Some 3yo juveniles who should mature into Champion Sprinters
My Final Analysis: The sparingly raced and well-bred Jack Frost should perform well over sprints in Pune 2014 and should mature into a good sprinter.
Joshua (Noverre-Sharatila) Trainer: Bezan Chenoy
He is a very good looking and well-bred colt, who is very sparingly raced and who won his maiden race on 16/2/2014 – The 1200M Provogue-AGP Multi-Million at the long odds of 30 to 1 among a superb field of 10 good 3yo’s. The even money favorite in the race was Vision of Romance. In the race, Joshua lay 5th till the turn, accelerated nicely and hit the front midway in the straight to win remarkably well by a decisive 1-1/2L on debut in a good time of 1-11.31s. Joshua for his splendid debut win earned lavish stakes of Rs.6,00,000 after which he has been wisely rested and will probably run good graded races in Pune 2014.
His ‘Sire’ Noverre (Rahy-Danseur Fabuleux) won 5 races incl. Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes, Gr.1 (1600M) at Goodwood beating No Excuse Needed by 2 L. He also won Thehorsemouth .Co.Uk Champagne Stakes Gr.2 (1400M) at Doncaster beating CD Europe by 1-1/2lengths and TNT July Stakes, Gr.3 (1200M) at Newmarket beating Media Mogul by a nose. Although, His ‘Dam’ Sharatila (King’s Best- Shara) did nothing much and placed 6 times His Dam’s Tail-Line is a strong one , as it goes down to the likes of Sharamana who won 2 races at 3 in France, Euro 50,004 incl. Prix Minerve Gr.3 & Sharmeen who won 1 race in Fr, Euro 10,964:dam of 5 classy winners-
some of them, being-Shergar, champion 3YO in Europe in 1981, 6 wins at 2 and 3 Pounds 412,101 incl. Derby Stakes(Gr.1)& Irish Derby (Gr.1). Shernazar, 5 wins at 3 and 4, Pounds 67,820 incl. Geoffrey Freer Stakes, Gr.2 September StakesGr.3.
My Final Analysis: The well-bred colt-Joshua showed a lot of class whilst winning his maiden race and under the skilful care of the veteran Trainer Bezan Chenoy –Joshua will win many graded and rich races and mature into a Champion Sprinter.
Merchantofvenice (Glory of Dancer- Maquillage) Trainer: B. Prakash
This highly exquisitely bred gelding has run 3 races and won 1 race –The 1200M B.K. Rattonsey Memorial Maiden Multi-Million on Indian Derby Day, 2nd February, 2014. He won at extremely long odds but won a very rich winner’s purse of Rs.16,95,000 and the superb manner of his easy victory revealed that he is endowed with very good initial speed because he led from the word ‘Go’ and drew away to pulverize his 14 opponents in a terrific time of 1-11.34s. Then, in his next outing on 16/3/2014, Merchantofvenice could not make his presence felt, as by the terms of the race he was carrying a heavy load of 59 Kg and giving a lump of weight all around. So, after this race, his owners wisely rested him & will run him in the 2014 Pune Season in Graded races.
His ‘Sire’ Glory of Dancer was a brilliant Sire and has sired 2 Indian Derby winners-Hotstepper (2008) & Antonios (2009) plus he has sired several black-type performers & innumerable classy thoroughbreds on the Indian Turf. And His ‘Dam’ Maquillage is byDiesis out of Yashmak & the latter from 9 starts had 4 wins and 3 places with a career Earnings of a whopping $ 542,972 which incl. Vodafone Group Fillies Trial S-10f in GB (L), Flower Bowl Invitational H. (Gr.1)-10f (USA) and Ribblesdale S.-12f (Gr.2) at Ascot (GB).
My Final Analysis : The speedy and highly exquisitely bred Merchantofvenice is endowed with excellent initial speed and will perform well in Graded races in 2014 Pune Season in distances up to 1600M although his present optimum trip is between 1200 to 1400M. However, in my opinion, the speedy Merchantofvenice should mature in to a Champion Sprinter as a four-year-old.
Solomon (Rebuttal- Dhanab) Trainer: Pesi Shroff
He is a good looking sturdy colt, who is an early foal, has run thrice and has won 1 race. His victory was on 22/12/2013 as a 2 Year old viz. The 1200M Allah Rakhkha Trophy, which he authoritatively won as the favorite, in a good time of 1-12.18.
His ‘Sire’ Rebuttal [USA] won 2 races from 10 starts at 2 and 4 (1200 m. and 1600 m.), $ 145,150 incl. Evening Standard Maiden Stakes and placed a good 2nd in Shadwell Stud Middle Park Stakes, Gr.1, Guineas Maiden Stakes, 3rd in Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes, Gr.2, etc. And although His ‘Dam’ Dhahab did nothing much, hisDam’s Tail-Line is a strong one, as it goes down to the likes of Immense who had 5 wins, 7 places, 4 shows with a Career Earning of $ 123,434 incl. Little Silver Handicap (Gr.3) in U.S.A. over 8.5F and Itsabet who scored with 10 wins, 9 places, 5 shows all in U.S.A. with a Career Earning of $ 106,675 incl. 6F Prioress Stakes (Gr.1), 6F Colonial Handicap, 6F Wilmington Handicap and 6F Garden Estate Stakes.
My Final Analysis: After his victory on 22/12/2013, the well-bred Solomon had run in The Poonawalla Breeders’ Multimillion (Gr1) on 23/2/2014 where he finished 7th in the field of 11 runnersas he is still not mature. Then, he has been rested and one can now see the best of him when he becomes a 4-year old. So, in my opinion,Solomon will mature in to a very good colt in the 2015 Mumbai Season, in distances from 1200M to 1400M. Good rest for a couple of months will do him a lot of good and help him build up his anatomy.
