Mahalaxmi racecourse comes alive with festive celebrations and spirited thoroughbred racing

Mahalaxmi has a unique charm and romantic appeal that makes it many people's favourite racecourse. It's where passion and fashion meet sizzling sport to create an exhilarating atmosphere. This Sunday, we will witness the 100th year celebration of the Rotary Foundation that promises to bring in a large audience like it did in 2014. Seven races are dedicated to this non-profit corporation that is supported solely by voluntary contribution from Rotarian’s and friends of the foundation who share a vision for a better world.
Mr. Janak Ram Jethmalani was a vibrant and vivacious person. He was an investment banker by profession, whose passion for racehorses was obvious to all. Anyone who has met him will confirm that he was one of the most open and friendly people in racing. He was a trainer’s delight as he never compelled them to show him results and always picked up the tabs with a smile. Janak possessed a phenomenal memory noting the details about all his horses as he loved them so much that he would personally visit them at the stables twice or thrice a week where he could talk at length about their future. Such qualities display his compassion for the equines. In that true spirit, the RWITC Ltd decided to name a race after him as a fitting tribute to a horse enthusiast, who was a club member for over three decades. This Sunday will mark the first running of a race named after him that would be run over a mile long distance, one that our friend will be watching from heaven, smiling down at the equines and sending them signs on how to run the race. His father, the legendary criminal lawyer Mr. Ram Jethmalani will be present to give away the trophy.
There's plenty to offer on day one of racing as the Mahalaxmi racecourse comes alive with festive celebrations and spirited thoroughbred racing. An unparalleled party atmosphere, live entertainment, fashion show, kids zone, gourmet food stalls and flea market that boasts of 100 stalls and a glamourous race card of 8 races is only likely to kick off the season with a festive spirit, where a merry and memorable experience will be had by all. There really is nothing in horseracing that's quite like being at the Mahalaxmi racecourse, especially on one of its many top race-days where the ambiance will be fresh, fun and vibrant. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a day out and to get a chance to see some exciting horses make their mark on the immaculate turf.
