The 30th McDowell Signature Indian Derby 2014
The first weekend of February brings in a new champion horse of the country. The ultimate test of class and talent for a thoroughbred,The McDowell Signature Indian Derby 2014– the country’s most sought after sporting event, where sport meets glamour, will witness some of the city’s most sparkling glitterati descend on the lush green turf of the Mahalaxmi Race course in Mumbai, on the 1st and 2nd of February 2014.
The 30thMcDowell Signature Indian Derby offers the highest stake money for any race in the country. With the stake money increasing every year, the 2014 edition is expected to breach a whopping Rs 3-crore mark, the richest not only in the sport of horse racing, but also the richest for any individual sport in the country.
Besides the finest race horses on show, top international jockeys will be specially flown in by the horse owners to give their respective horses the best rider available. Internationally acclaimed jockeys will take on Indian saddle stars in a stiff competition to win the most coveted Trophy and the rich purse that goes with it.

While the bolting action and the charged atmosphere on the turf is certain to get the adrenalin gushing, a host of performers will entertain the race goers.
Adding glamour and style to the weekend are the Signature fashion shows. Prolific designer duo Shane &Falguni Peacock will showcase their collection, with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar walking the ramp as their showstopper. Designer SwapnilShinde, with his bold sense of style, promises a show to look forward to.
International performers Serenity Sisters will be engaging the audiences with their spectacular Broadway act. The groups of six performers are globally renowned for their unconventional and never-seen-before choreography. Asia’s leading lady magician Yong Tian has been specially invited on this occasion to perform some of her enthralling acts of Magic. Yong Tian’s performances feature highly visual magic and modern interpretations of classic oriental mysteries.
The derby weekend will feature live music with indie rock band The Mr. Printer Band playing some crowd favourites. The band has Aazin Printer (Vocals), Luis (Keys), Kristofor (Drums), Ruell (Bass) and Apurv(Guitar). Additionally, the popular Pop-Rock band, One Nite Stand, will also be performing some rhythmic blues, soft-rock and retro music. The band comprising of Behram (Vocals/Bass Guitar), Hemanth (Guitars), Neville (Piano) and Abhilash (Drums), is known for their energetic performances.
As always, the McDowell Signature Indian Derby will feature the luxury A/C hangar, replete with a flea market and carnival experience. The McDowell Signature Indian Derby is all about the best of Indian racing mixed with ultimate glamour and complete entertainment spread over two sensational afternoons – an eclectic mix that makes an impression and a lasting one for the rest of the season
