RWITC to investigate CD issue

Pune: The stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) have instructed stipendiary stewards (investigating officers) to investigate the audio CD issue, which has rocked the racing scene in the last few days.
After a lengthy stewards meeting, RWITC issued a press statement on Sunday. “The forensic lab to whom the audio recording was sent, has orally confirmed to the Club that the voice matches that of Martin Dwyer and a written confirmation will be sent to the Club shortly. The written report is expected in four to five days. The Club has also directed stipes to make inquiries and also seek the assistance of the British Horseracing Authority. Should any of the jockeys involved in the inquiry apply for a license, it will be considered only after the inquiry is complete,” says the statement.
An article published in a tabloid, based on CD, claimed that two of the English jockeys, Dwyer and Paul Mulrennan, were caught on audio tape trying to fix a race held in February 2010 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
RWITC chairman Khushroo Dhunjibhoy has already admitted that RWITC now cannot take any retrospective penal action in the matter.
