RWITC Cares on Lions Day
By Vivek Jain
It will be beauty of a different kind on Sunday at the races. After the glamour quotient went up several notches with the Miss India's and beauty queens and fancy wheels on Saturday, the RWITC will show its caring side when it associates with Lions Club to show its giving side yet again.
After the resounding success of its partnership with the Rotary Club two seasons ago which attracted a mammoth crowd, and it's several tie ups with social service organisations, comes a day dedicated to the well known Lions Club, with an all trophy card in aid of its corporate backers.
The races are named after entities which support children's health and welfare, environment, education and skill development to name just a few. The lions Club has arranged artisans and a carnival atmosphere, and also exhibiting its wide ranging social platform. The Lions will help raise sizeable funds with this association with our Club.
The RWITC is perhaps the only club in India that supports CSR in such a big way. The Indian Cancer Society, Sahachari, the Red Cross, Sneha, Cherish Life Foundation are just few recent associations.
To synthesise racing with charity is a great innovation of the Club. We will soon launch RWITC Cares as a brand to promote all such days under a common banner, a spin off the Green Circle Foundation we launched a few years back
We are privileged to be allowed to maintain and run racing on the splendid Mahalaxmi racecourse, and our willingness to step out of our comfort zone of promoting not just racing, but going well beyond to give back to the city has been the cornerstone of several initiatives over the past few years and shall remain.
