PUNE MEETING 2026, FOURTH RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 29TH AUGUST, 2026.

 

 (PENETROMETER: 4.4 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: CLOUDY)

 

RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION. RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METERS WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

RACE NO.1 (58) – THE AZZURRO PLATE: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

At the start, SON OF A GUN (A. Prakash, dr.3) jumped outwards, at the same time LIBAN (App. Aditya Waydande dr.4) jumped inwards and they made contact.

 

Passing the 300 metres, MANOR HOUSE (S. G. Prasad) shifted out and went across AZURE (Antony Raj S.) causing the latter to check and drop back due to which SON OF A GUN (A. Prakash) racing on its haunches was observed to have clipped the former and stumble causing the latter to be steadied. After the race on questioning, Jockey S. G. Prasad stated that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey Antony Raj S. (AZURE) reported that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

MANOR HOUSE was observed to have injuries on both its hind fetlocks.

 

RACE NO.2 (59) – THE J. E. HUGHES TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

SOVEREIGN KING (Antony Raj S. dr.1) lost about a length at the start.

 

Passing the 1400 metres, SOVEREIGN KING (Antony Raj S.) shifted out and carried MOJITO (N. S. Parmar) outwards. Jockey Antony Raj S. has been cautioned.

 

In the final stages of the race, CHAGALL (Vivek G.) shifted in under the use of whip and went onto FIGHTON (Prashant P. Dhebe), thereafter Jockey Vivek G. was observed to have lost his reins momentarily which he regained. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Vivek G. has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

 

Jockey Vivek G. (CHAGALL) was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner passing the 100 metres. This being his second offence during the current Pune Meeting 2026, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey Antony Raj S. (SOVEREIGN KING) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

The mouth of SOVEREIGN KING was examined, found to be sound and no abnormality was detected.

 

CHAGALL was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock and no other abnormality was detected.

 

RACE NO.3 (60) – THE EVALDO PLATE:  (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

After being stalled, SPANISH EYES (P. Trevor, dr.6) was not allowing its rider to settle. In view of a similar behavior of the mare where she was accepted race, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, ASHWA GYPSY (App. Haridas Gore, dr.3) jumped outwards onto DON JULIO (Neeraj Rawal, dr.4) who further shifted out onto SENECA (App. Ramswarup, dr.5) thereby brushing the haunches of SPANISH EYES (P. Trevor, dr.6).

 

Soon after the start, MANSA MUSA (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted out at the same time DON JULIO (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in thereby tightening ASHWA GYPSY (App. Haridas Gore) for room causing the latter to be checked. Jockey Neeraj Rawal and App. Aditya Waydande have been cautioned.

 

Passing the 400 metres, MANSA MUSA (App. Aditya Waydande) was observed to have lost its footing and stumble thereby dislodging its rider. Subsequently, the gelding was examined by the Club’s Sr. V. O. and was found to have an injury on its left hind stifle along with a swelling at its left fore shoulder and a crepetah soul, accordingly treatment was administered in the Equine Hospital but as the gelding was unable to get up, with the consent of Trainer Behram Cama the gelding was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.

 

Passing the 200 metres, SENECA (App. Ramswarup) shifted in under pressure thereby carrying SPANISH EYES (P. Trevor) inwards. After the race on questioning, App. Ramswarup reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. As such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey S. G. Prasad (DESTROYER) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, the horse was subject to veterinary examination and found to be sound, the explanation was noted.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

DON JULIO was observed to have an injury on its left hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.4 (61) – THE STAR TRAINER PLATE: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

In the process of stalling, VILLANELLE (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.5) was fractious and dislodged its rider. As Jockey Akshay Gaikwad was fit to ride, he was permitted to fulfill his riding engagement.

 

ASHWA BRAZIL (A. S. Peter dr.2) lost about three lengths at the start. As such, Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, STORM CLOUD (App. Avinash Paswan) shifted in and went across GUNFIRE (Yash Narredu) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Avinash Paswan has been fined Rs.1,000/-, for shifting in before the red marker.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey A. S. Peter (ASHWA BRAZIL) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Yash Narredu (GUNFIRE) lodged a complaint against App. Avinash Paswan (STORM CLOUD) for carrying him out in the race. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

VILLANELLE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

GUNFIRE was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock and was also observed to have a small growth on its left upper jaw, before the premolars.

 

DARCY was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

ASHWA BRAZIL was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its right fore pastern and a gum injury.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

EASTERN MONARCH & ADMIRABLE sustained a right eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.5 (62) – THE NOSHIR & DOLLY DHUNJIBHOY SPRINT MILLION: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

SHAMBALA (Antony Raj S.) was observed to have lost its right hind shoe.

 

RACE NO.6 (63) – THE IDAR GOLD TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

At the start, ARRIVED (P. Trevor dr.3) jumped outwards at the same time KINGS GAMBIT (Yash Narredu dr. 5) jumped inwards thereby tightening DREAM ALLIANCE (Neeraj Rawal dr.4) drawn between them, causing the latter to check and drop back.

 

Jockey R. Ajinkya (DUKE OF TUSCANY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2026, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey Yash Narredu (KINGS GAMBIT) reported that his mount was inclined outwards around the bend, despite his efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of FYNBOS (Vivek G.) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

FYNBOS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ARRIVED was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.7 (64) – THE FOURTH ESTATE TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 13

 

GO TONTO (K. Pranil dr.9) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts. As such, the colt was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s orders and Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the colt to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

ZEPHYR (N. B. Kuldeep, dr.5) was observed to have swayed its head as the start was affected thereby causing a delay in removing the blind fold, as such losing about a length.

 

At the start, SEMURG (App. Ramswarup, dr.4) jumped outwards at the same time MINISTRY OF TIME (S. G. Prasad, dr.6) jumped inwards thereby tightening ZEPHYR (N. B. Kuldeep, dr.5).

 

Soon after the start, ESTEBAN (App. Avinash Paswan) shifted in under urgings and went across APPALACHIAN (T. S. Jodha) causing the latter to be steadied thereafter ESTEBAN further shifted in and went across the field on his inside, before the red marker. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Avinash Paswan has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing the 600 metres, SEMURG (App. Ramswarup) shifted out thereby carrying ROCK ARMOUR (Antony Raj S.) outwards. App Ramswarup has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Antony Raj S. (ROCK ARMOUR) reported that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race and finished the race on the outer portion of the track, despite his efforts. In view of a behavior, Trainer P. S. Chouhan has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

ESTEBAN was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left nostril.

 

ROCK ARMOUR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

ZEPHYR sustained a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.8 (65) – THE CAPITULATE PLATE: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

MAI TAI (Bhawani Singh dr.2) planted in the stall. As such, Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 200 metres, EXOTIC STAR shifted in thereby carrying WHISPER (App. Vishal) inwards who in turn went across OKINAYUME (T. S. Jodha) racing on its haunches. After the race on questioning, Jockey S. Mosin reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

In the final stages of the race, MA CHERIE (App. Haridas Gore) shifted in under pressure thereby bumping OKINAYUME (T. S. Jodha) causing the latter to be steadied. After the race, on questioning, App. Haridas Gore stated that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey T. S. Jodha (OKINAYUME) was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2026, he has been fined a sum of Rs.2,000/-.

OKINAYUME was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

WHISPER was observed to have an injury on its both fore bulb of heel.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

WHISPER sustained a left eye injury (sore).

The urine samples of the CHALLENGE ACCEPTED (Winner – 1st race), DARCY (Winner - 4th race), ENCINO (Winner – 5th race), SHAMBALA (2nd place – 5th race), ESTEBAN (Winner – 7th race) and the special samples of GUNFIRE (4th race) & FYNBOS (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

ADDITIONAL REPORT/S:

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “LIGHTNING BLAZE” (DRAWN 05) (APP. N. BHOSALE) RUN IN RACE NO. 25. THE ZEPHYR BAY PATE (DIST. 1600 MTRS.) ON SUNDAY, 2ND AUGUST 2026.

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stipendiary Stewards at their meeting held on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, with App. N. Bhosale along with Trainer Narendra Lagad, having viewed the video recording of the race in question, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App. N. Bhosale. In that, even though he was instructed to go to the front but it was observed that App. N. Bhosale did not settle his mount and kept kicking on thereby placing his mount at a disadvantage. Therefore, it has been decided to fine his a sum of Rs.5,000/-, for failing to preserve with his mount in the above race.
