PUNE MEETING 2022, SEVENTH DAY, SATURDAY, 17TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

 

 (PENETROMETER: 4.6 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: GOOD)

 

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES TO 1600 METRES, 2 METRES WIDE AT 1400 METRES, 4 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES, 5 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES, 7 METRES WIDE AT 600 METRES, 8 METRES WIDE AT 400 METRES AND THEAREAFTER 9 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer Zadmal Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charge TARZAN in the 2nd race, at his own (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge STAR in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1(71) – THE NATIONALISTIC PLATE  - DIVISION II: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  12

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, PISA (Antony Raj S.) leaned inwards and went across AME (Prashant P. Dhebe) causing the later to check and drop back. Jockey Antony Raj S. has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 1000 metres, TEISPES (D. R. Shubham) got keen and due to a tightly packed field had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 250 metres, INTENSE BELIEF (Vishal N. Bunde) shifted out and at the same time AME (Prashant P. Dhebe) shifted in and they made contact.

 

Passing the 150 metres, PISA (Antony Raj S.) drifted out and carried TURMERIC TOWER (App. Mustakim Alam). After the race, Jockey Antony Raj S. reported that his mount was erratic after the start as well as in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey R. Rupesh (BETWEEN FRIENDS) reported that his mount jumped and thereafter tried to veered outwards, as such, he had to steady his mount. In view of the above, Trainer S. S. Shah has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race

 

After the race, TURMERIC TOWER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BETWEEN FRIENDS, SPIRITUAL ROCK & SILENT KNIGHT were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(72) – THE DR. K. VASUDEVAN TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  9

 

Passing the 400 metres, EXECUTIVE DECISION (N. B. Kuldeep) shifted in and went across BETTER HALF (Akshay Gaikwad) causing the later to be check due to which POWER OF BLESSINGS (App. A. S. Peter) racing on its haunches had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey N. B. Kuldeep reported that his mount hung-in despite his efforts. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

From the 300 metres onwards, OUTLANDER (R. Ajinkay) was observed to have been inclined outwards thereby carried RED CARNATION (C. S. Jodha) out. After the race, on questioning, Jockey R. Ajinkya stated that his mount hung-out throughout the race. As such, Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, EXECUTIVE DECISION & TOOFAAN were trotted and found to be sound and POWER OF BLESSINGS had injury on left quarter.

 

RACE NO.3(73) – THE MYSORE RACE CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners -  6

 

TAIMUR (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slowly losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey P. Trevor (SUNRISE RUBY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Pune Meeting 2022, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, AUGUSTUS CAESAR had lost both hind shoes.

 

The Equine hospital reported that KAMILAH had right eye injury.

 

RACE NO.4(74) – THE DINKOO N. CHENOY TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners- 8

 

At the start, CHIEFTAIN (K. Nazil, dr.5) jumped outwards and went across FLAMING LAMBORGINI (Antony Raj S., dr.6) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

In the final stages of the race, MYSTICAL ROSE (P. Trevor) hung-in thereby tightening OWN VOICE (R. Ajinkya) and QUEEN O’ WAR (N. S. Parmar). Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, QUEEN O’ WAR was trotted and found to be sound and RUBIK STAR was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(75) – THE DR. K. VASUDEVAN TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  10

 

Soon after the start, ZUKOR (App. N. K. Ashish) shifted in and went across BABA (Bhawani Singh) and bumped NORTHERN SINGER (J. Chinoy) who was unbalanced thereafter he clipped the hinds of NORTHERN SINGER and stumbled furthermore approaching the 800 metres the ZUKOR shifted out and carried BABA and PRINCE IGOR outwards thereby inconveniencing the former. In view of the erratic behavior of the gelding, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Saqlain (SOUP AND SANDWICH) reported that the filly veered out and also the saddle on his mount had slipped in the straight. As such, Trainer Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty saddling further, considering that the filly had veered out approaching the 200 metres the Trainer has also been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FIDATO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SOUP AND SANDWICH, NORTHERN SINGER & ZUKOR were trotted and found to be sound and SOUP AND SANDWICH had cut injury on right hind fetlock.

 

The Equine hospital reported that PRINCE IGOR & BABA had right eye injuries and ALMAS had both eyes injury.

 

RACE NO.6(76) – THE MR. GREEDY PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

Soon after the start, STAR (App. A. S. Peter) had stopped galloping and did not participate in the race. In view of said behavior and a similar behavior of the gelding in the mock race, Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to show his charge in 2 mock races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 1800 metres, KIEFER (A. Sandesh), EDMUND (R. Ajinkya) and GIMME (N. S. Parmar) was observed to have jostled and lost position.

 

Approaching the 800 metres, WALL STREET (Yash Narredu) shifted out and made contact with EDMUND (R. Ajinkya) thereafter WALL STREET shifted in thereby bumping and tightening FASHION ICON (Vishal N. Bunde) forcing it inwards on to VENUS (C. Umesh) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening TURECI (T. S. Jodha) causing the later to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing the 800 metres, KIMIKO (C. S. Jodha) shifted out thereby bumping KIEFER (A. Sandesh) causing the later to be checked thereafter Jockey C. S. Jodha (KIMIKO) further shifted out and carried KIEFER (A.Sandesh) outwards. After questioning, Jockey C. S. Jodha has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, BRAVE BEAUTY had lost left fore shoe.

 

RACE NO.7(77) – THE NATIONALISTIC PLATE  - DIVISION I: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  12

 

On arrival at the starting gates, at the request of Jockey K. Nazil, CAMILLE was examined by Sr. V.O. at the starting gates and found to be sound.

 

At the start, VICTORIA PEAK (App. P. Vinod, dr.5) jumped outwards onto CAMILLE (K. Nazil, dr.6) who inturn shifted out went onto C’EST L’AMOUR (Nirmal Jodha, dr.7).

 

Soon after the start, ANOUSHKA (S. Saqlain) shifted in and carried INDIAN CROWN (Antony Raj S.) inwards onto PERFECT MAN (App. Haridas Gore) causing the latter to check and drop back. After questioning all concerned, Jockey S. Saqlain has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey K Nazil (CAMILLE) reported that his mount was not galloping freely as such the filly was subjected to veterinary examination and was found to be sound.

 

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards a Stewards enquiry was held in this race. The reason being that after the race, Jockey J. Chinoy (REMY RED) reported that he was not ready as the start was effected, after hearing Jockey J. Chinoy, Starter and the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their own judgment decided to maintain the order of placing as declared by the Judge.

 

After the race, INDIAN CROWN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and was found to be sore by the right fore. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VICTORIA PEAK was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

The Equine hospital reported that ANOUSHKA had left eye injury (sore).

 

The Equine hospital reported that REMY RED had right eye injury (sore).

The urine samples of the winner of the 5th & 6th race, viz. SOUP AND SANDWICH & WALL STREET, and the special samples of TURMERIC TOWER (1st race), QUEEN O’WAR (4th race) & SENTINEL (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON “SIM SIM” IN RACE NO.55 – THE JAIDEV PLATE, RUN ON SATURDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER 2022 – APPRENTICE JOCKEY M. S. DEORA - FOURTH OFFENCE:

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th September 2022, having considered the report from the Stipendiary Stewards held Apprentice Jockey M. S. Deora guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount SIM SIM. This being the fourth offence during the current Pune Meeting 2022,  as per the Calendar Notification “Re “Use of Whip”, the Stewards decided to deprive him of the use of the whip in races with immediate effect from 14th September 2022 till the end of the Pune Meeting 2022 i.e. upto and including 6th November 2022.

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 17th September 2022, having heard Trainer Ivor Fernandes and viewed the video of the race, decided to reject his appeal.

SUB: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF (DOC MARTIN, DR.6) IN RACE NO.31 - THE SAINT EMILION PLATE - RUN ON 15TH AUGUST 2022:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 17th September 2022, having heard Trainer Nosher Cama and Jockey S. Zervan and having viewed the video of Race No.31 and keeping in mind the submissions made by Trainer and Jockey that the colt was hanging out and similar behavior of the colt in his previous starts, no action was taken against Trainer and the Jockey with regard to the running and riding of the horse, However, Trainer Nosher Cama was asked to asked to take remedial measures and to show the colt in two Mock Races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting with him to race.

SUB:   OBJECTION IN RACE NO.28 – THE AKKASAHEB MAHARAJ TROPHY (GR.3) - RUN ON 14TH AUGUST 2022 – CARELESS RIDING ON “JOAQUIN” – JOCKEY S. ZERVAN:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 17th September 2022, having heard Jockey S. Zervan and having viewed the video of Race No.28, the Stewards held him guilty of careless riding. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for two race days i.e. w.e.f. 9th October 2022 to 15th October 2022, (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race), for careless riding.
