The 36th Asian Racing Conference is flagged off

At a brief media briefing, the run up to the 36th Asian Racing Conference was flagged off at Mahalakshmi on Monday.
Chaired by Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, Chairman of the Organising Committee, present were Mr Surender Reddy, Chairman, HRC, Mr Harimohan Naidu, former Chairman of BTC, Mr Cyrus Madan, former Chairman of RCTC, Mr Vivek Jain, former Chairman of RWITC, Mr Harish Ramchandani from RCTC and Mr R.Ramkrishnan, Deputy Chairman, MRC.
Dr Poonawalla welcomed the motley audience, and encouraged the racing fraternity to participate in large numbers.
Mr Vivek Jain stated the Conference was an honour for India, and it was a great privilege for the RWITC to host it on behalf of TAI, adding this huge event comes to India after 20 years.
Mr Jain stated that about 700 international delegates would be attending the conference from across the world, making it one of the best in the industry. He added that it would be a great mix of education with fun and leisure. Mr Jain added the opening race day will see the presence of Princess Zahrah Khan, and will feature The Villoo Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Gr.1), The ARC Trophy, with a 1 crore purse, The Gool S.Poonawalla Million (Gr.3), The Breeders Championship of India Trophy, a new race, and several Multi-Million races sponsored by international entities, making it “one of the highest stakes days in the history of Indian racing.”
Some of the topics to be covered at the business sessions are - The Wagering Landscape, Breeding, Racing Media and the 21st Century Fan, How to Market Racing, Handicapping and Race Course Management, Drug Free Racing, The Rising Tide of Illegal Betting, Stewarding and more.
The Chairmen of various sessions include the Chairman of the Asian Racing Federation, CEO, Weatherbys, CEO, Singapore Turf Club, Director of Racing, Emirates Racing, Chairman, Asian Pattern Committee and other distinguished luminaries.
The opening ceremony will be held at the indoor stadium of the NSCI, and the social evenings at the lawns of Mahalakshmi Race Course. Performers include Shankar Mahadevan, a top end fashion show of 29 top designers, a Bollywood Night, an Indian bazaar, Sufi, top quality DJ’s and comperes topped off with food and liquor.
