PUNE MEETING 2025, NINTH DAY, SATURDAY, 4TH OCTOBER, 2025.

 

 (PENETROMETER: 4.4 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: GOOD)

 

RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 2000 METRES TO 1600 METRES,  4 METRES WIDE FROM 1400 METRES TO 1000 METRES, 5 METRES WIDE FROM  800  METRES TO 600 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 400 METRES.THEREAFTER 7 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METERS WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

RACE NO.1 (106) – THE PANAMERA PLATE - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

ILLUSIONIST (Neeraj Rawal, dr.9) jumped, veered out and had to be steadied as the start was affected. In view of the gelding’s behavior, Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 700 metres, RAFAEL (C. S. Jodha) leaned outwards thereby inconveniencing REMY RED (S. Mosin). Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 400 metres, MUSKOKA (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted out under urgings thereby tightening CORNERSTONE (K. Pranil) causing the latter to check and drop back due to which ILLUSIONIST (Neeraj Rawal) racing on its haunches also had to check and change course. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, App. Aditya Waydande has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey K. Pranil (CORNERSTONE) reported that his mount was shying away due to close proximity with the other runners. Trainer P. S. Chouhan has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, an Objection was lodged by Jockey T. S. Jodha, the rider of EMPOWER  placed third by the judge, on the grounds that “his mount played up as the start was affected and he gave a shout and the race was started due to which he lost a certain Race”. The Stewards having heard the submissions made by Jockey T. S. Jodha and Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy and having watched the replay of the race on the CCTV, having heard the Starter, in conjunction with the Stipendiary Stewards and acting on their own observations of the race decided to overrule the objection and the placings remain unchanged. However, all bets placed on EMPOWER have been declared null and void and have been ordered to be refunded.

 

After the race, the V.O. reported the following:

 

ILLUSIONIST was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

MAJESTIC WARRIOR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (107) – THE GRUEZI PLATE: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS – 8

 

SINGER SARGENT (C. Umesh, dr.4) lost about four lengths at the start. As such, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, RAMBLER (P. Vinod) leaned in and made contact with DESTROYER (D. A. Naik).

 

In the final stages of the race, ATAASH (Antony Raj S.) shifted in, despite the rider’s efforts. As such, Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

ATAASH had both eye injuries (sore).

 

SPANISH EYES had right eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

 

After the race, DESTROYER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (108) – THE RAO SAHEB KEDARI GOLD TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS – 7

 

BLACK THUNDER (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.4) lost about a length at the start.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, TREAT (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in under urgings thereby bumping and tightening BLACK THUNDER (App. Aditya Waydande) racing along the rails. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey Vivek G. (KING KE) reported that his mount was lugging-in around the bend, despite his efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.4 (109) – THE OCTOBER HANDICAP: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS – 9

 

On arrival at the starting gates, at the request of App. Aditya Waydande, the saddle used on his mount CHARLIE BROWN was checked and re-adjusted.

MINISTRY OF TIME (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.4) lost about a length at the start.

 

Soon after the start, SANTANA ROW (App. Ramswarup) shifted out and went across MINISTRY OF TIME (Prashant P. Dhebe) who was slow to begin.

 

Approaching the 700 metres, CHARLIE BROWN (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted out thereby bumping and carrying VIENNOISE (App. A. Omkar) outwards. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by App. Aditya Waydande and also keeping in mind his record during the current Pune Meeting 2025, it was decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockeys licence for two race days i.e. on 24th October and 2nd November 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (MAI TAI) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race. As such, Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, Jockey C. Umesh (ESTEBAN) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VIENNOISE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be tied up. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CHARLIE BROWN & MAI TAI were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (110) – THE THREPTIN FILLIES’ & MARES’ STAKES (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS – 5

 

MADAM RICH (A. Prakash, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly at the start.

 

After the race, THALASSA & PSYCHIC STAR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (111) – THE YOGENDER SINGH SALVER: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS – 11

 

On a request from Trainer Fasial A. Abbas, SILVER STRIKE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 10:10 a.m. on 4th October 2025 at the stables and found to be sore by right fore. As such, the rig was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race

 

After being stalled, YOU (Antony Raj S., dr.9) was being fractious, reared up and hit the front gates. Subsequently, the filly was taken out, examined by the Sr. V.O. and was found to have an injury on her lower jaw, the filly was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 700 metres, EKLA CHOLO (Amyn Merchant) shifted out thereby tightening and inconveniencing CELESTINA (A. Prakash) causing the latter to check and drop back. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CELESTINA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right hind. As such, the filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the V.O. reported the following:

 

ESCAPE VELOCITY was observed to have an injury on its right hind pastern.

 

COME SEPTEMBER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ASHWA GYPSY was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that ASHWA GYPSY had right eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.7 (112) – THE PANAMERA PLATE – DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS – 11

  

STAR ROMANCE (S. J. Sunil, dr.10) planted in the stall thereby losing considerable ground at the start. As such, Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

RED MERLOT (App. Avinash Paswan, dr.2) threw its head up at the start.

 

At the start, WRANGLER (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.7) jumped inwards onto MYSTERIOUSSTRANGER (Santosh G., dr.6) who in turn shifted in thereby bumping and forcing TIMELESS FORTUNE (Suraj Narredu, dr.5) inwards onto NELSON RIVER (S. Mosin, dr.3) who had to be checked.

 

In the final stages of the race, WINGS OF FURY (A. Sandesh) was observed have veered out under pressure despite the rider’s efforts due to which TIMELESS FORTUNE (Suraj Narredu) had to be steadied. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to show his charge in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the V.O. reported the following:

 

WINGS OF FURY was observed to have an injury on its right hind coronet.

 

NELSON RIVER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

PRECIOSO had both eye injuries (sore).

 

BELIEVE had right eye injury (sore).

The urine and blood samples of the KING KE (Winner – 3rd race), REGINA MEMORABILIS (Winner – 5th race), PSYCHIC STAR (2nd place – 5th race), WIND DANCER (Winner – 6th race) and WINGS OF FURY (Winner – 7th race) and the special samples of ASHWA GYPSY (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
