The Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby weekend is here, and all the roads lead to the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The 77th running of the Indian Derby promises a day of glitz and glamour with an unmistakable and unmatched aura. The event will witness the thrill of horse-racing like no other. Will the undefeated Sir Cecil amaze his fans and oblige a large following, once again? Will Adjudicate, the multidimensional sired bay filly assert her class and superiority and produce a thriller in a smashing finish? And is Star Superior likely be the star at the end of the day? It has always been fun to witness the excitement to the start of this race that draws in 30,000 people to watch the thoroughbreds as they emerge out of the starting gates until the homestretch and then gather brisk momentum to clock home an impressive win.
Other important races on this day that will draw attention are The Grade 2 S M Shah Eclipse Stake of India, The Grade 3 Rusi Patel Trophy, The Grade 3 Ebco Breeders’ Produce Stakes, The Dr MAM Ramaswamy Million, The B K Rattonsey Memorial Maiden Multi-Million, The Tattersalls Million and The Padmini and Gobind Jhangiani Million Trophy named after an affable couple who’s admiration for the sport was remarkable.
