Big money set to spice up Derby
Times of India

It is time for the Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby in Mumbai. This is one race that attracts the highest attention. The title may be different this time but that will not affect its charm and non race-goers will certainly outnumber the racing regulars by a `distance' at the RWITC on Sunday, February 7.
With both United Breweries and United Spirits Limited joining hands to sponsor this event which will have a generous mix of glamour and horse racing, the Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby, partnered by Signature Packaged Drinking Water, will only get bigger and better. The record sum of nearly Rs 4 crores as prize money will add another dimension to the event.
At a press briefing on Sunday, Samar Singh Sheikhawat from UB along with RWITC chairman Zavaray Poonawalla and marketing chief Vivek Jain, unveiled the coveted trophy, which is inspired by the regal legacy of equestrian racing.
“We hope to close in on the record attendance with huge build up to Derby weekend with events, pub crawl, extensive media coverage and hoardings,“ said Jain.
“The people coming to Derby weekend will enjoy unprecedented entertainment, get an opportunity to win prizes and get to experience a carnival like atmosphere,“ Jain added.
The races will be telecast live on the Neo Network and a recent arrangement with Bloomberg TV will increase the footprint even further. The races will start at around 12:30 pm and will go on till sundown.
