are both contesting the Pune Derby, his form looks strong and he appears a strong fancy to return to the winner’s circle with C.S. Jodha in the saddle.

GOLDEN ERA :- Improving 3 year old colt who is trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha who is having an excellent Pune season and this Sedgfield colt also appears to be on the upgrade although his form is not as strong on paper as Galloping Goldmine. He too has run thrice so far, catching the eye on his racing debut over 1200M on the final day of the Mumbai season when making a lot of ground from the rear to finish 4th behind Golden Guest. He has been working well from the beginning of the Pune season but was unfancied when reappearing over 1000M on the opening day, making late headway again to finish 3rd to Turmeric Tower. Upped to 1200M last time out, he made the requisite improvement to score a bloodless maiden win, easily beating Splash by 3 ½ lengths and is sure to progress again. He continues to shine in his morning trackwork and his style of racing suggests that this additional furlong will suit. A. Sandesh who rode him last time out keeps the ride, but he does have a stiff 5 ½ kilo penalty to contend with and will need to improve on the bare form to be able to provide an encore. Strong fancy but will need to progress again.

DREAMS :- Well bred 3 year old filly from the in form stable of Nazzak Chenoy who has looked to have taken major steps forward this season but had to work hard even for her maiden success last time out. She is more exposed than the other 3 year olds, having run 5 times already and looked to have improved on her final run of 3 in Mumbai when finishing a close 2nd to Mirabilis over 1200M. She was well fancied on her reappearance here but caught a tartar in the impressive Elusive Star and finally got off the mark last time out when a short priced favourite but still having to work hard to wear down C’estL’Amour and only got on top in the closing stages. She should gain some confidence for that win though and in contrast to Golden Era, her penalty is only 4 ½ kilos. She has been working extremely well since the run suggesting that she has progressed again and with A. Imran Khan retaining the ride, she should make a bold bid to continue the winning thread.

SUPER MARIO :- Consistent and lightly raced 5 year old gelding trained by Shazaan Shah deputizing for Faisal Abbas, he has been knocking on the door for some time now, finishing runner up in 4 of his 8 starts overall and 4 of the last five, narrowly beaten both starts this season but in older company. Racing over 1200M on his seasonal debut he went down narrowly to Xoxo when a hot favourite and last time out, again came with a strong challenge but could not get by Pleiades ending up a close 2nd. The 7 furlong trip does not look to be a problem but he is taking on some good younger horses today with Neeraj Rawal taking over from P. Trevor in the saddle. He is likely to be involved in the frame again today and definitely comes into calculations but may have to wait to get off the mark.

CONCLUSION :- The 3 year olds appear to have a strong hand in this contest and the progressive Galloping Goldmine is selected to get back to winning ways. He needed the run last time out when finishing a good 3rd behind Rhapsody and his form looks by far the strongest. Golden Era is also progressive and shapes as the main danger while for those looking for more value, My Precious appeals as a value outsider who could spring a surprise if given a long lead up front.

Race No. 4 :- The Potential Champ Trophy – Maiden 2 Year Olds – Distance :- 1000M

BENGHAZI :- Full brother to the highly regarded Questina and half brother to Stormy Atlantic and Pacquiao, this debutant from the Pesi Shroff yard comes from a good dam line and must be respected in spite of not looking fully wound up at all. He has just been given a couple of gate practices till now and is nowhere near fully fit but like all of these, is definitely worth a second look in the paddock. S. Zervan has been booked to ride and although a couple of others may have an edge on him for fitness today, he looks a classy sort and may well be able to strike first time out so do not ignore.

MAJOR GENERAL :- Possibly the fitter and more fancied of the 2 runners from the M.K. Jadhav stable, this son of Air Support will be ridden by A. Sandesh and is arguably the fittest and also working the best of this lot. A half brother to Victoriana who won 3 races over sprints in Kolkotta, he has been given enough preparatory work to be fit enough first time out and also went a good gate jump so apparently knows his job. He is expected to take advantage of his superior fitness from a good middle draw in Stall 5 and looks one of the main contenders to succeed.

FLAMEOFTHEFOREST :- Trained by Malesh Narredu, this daughter of Speakingofwhich also appears to be all about speed and also appears to be one the more forward 2 year olds and has been catching the eye in the morning trials. Coming from a lovely family, being a half sister to Advika who finished 3rd in the Calcutta 1000 Guineas and Oaks and also Setaglow, winner of 3 races in Bangalore, she has also been showing good speed in her preparatory work and has bagged the plum rail draw to boot. She appears to be in forward condition at present and with Yash Narredu a big asset out of the gates, she looks set to make all the running and seems to be the one to beat today.

QUEENSHIP :- One of two runners from the stable of young Deepesh Narredu, this filly is a got abroad half sister to the likes of Shae, Rincon and Sky Mine and appears to be the fitter of the 2 runners from the yard today. She has had some useful workouts and has the benefit of having Suraj Narredu in the saddle today but Flameoftheforest has been working marginally better than her and she may have to settle for minor honours today. A paddock check is advised to ascertain her fitness and she looks to be one of the frame contenders but may find it hard to win today.

CONCLUSION :- With all of these running for the first time today, paddock looks and trackwork and pedigree to a certain extent will be the deciding factors. The two who appear to have had the most prep work are Flameoftheforest and Major General and slight preference is for the MaleshNarredu ward who looks to be a speedy sort and should hold sway today. Benghazi looks an exciting longer term prospect and although not wound up today, could spring a surprise if looking well

Race No. 5 :- The Piccolina Plate – Class III & IV – Distance :- 1000M
WILD FIRE :- Speedy but fully exposed 5 year old mare who is one of 2 runners from the Narendra Lagad stable and will be ridden by 5 kilo claimer Aniket Karande. All of her 4 wins from her 30 starts have come on this track which she seems to love and she has run 1 promising race this season, a couple of starts ago when leading for a long way over 6 furlongs and only tiring close home to finish a close 5th to Gazino in the higher class. Since then she has run 2 races in this grade but failed to show the same sparkle but she is very capable of bouncing back when least expected. Chances are that she will be found vulnerable in this large field against many younger horses and from a wide draw but she is capable of springing a surprise and would be a rank outsider who could knock off a lot of tickets in the Jackpot Pool.

SEA QUEST :- Another very interesting 4 year old got abroad gelding from the Malesh Narredu yard who has been finding his way back slowly after a major setback and has only had 3 runs till date. He looked to be a superstar in the making when making his debut in the Bangalore Juvenile Million (Grade 3) back in June 2018, scoring a glorious 6 ¼ length win over the likes of Knotty Ash and Athaneusbut was withdrawn on his next intended start in the Bangalore Juvenile Million and was off the track for 6 months. He made his reappearance after a long break and on only his 2nd start in the Bangalore 2000 Guineas where he was joint favourite with Mr. Handsome but finished down the field. He again went through another long break before reappearing in a Class I handicap in May where he finished 7th behind Knotty Ash and is now returning from another extended absence. He has the scope to be better than his current mark in Class III and is another who could potentially spring a surprise although likely to need this run. Worth a paddock check.

IMPALA :- 4 year old gelding who is possibly the more fancied of the yards 2 runners with stable jockey Dashrath Singh booked to ride and he has been running forward races since scoring an impressive success over course and distance a couple of starts ago. He finished a close 3rd to Between the Waters on his penultimate run and last time out may have suffered from feeble handling. He looks to be in good nick at present and shapes as an each way prospect in this competitive event and should be involved in the finish.

ADELE :- 6 year old mare from the stable of Nazzak Chenoy who has come into sublime form this season and is bidding for a hattrick after back to back wins already this term. Having a good overall record of 3 wins and 8 placed efforts from 19 starts, she began this season when just going down narrowly by half a length to subsequent F.D. Wadia Trophy winner Golden Guest and went on to pip Xoxo in a tight finish on her penultimate start. Returning from a short break 3 weeks ago against what looked a strong field, she showed a smart turn of foot to scoot clear and win convincingly from Gold Field in a smart time. She is up a further 4 kilos today and is also taking on younger rivals but she is currently in terrific form and another success cannot be ruled out with N.S. Parmar retaining the ride and a good draw in Stall 3.

NAMAQUA :- Speedy and lightly raced 3year old who has won 2 of his 4 starts till date and has had excuses on the other 2 occasions and looks open to further progress. Winner on debut over this trip in Mumbai, he did not run for a while before reappearing over 6 furlongs where he led for a long way before weakening to finish 3rd to Dandi March. He made a winning start to this season when a speedy performance when blitzing his rivals to win easily in the lower class and last time out, his 5 kilo claimer could not handle him from his wide draw, he travelled very wide throughout losing his chances and ultimately dropped the rider. He is again drawn very wide in Stall 13 but A. Sandesh takes over in the saddle today and should be able to handle him in spite of the draw. He looks a progressive sort who can win again and merits serious consideration today.

DANDI MARCH :- 3 year old gelding trained by S.K. Sunderji who looked an exciting prospect in his juvenile season, winning 2 rich races in his 4 starts and placing on the other 2 occasions. However, he has disappointed in both his starts this season, well beaten by stable mate Headway on reappearance and showing a little improvement last time out when a faraway 4th to Lesrel. All his 6 runs till date have been over the 1200m trip so it is interesting that he drops to the minimum trip today and C.S. Jodha has been booked to ride. He has been working very well since the last run so could be slowly coming back to form and looks an each way player if making some improvement.

SHARAREH :- Speedy and consistent 4 year old filly from the stable of Rehanullah Khan who has yet to finish outside the frame in her 8 runs so far, winning twice during her Mumbai campaign. She has raced over both 5 and 6 furlongs but seems to have better form over the former trip and she began the season in good style when finishing on to be 3rd to Lesrel last time out, ¾ length ahead of the reopposing Dandi March. She will no doubt improve for that run and strip fitter today although Kishore Kadam is not the most encouraging Jockey booking. She looks a good each way contender back at her pet trip and should not be ignored.

BONAFIDE :- Very speedy 4 year old filly owned and trained by Deepesh Narredu who excels over this 5 furlong trip and scored over it last time out with a feeble 5 kilo claimer on board. Winner of 2 of her 13 starts overall, she made all to hold off Silver Flames and score over this trip last time out and has been penalized 5 kilos for that win. She has been upped in grade now and is also returning from a 2 month break against stronger rivals but has once again bagged the plum rail draw and with A.S. Peter claiming a useful 2 ½ kilos in the saddle, she looks quite capable of providing an encore.

CONCLUSION :- These sprint races tend to be difficult ones and winner picking is hard but Namaqua seems tailor made for this stiff 5 furlong and should be better ridden with A. Sandesh in the saddle today. He is selected to get the better of the consistent Adele bidding for a hattrick with Sea Quest looking an interesting outsider at a long price.

Race No. 6 :- The Ashwamedha Plate – Class V, 4 Years Old & Over – Distance :- 1600M

PATRIOT’S DAY :- Sparingly raced 4 year old gelding who began his career with Vishal Gaikwad but is now in the care of Narendra Lagad and seems to be taking his time to come back to form. Having just a solitary success to his name in 12 starts till date, the win came over this trip and he appears to have come back down to the same mark now with a string of recent poor efforts. 3 runs this term have yielded precious little and he was fancied over this trip on his penultimate run but failed to make any impact. He needs to show that he retains the ability which gained him his maiden win and with decent claimer Raghuveer Singh in the saddle, has possibilities if bouncing back.

REGAL SHOT :- 6 year old gelding from the stable of Karthik G who has managed just 1 upset win in 21 starts, scoring over 1400M on this track way back in August 2017. Since that win he has run mainly poorly but his mark has come down as a result and he hinted that he was looking well handicapped on one run in Mumbai when he finished runner up to Laburnum over 7 furlongs. He has had 3 runs this season and while 2 of them have been poor, his penultimate run he finished 3rd over this trip. Bhawani Singh who has been riding him all season takes the ride again today and while he looks an erratic and unreliable type, he looks well handicapped to score if he has his galloping shoes on.
GOLD MAGIC :- Maiden 4 year old gelding who has showed a little improvement since moving from Imtiaz Sait to NiradKaranjawala and has run quite well in all his 3 starts this season. Winless from 13 starts till date, he began the season when finishing on late to be 4th to Lambretta over a mile with Hi Ho Silver ahead of him that day. He reversed form with that rival decisively upped to 9 furlongs next time out, just failing to hold off Power of Thor and going down by half a length. Back down to this trip last time out, he was well backed but could only manage to finish 5th to Fencing so does not seem to be completely straightforward. He has been working well for a while now and the booking of Neeraj Rawal catches the eye. He is worth giving each way consideration to in this field and can be involved if running upto his best.

HI HO SILVER :- Relatively consistent 4 year old filly but is also still a maiden and seems to be running upto the same level without really progressing. She has run 4 times this season, placing on the first 3 occasions but has to bounce back from a poor performance last time out. She seemed not to stay 9 furlongs when beaten by Gold Magic but seems to be quite effective over a mile and P. Vinod has been in good form this season. She may conceivably be taken to the front today in this field and looks capable of winning from end to end in this poor company so merits each way thought today.

CRISTO BOSS :- 6 year old gelding trained by Vijay Kasbekar who’s losing run has now stretched to 34 although he has managed to finish runner up on as many as 6 occasions. One of those occasions was last time out when finishing on late to be runner up to Eternal Dancer over 1400M and he should not be bothered by the step up to a mile. He is another who looks to have come down to a very handy mark but seems to lack consistency and has become frustrating to follow. He definitely has possibilities if putting his best foot forward with Amyn Merchant retaining the ride but is also unreliable and comes with plenty of risks attached.

WHOOPSIDAISY :- Front running 5 year old mare trained by Faisal Abbas who has managed to win just once from her 27 starts and is seemingly quite exposed but has run a couple of decent placed efforts in defeat and may have needed her 2 earlier runs this season to get back to fitness. She comes into this at a feather weight with N. Nadeem claiming 5 kilos and has possibilities of dominating from the outset if she is back to her best.

CONCLUSION :- Hard to pick a winner with confidence and this race is probably best left alone from a betting standpoint. The 4 year olds Gold Magic and Hi Ho Silver both look capable of winning this while Cristo Boss looks the best of the older lot if reproducing his last effort.

Race No. 7:- The Suresh Mahindra Trophy – Class I & II – Distance :- 3200M

RAEES :- Defending champion and winner of this race the last 2 years, narrowly beating Frivolous last time out, this 6 year old gelding trained by Imtiaz Sait has already proved himself to be a solid stayer and usually has the measure of these rivals on these terms as they have met several times in the past. Winner 8 times from his 27 starts till date, mainly over staying trips, he usually needs a run or two before hitting full form and last season as well, won this after 2 modest efforts in handicaps over shorter. He has had his lung opener this season over 2400M when taking on the same field and finished up last of the 4 runners behind Vulcan but he is sure to have stripped fitter today and should come on for that run. C.S. Jodha takes the ride again today, he is expected to come on from his earlier run and looks to have an excellent chance to complete a hattrick of wins in this race which would be a commendable achievement.

VULCAN :- 6 year old horse trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha who is also well performed winning 7 of his 30 starts and placing on 14 occasions as well for a good overall record. He has clashed with Raees several times in the past and has mainly been beaten by him but comes into this race full of confidence having decisively beaten these rivals a month ago over 2400M. He finished a close 3rd to Raees in this last season conceding 2 kilos and is now receiving half a kilo and also looks in better form so should fancy his chances of upsetting his old adversary. A. Imran Khan takes the ride today, he looks to be in good form and appears to have the best chance to upset Raees and looks a live danger.

FRIVOLOUS :- 6 year old horse who comes from the same generation as his 2 main rivals and was the highest regarded of the trio as a juvenile but has performed the worst of the three, winning just 3 of his 20 starts and seeming to lack consistency. He has flattered to deceive on a number of occasions in the past and although well placed on the scales, tends to be unreliable. Once such occasion was on reappearance when taking on seemingly weaker company over 2000M but he ended up 3rd in a 3 way photo with Oriana and Square Moon before going on to finish 3rd to Vulcan last time out. Yash Narredu takes the ride today and he would be given a good chance on his run in this same race last year but he seems to be an unreliable sort and percentage call is to pass him over.

CONCLUSION :- Raees and Vulcan look set to renew their rivalry and a close finish is envisaged between the pair. Frivolous can add spice to the mix if he is in a galloping mood.
