Mumbai: December 4, 2010
Mumbai: For the fourth-year in succession, the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) will bring the hugely popular Indo-German Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas Fest and Racing Carnival for Mumbaikars at Mahalaxmi on Saturday. It promises a feel of outdoor Christmas bazaar that is typical of German towns alongside top quality horse racing action. One can get a taste of Germany at the special Beer Garden and the F & B Area, where one can try a whole range of German specialties and drinks. Dozens of market-style stalls, selling everything from clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery and home decor to gifts, furniture, Christmas decorations, chocolates and dates at special prices are the added attractions.
“It’s one of the best days for the RWITC, where racing and a terrific carnival come together to bring the best of sport and leisure for the full family,’’ said Vivek Jain, chairman, RWITC.
There will also be Mumbai’s favourite performers like Gary Lawyer alongside an authentic German Band, Die Sulmtaler.
There will be a dance, magic, puppet, even a fire-juggler to add sparkle to the festive season. A kids corner, has also been set up where children can play basketball, assemble puzzles, get a tattoo or a caricature.
A new addition to the festival will be a giant refrigerated container, whose temperature can be turned to way below freezing level. The refrigerator will be placed at the festival arena for revellers to get a feel of ‘real’ winter.
