The first ever Prive Equine Racing Awards Ceremony held on the members lawns was a huge success, with an estimated 1,500 members and guests trooping in to watch the function.
Hosted by Tata Housing, it was an evening of song and fashion, interspersed with the awards in 12 different categories with 7 special awards.
Mr Vivek Jain, Chairman, RWITC expressed gratitude to the House of Tata for stepping in for the first time as a partner, and hoped the Prive Awards become synonomous with racing excellence in Mumbai. Mr Jain encapsulated the highlights of the season, which he described as "one of the best ever" by any racing centre in India. He stated this Awards ceremony was not only a fitting finale to a grand season but was an unexpected bonus for the Club and its members.
An AV was shown with the season highlights and a special feature on the horse of the season- Jacqueline. The connections of Jacqueline- M/S Vijay Shirke, K.N.Dhunjibyoy and Berjis Desai and her trainer Pesi Shroff won another round of special awards. A special lifetime achievement award went to retired veteran Shammu Chavan and Dady Adenwalla.
The entertainment revue was a dance and music medley by Russian dancers, a fashion preview presented by Provogue and a scintillating singing performance by Kavita Soni. The dinner was hosted by BJN Banquets.
