Where racing meets revelry: Poonawalla Carnival promises grand spectacle

The stage is set for one of the most glamorous days on the Mumbai racing calendar as the Royal Western India Turf Club hosts The Zavaray S. Poonawalla Racing Carnival – Bombay Brewout Edition on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The much-anticipated event promises a perfect blend of high-quality horse racing, entertainment and lifestyle experiences at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
Organised by the Royal Western India Turf Club in association with the Poonawalla Group and The Poona Cartel, the carnival will showcase elite thoroughbreds competing for total prize money exceeding ₹3.50 crore. The race card features several prestigious events that are expected to attract some of the finest horses in training.
Among the highlights of the afternoon will be the prestigious C N Wadia Gold Cup (Grade 2), powered by Zavaray S. Poonawalla, which traditionally draws the top stayers in the country. Another major attraction will be the Maharaja Sir Harisinghji Trophy (Grade 3), also powered by Zavaray S. Poonawalla, a race known for producing thrilling finishes over the years.
Speed enthusiasts will also look forward to the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge, which is expected to feature some of the fastest horses on the circuit, while the Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes will provide an exciting contest among promising young runners.
Beyond the racing action, the Bombay Brewout promises to transform the racecourse into a vibrant social festival. Racegoers can savour more than 50 varieties of craft beer on tap, explore a range of food pop-ups, browse through a lively flea market, and enjoy performances by live bands throughout the day.
Entertainment has also been planned for those in the First Enclosure, where visitors will be treated to a colourful live dance performance by Colours of Lavani, celebrating Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage. Adding to the excitement, several attractive prizes will be up for grabs, including a motorcycle, a laptop, and food coupons, courtesy of the Poonawalla Group.
With world-class racing, gourmet experiences, music, and cultural performances all coming together in one grand celebration, the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Racing Carnival promises to be a memorable day for racing enthusiasts and social revellers alike.
