PUNE MEETING 2025, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 13TH SEPTEMBER, 2025.
(PENETROMETER: 4.4 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: GOOD)
RACE DAY REPORT
RAILS WERE PLACED AT THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES TO 1000 METRES, 2 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES, 3 METRES WIDE AT 600 METRES. THEREAFTER RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.
On a request from Trainer S. Waheed, permission was granted to Trainer Vijay Kasbekar to saddle his charge WILLY WONKAA in the 1st race, ZARAK in the 3rd race & BELIEVE in the 8th race at his own (Trainer S. Waheed’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1 (74) – THE COLOMBIANA PLATE: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 6
At the start, LOOKING LIKE A WOW (App. Ramswarup, dr.6) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
Soon after the start, in an effort to settle his mount SILVER BRAID (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted out and made contact with LEO THE LION (App. N. Bhosale) who had to be steadied.
After the race, Jockey S. J. Sunil (HIGHGROUND) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, the V.O. reported the following:
DAIANNE was trotted and found to be sound.
SILVER BRAID was observed to have an injury on its right fore coronet.
WILLY WONKAA was observed to have an injury on its left hind tendon and both hind pasterns.
HIGHGROUND was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (75) – THE CONRAD HOTELS TROPHY-DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 9
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, ZEPHYR was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. on arrival at the starting gate, who certified her fit to race.
At the start, MARATHA ADMIRAL (N. S. Parmar, dr.3) jumped inwards onto MENJOU’S MOUSTACHE (App. Ramswarup, dr.2).
At the start, HOUSE OF LORDS (A. Prakash, dr.6) jumped inwards onto NORTHERN SINGER (App. Avinash Paswan, dr.5) thereafter HOUSE OF LORDS further shifted in under urgings and went across EKLA CHALO (K. Nazil, dr.4) and carried MARATHA ADMIRAL (N. S. Parmar, dr.3) inwards due to which ZEPHYR (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.1) racing along the rails was tightened for room and had to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey A. Prakash has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (REGAL GALLERIA) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer B. Prithviraj has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
It was observed that App. Avinash Pawan (NORTHERN SINGER) had failed to wear his goggles during the race. As such, App. Avinash Paswan has been fined Rs.500/-.
After the race, the V.O. reported the following:
ZEPHYR was trotted and found to be sound. Further, at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, an endoscopy was performed on the filly at the saddling enclosure and no abnormality was found.
EKLA CHOLO was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.
REGAL GALLERIA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (76) – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS - 4
MANSA MUSA (App. S. Siddharth, dr.1) lost about five lengths at the start. In view of the above and a similar behavior of the gelding in the past, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
The Equine Hospital reported that TREAT had left eye injury (sore) with ulcer.
RACE NO.4 (77) – THE AAKRITI ART GALLERY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS - 11
BUBBLY BOY (App. Ritesh Gochhi, dr.9) lost about four lengths at the start. As such, Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
ART COLLECTOR (N. S. Parmar, dr.10) lost about a length at the start.
At the start, ATAASH (P. Trevor, dr.2) jumped outwards and went across CELESTIAL (Vivek G., dr.3) causing the latter to be steadied.
Soon after the start, ATAASH (P. Trevor) was observed to have lost its footing and stumble.
Approaching the 1000 metres, GHIRARDELLI (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and carried EMPEROR RODERIC (App. Aditya Waydande) outwards. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.
In the final stages of the race, CELESTIAL (Vivek G.) was observed to have hung-in, despite the rider’s efforts. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race.
After the race, the V.O. reported the following:
ARDAKAN was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.
AZRINAZ was observed to have an injury on its right hind pastern.
EMPEROR RODERIC was observed to have an injury on its right fore bulb of heel.
BUBBLY BOY was trotted and found to be sound.
MR BRAINWASH was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have injuries on both its hind fetlocks.
RACE NO.5 (78) – THE SUPREME PUNE CITY GOLD CUP: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 4
It was observed that the left fore shoe used on MADAM RICH (Prashant P. Dhebe) was splayed whilst parading in the paddock, as such, the mare was sent back to the saddling enclosure where it was re-shod thereby causing a delay in the start of the race
At the start, MADAM RICH (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.3) jumped outwards onto JADE (Vivek G., dr.4).
SIEGE COURAGEOUS (Akshay Kumar) was observed to have hung-in in the final stages of the race, despite the riders efforts. As such, Trainer Prasanna Kumar P. has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, JADE was trotted and found to be sound.
The Equine Hospital reported that MADAM RICH had left eye injury (sore):
RACE NO.6 (79) – THE FOURTH ESTATE TROPH: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
CHICAGO CHIMES (P. Trevor, dr.1) brushed the gates and jumped out awkwardly at the start.
At the start, MIGHTY HERO (C. Umesh, dr.8) jumped inwards at the same time HARRISON (T. S. Jodha, dr.7) jumped outwards and they made contact, thereafter HARRISON shied in and went across HER CHARGE (Bhawani Singh, dr.6) who had to be steadied.
COMMANCHERO (App. N. Bhosale) was observed to have trailed the field. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to ensure that his charge puts up a reasonable performance in the future.
After the race, Jockey Vievk G. (SOLIDARITY) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite the rider’s efforts. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, the V.O. reported the following:
COMMANCHERO was trotted and found to be sound.
SOLIDARITY was observed to have lost its left fore shoe.
RACE NO.7 (80) – THE CONRAD HOTELS TROPHY-DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
SCARAMOUCHE (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.7) threw its head up and took a fly jump at the start.
At the start, AZURE (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) jumped outwards thereby bumping and forcing JET TYPHOON (App. Bharat Singh, dr.4) outwards onto ELOQUENT (S. Mosin, dr.5), at the same time RAFAEL (Nirmal Jodha, dr.6) shifted in thereby further tightening ELOQUENT and JET TYPHOON causing the latter to be steadied.
Passing the 300 metres, STORM CLOUD (C. Umesh) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing RAFAEL (Nirmal Jodha) along the rails causing the latter to check and change course. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey C. Umesh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
Passing the 150 metres, SCARAMOUCHE (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted in under pressure thereby carrying EASTERN MONARCH (A. Sandesh) inwards due to which DILIGENCE (P. Trevor) racing on its haunches had to check and change course. After the race, App. Aditya Waydande stated that as the horse reacted to the whip, he immediately put his stick down and took corrective action. App. Aditya Waydande has been severely cautioned.
After the race, ELOQUENT was trotted and found to be sound.
The Equine Hospital reported that EASTERN MONARCH had left eye injury (sore):
RACE NO.8 (81) – THE LA RONDINE PLATE: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 14
It was observed that the right fore shoe used on SUBSTANTIAL (A. Sandesh) was splayed whilst parading in the paddock, as such the filly was sent back to the saddling enclosure where it was re-shod thereby causing a delay in the start of the race
On arrival at the starting gates at the request of Jockey Vivek G., ALEXANDRIA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race.
After being stalled, WINDBORNE (App. Ramsurup, dr.12) was fractious and reared up in the gates, the filly taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race. As such, Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, LORD MURPHY (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.5) jumped outwards at the same time KEY LARGO (S. J. Sunil, dr.6) jumped inwards and they made contact causing the latter to be steadied.
Soon after the start, WINDBORNE (App. Ramswarup) shifted in under urgings and went across STARSEED (T. S. Jodha), HOWLIN WOLF (N. S. Parmar), BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (K. Nazil), and carried MAGICAL STAR (K. Pranil) inwards who in turn went onto LORD MURPHY (App. Aditya Waydande) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Ramswarup has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
Approaching the 300 metres, ALEXANDRIA (Vivek G.) shifted out onto STARSEED (T. S. Jodha) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey Vivek G. has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, the V.O. reported the following:
SUBSTANTIAL was observed to have lost its right fore shoe.
ALEXANDRIA was trotted and found to be sound.
WINDBORNE was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind below hock.
MAYSARA was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.
The Equine Hospital reported that ALEXANDRIA had left eye injury (sore):

The urine and blood samples of the winner of the 3rd, 5th, 6th & 7th race, viz. ARRIVED, SIEGE COURAGEOUS, GOLDEN DANCER & AZURE and the special samples of ZEPHYR (2nd race) & JADE (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
