Horses to Horsepower Contest from Sunday
Volkswagen Downtown in association with the RWITC presents the 'Horses to Horsepower' contest from Sunday. Starting from 26th December, things will heat up at Mahalaxmi. Because now, competing with thoroughbreds is some serious horsepower. The VW Vento and the VW Polo. Predict five horses in select races every Sunday and earn points equivalent to their tote payout.
And you could be setting the roads ablaze..!
Horsepower now has a whole new meaning at the Races. Contest Runs December 26th to March 20th, and the cars will be presented in the paddock on March 27th.
Steps to participate in the Contest:
Register your entry for the contest at the registration desk and obtain your ‘Personal Identification Number’ (PIN). Save the counterfoil until the end of the contest. You need to produce the same to claim your prize. The registration is a one-time procedure.
The contest is on the lines of the Jackpot Pool. You need to nominate winning horses of the advertised jackpot pool(If there are two Jackpots, then 2nd Jackpot) like you would for a single Jackpot ticket on every Mumbai Race Day starting from 26th December 2010 until the 20th March 2011 (both days inclusive).
Investment of Rs. 300/- on the totes entitles you to get the entry form on producing your tote ticket at the contest managing desk.
Fill in your form clearly by writing the numbers (numbers only not names) of the horses of your choice in the appropriate boxes. Also fill in every other detail asked for in the form. Ensure that you write your name and your PIN accurately.
Drop your forms in the boxes marked for the contest at the designated desks and get an acknowledgement stamp on your counterfoil. Retain the counterfoil.
The PIN No. can be used once a day only. Same PIN No. can be used for the days of contest as mentioned above.
The Contest runs through the Mumbai Racing Season 2010/11 – starting from 26th December 2010 to 20th March 2011 (both days inclusive). The cars will be presented on 27th March in the Paddock.
The contest is open to tote investors at the Mumbai Race Course only.
Nominate five horses of the selected races of the Jackpot pool for the day. The contest will be played on the Second Jackpot Pool whenever there are two Jackpot Pools declared by the Club.
If the horses you nominate affect a win and/or place dividend on the totes, you earn points equivalent to the amount announced as the payout on the totes on the corresponding horse/s.
For example, if the horse you have nominated wins and the tote dividend announced is Rs. 25/- on win and pays Rs. 18/- on place, you earn 25+18 = 43 points on that horse/leg of the pool. If your horse does not win but places and fetches Rs. 27/- on the totes for place only, then you earn 27 points. In effect, the higher the tote payout, the more you score! Only win and place dividends will be considered. Second Horse Pool payouts will not be considered.
The contest will be governed by the existing TOTE rules of the Club. All withdrawals and/or dead-heats will be as per the tote rules.
One PIN is entitled to one entry only per day. For multiple investments on the totes multiple PINs will be allowed. One PIN constitutes only a single entry (no permutations for this contest).
The drop box will cease to accept forms five minutes before the advertised time of the start of the first leg of the Jackpot Pool in question. Under no circumstance will any form be accepted once the boxes are removed from the designated tables.
If your entry on the form is unclear/scratched/re-written or raises doubts on the actual number of the horse, then that particular single race nomination will be considered void and no explanation/complaint will be entertained later on this matter. The decision of the management of RWITC will be final in this regard.
If you find any error on your tally, you are requested to bring it to the notice of the person concerned before the next race day or within 48 hours of the contest day in question. You have to produce the counterfoil of the corresponding date to entertain your claim. No complaints will be entertained after this stipulated time.
If we do not receive any notification from you by the said deadline, it will be assumed that the tally is correct and accepted by you.
In the event of two or more entry forms found with the same PIN, one form will be taken into account at the discretion of the management.
The contest will commence from 26th December 2010 and will conclude on 20th March 2011 (both days inclusive). The contest will be on every Saturday and Sunday race days only. The highest aggregate achiever of points will be declared as the ultimate winner. The result of the contest will be declared on the 27th March 2011.
In the event of a tie, participant who has nominated more number of winners will be declared the winner. A tie here as well will elect the winner as per the higher number of seconds then thirds or fourth places. Despite this if there is still a tie the bumper prize will be shared between the winners.

*All taxes as applicable to the Cars as on that day will be borne by the winner.
Dos & Don’ts:
Do write your details in block letters and legibly.
Do enter all details in correct slots provided in the registration/entry form.
Do ensure that you provide your PIN number in every entry form.
Do make up your mind early and ensure that you write clearly and test your pen before applying it to the entry form.
Do place your entry forms well before time and retain your counterfoil till the end of the contest.
Do co-operate with the Club and contribute towards making this contest a regular and enjoyable feature of the RWITC.
Do not scratch/smudge/overwrite in the blocks provided for horse numbers.
Do not crowd around the drop box area.
Do not be rude/abusive/ill-tempered to the attendant/s at the drop box tables. This contest has been created only to appreciate your attendance at the Race Course and the person manning the stall is just your friendly guide.
