The RWITC is pleased to announce a scintillating season-ending gala night to honour racing excellence for the year 2012-13.
The Tata Housing Western India Turf Championship Awards will be presented at an oscars style evening at the ballroom and terrace garden, The Palladium, on Sunday, April 27.
The house of Tatas, who hosted the very special 130th anniversary of the Mahalakshmi race course race day, have enhanced their association with the RWITC by being the lead sponsors for this unique event executed by Delta Lifestyle and Entertainment.
The awards under twelve categories will be calculated by a specially formulated point system convieved by Mohit Lalvani, a reputed racing journalist and an entreprenuer.
“The selection process has been based on some of the best practices followed by racing nations such as the US, UK, and Singapore. The idea was to create a platform of recognition for the true stars of the sport that is the race horse. I am hoping that people appreciate this, put aside their differences, attend the event and make it bigger year on year in honour of these great animals,” says Mohit Lalvani.
To add to the excitement, the winners in each category will be picked from a shortlist by an eleven member jury.
Vivek Jain, Chairman of RWITC points out, “The RWITC has great pleasure in announcing the Tata Housing Western India Championship Awards for racing excellence for the year 2012-13. The unique element is the short listing of nominees for each category by a specially designed point system, and the picking of winners by the jury to bring in a surprise element. Another feature will be the association with an NGO~ the Ability Unlimited Foundation, in line with the club’s focus on CSR. It will be a high end evening, a fitting finale to a terrific season.”
In keeping with RWITC’s focus on social endeavours, the RWITC will associate with Guru Pasha’s Ability Unlimited Foundation. This NGO helps children with disabilities lead independent and enriching lives. The highlight of the award’s night will be a breathtaking performance by the children of this foundation.
An art auction of racing photographs by Padmashree Raghu Rai will be conducted in aid of the Ability Unlimited Foundation.
This black-tie evening will be anchored by Mandira Lalvani, a familiar face on TV for cricket, horse racing and other sports.
The night will feature fabulous entertainment with Ashchandler and Ability Unlimited Foundation. The hospitality, drinks and haute cuisine is being done in association with the Palladium Team and Team Moustache.
