The Little Hearts Marathon and Million steals hearts on Sunday
By Vivek Jain
If you thought it was only Kangana Ranaut, resplendent in blue on Sunday, who stole our hearts on the Sunday race day, you could be mistaken.
At the crack of dawn, and for a few hours thereafter, close to 12,000 children from ages 4-18, swept the Club's walking track for the rather appropriately named Little Hearts Marathon.
An initiative of the Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, partners associate with the event, and help raise funds for cardiac care at the hospital.
The first of the four races was The Turf Run, a fun race open to all. And it was a coup of sorts to get Ms Amruta Fadnavis, wife of the H'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra as the guest of honour of the Wadia Hospital. And the presence of Ness Wadia from the start showed the importance the Wadia family attached to this CSR effort. Not only was Ms Fadnavis appreciative of the Club's association with good causes but also promised to be our guest on one of our race days.
At the races in the afternoon, where hundreds of kids stayed back to watch racing for the first time, Ness Wadia applauded this joint effort and emphasized that not only he hoped to make it bigger next year but probably to do the marathon in the morning and the race over evening racing.
A day packed with so much, is so satisfying and the gratitude of all our partners makes it worth all the effort.
