   The grandest race of them all, with an unmistakable and unmatched aura, the McDowell Signature Indian Derby, continues its record breaking spree on Sunday when virtually all of Mumbai will descend at Mahalaxmi Racecourse.

   The UB Group—which has been sponsoring this mega event for the last 27 years—has drawn up a mindboggling extravaganza replete with style and sport, class and fashion. While a new champion will be crowned, the 25,000 plus on the lawns partake in a veritable carnival which makes the day renowned for its lifestyle innovation.

   The race will offer a purse of close to Rs.2.2 crore, which makes it one of the richest sporting events in the country. Derby Day is known to attract a huge surge of first time visitors most of whom then make the trip to Mahalaxmi racecourse an annual pilgrimage. A virtual treat awaits them as the massive 16,000 sq foot air conditioned tent will feature non-stop action by international tribute singers. Acrobatics by the famous Shaolin monks will be an added attraction. A Mercedes Benz is also up for grabs in a simple contest where one needs to mention first four finishers of the Derby race in correct order.

   The RWITC will stamp the day with an innovative Treasure Hunt to encourage first timers to explore the course and understand the history of the Derby. In addition, there will be spot contests and even a best photo prize linked to our new social media drive on Facebook and Twitter. A Nano car is on offer here. It will be a day of records, a day for hats and dresses. It is a day to see and be seen at.
