Odysseus unleashes brilliant run to claim Indian St. Leger

A longshot at 20-to-1 Odysseus, partnered by Neeraj Rawal, sprang a big surprise by winning the Indian St. Leger (Gr. 1), the fifth and final Indian Classic of 2025, held here on Sunday (Sept. 21). The winner is owned by Equus Racing, M/s. K.H. Vachha, Suhrud S. Jhaveri, Gautam Lala rep. Gainsville Stud & Agl. Farm Pvt. Ltd. & Berjis Minoo Desai. Pesi Shroff trains the winner.
Neeraj kept this son of Ulysses–Hidden Valley settled in second spot for most of the gruelling 2,800-metre trip. On entering the home straight, both Positano and Pyrite surged past him near 150-metre. But Neeraj rode vigorously to rally his mount and the colt fought back gamely to snatch victory by a length from Pyrite.
