Juliette bounces back to winning form -By Prakash Gosavi
Trainer Karthik, who had already led in a winner earlier on the card with first-timer Justin (Bhawani Singh up) to win the lower division of the P A d'Avoine Trophy, thus scored a brace. His performance was matched by two other trainers: Hosidar Daji and Dallas Todywalla.
Juliette, trained by Karthik G, moved up fluently around the final turn to take charge of the proceedings, and then sailed away for a comfortable victory in the Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia Trophy (Gr 3), the feature event of Sunday's eight-race card. The six-year-old mare, bred at the Tohana stud farm, clocked 1m:49.217s for the nine-furlong trip.
Trainer Karthik's other horse in the fray, Blazing Bay, ran like a scalded cat to assume command and lead by a street over the rest, both Juliette (CS Jodha up) and favourite Zuccarelli (P Trevor up) content to stay at the rear end for most part of the trip. Juliette was the first to make a move after crossing the 800m marker. By the time Trevor loosened his grip on Zuccarelli and asked him to go after Juliette, the latter had already assumed winning momentum. And despite Trevor's all-out effort, Zuccarelli was not able to challenge Juliette, who imperiously sailed away to the winning post in solitary splendour.

Daji's two winners were Mysterious Girl (Kirtish Bhagat up, the RR Komandur Plate) and Chat (NS Parmar, the Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa-Area Trophy). Todywalla led in 2y old Portofino Bay (A Sandesh up), who posted a smashing victory in the Kheem Singh Gold Cup; and followed it up with Intense Belief (P Trevor up) who annexed the A Geddis Plate.
