PUNE MEETING 2025, SIXTH DAY, SUNDAY, 7TH SEPTEMBER, 2025.

 

 (PENETROMETER: 4.4 (LONGCHAMP METHOD); GOING: GOOD)

 

RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES WIDE FROM 2000 METRES TO 1000 METRES, 5 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 600 METRES, THEREAFTER RAILS WERE PLACED 7 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

RACE NO.1 (66) – THE WORLD'S OLDEST BARBERSHOP TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

PRINCE IGOR (App. Avinash Paswan, dr.2) jumped out awkwardly.

 

STAR ROMANCE (S. G. Prasad, dr.3) lost about two lengths at the start.

 

Approaching the 800 metres, EMPOWER (T. S. Jodha) leaned in thereby tightening THE ATHABASCA (R. Ajinkya) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey T. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 500 metres, MOONLIGHT KISS (A. Sandesh) shifted out thereby tightening MAJESTIC WARRIOR (K. Nazil) thereafter passing the 400 metres, STAR ROMANCE (S. G. Prasad) shifted in and went across MAJESTIC WARRIOR causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, Jockeys A. Sandesh and S. G. Prasad have been cautioned.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of THE ATHABASCA (R. Ajinkya) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, MAJESTIC WARRIOR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that PRINCE IGOR had a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.2 (67) – THE LEMON TREE HOTELS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

PRIDE’S PRINCE (R. Ajinkya, dr. 1) lost about two lengths at the start.

 

Soon after the start, EXUMA (N. S. Parmar) was observed to have lost its footing and stumbled.

 

Soon after the start, ALPINE STAR (App. Aditya Waydande) leaned out thereby carrying ODYSSEUS (Neeraj Rawal) outwards.

 

After the race, ODYSSEUS was observed to have an injury on its right hind bulb of heel.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that PRIDE’S PRINCE had both eye injuries with ulcer.

 

RACE NO.3 (68) – THE DINKOO N. CHENOY SALVER  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

ENSKY (Vivek G., dr.1) was fractious, refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts and was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. As such, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

On arrival at the starting gates, on a request from Jockey A. Prakash, the saddle used on his mount SAKANA was checked and re-adjusted.

 

RUNNING AWAY (App. Haridas Gore, dr.8) lost about two lengths at the start.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, EKATARINA (Neeraj Rawal) racing on the haunches of EAGLE EYE (K. Sai Kiran) leaned out onto RUNNING AWAY (App. Haridas Gore).

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (SHE’S MY GAL) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race. As such, Trainer Vinesh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALLEZ L’ETOILE & SHE’S MY GAL were trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, RUNNING AWAY was observed to have an injury on its right hind coronet.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that SHE’S MY GAL had a right eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.4 (69) – THE AMJAD KHAN TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

Soon after the start, LIAM (App. A. Omkar) leaned in thereby bumping OPUS DEI (C. Umesh) who in turn shifted in onto ZARAK (K. Pranil).

 

Soon after the start, VINCERO (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted in and went across LIAM (App. A. Omkar) & OPUS DEI (C. Umesh) causing both horses to be steadied. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Aditya Waydande has been fined Rs.2,000/- for shifting in before the red marker.

 

Approaching the 100 metres, CHARDIKALA (Vivek G.) shifted in under pressure thereby tightening and inconveniencing LORD AND MASTER (Santosh G.) along the rails causing the latter to be checked. Jockey Vivek G. has been cautioned.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of AXLROD (T. S. Jodha) and a report will submitted shortly.

 

After the race, FLAMING LAMBORGINI & OPUS DEI were trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (70) – THE DINKOO N. CHENOY SALVER  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

On a request from Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy, SKANDHA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 05:15 p.m. on 4th September 2025 at the stables and was found to be sore by left fore and observed to have an injury on its frog. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, HEAVEN’S RHYTHM (Neeraj Rawal, dr.8) jumped, veered out and had to be steadied.

 

At the start, LARA (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.2) jumped out brushing the gate and went onto TRAIL BLAZER (App. N. Bhosale, dr.3) drawn on its outside.

 

Soon after the start, LARA (Prashant P. Dhebe) was observed to have been erratic and as a result bumped TRAIL BLAZER (App. N. Bhosale) and ELEVEN ELEVEN (T. S. Jodha). After the race on questioning, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe stated that his mount was running green throughout the race. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 600 metres, TRAIL BLAZER (App. N. Bhosale) shifted in and went across LARA (Prashant P. Dhebe) causing the latter to check and change course. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. N. Bhosale has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, MANWAR & LARA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, SENECA was observed to have an injury on its right hind tendon.

 

RACE NO.6 (71) – THE AKKASAHEB MAHARAJ TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

Soon after the start, DREAM SELLER (C. Umesh) leaned out and carried ASHOKA (Neeraj Rawal) and TIME AND TIDE (A. Sandesh) outwards.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, MAGILETO (Vivek G.) leaned in thereby tightening MARKET KING (N. S. Parmar) along the rails causing the latter to check and drop back. Jockey Vivek G. has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 150 metres, DREAM SELLER (C. Umesh) shifted in and went across CREDENCE (App. Aditya Waydande) causing the latter to clip the former and stumble. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, Jockey C. Umesh has been fined Rs. 5,000/-.

 

After the race A. Sandesh (TIME AND TIDE) reported that his mount leaned in under pressure in the final stages of the race. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ASHOKA was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (72) – THE ROTARY DISTRICT 3131 SEPTEMBER HANDICAP: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

At the start, ENFORCER (Yash Narredu, dr.1) jumped outwards at the same time CLAUDE (Santosh G. dr.3) jumped inwards thereby tightening OURENSE (A. Sandesh, dr.2) drawn between them causing the latter to check and drop back.

 

At the start, PHANTASMIQUE (C. Umesh, dr.5) jumped outwards onto CHARISSE (Vivek G., dr.6).

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, due to a tightly packed field LITTLE JOHN (App. Haridas Gore) racing on the haunches of JURACAN (R. Ajinkya) had to be steadied.

 

Approaching the 400 metres, LITTLE JOHN (App. Haridas Gore) was observed to have forced a passage between JURACAN (R. Ajinkya) and MINISTRY OF TIME (N. S. Parmar) thereby bumping and tightening MINISTRY OF TIME causing the latter to check and drop back, due to this incident WRANGLER (Prashant P. Dhebe) racing on the outside of MINISTRY OF TIME was also inconvenienced. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, App. Haridas Gore has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 27th September 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

Passing the 300 metres, CARADOC (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted out and went across WRANGLER (Prashant P. Dhebe) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Aditya Waydande has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, App. Kirtish Bhagat (DUESENBERG) reported loss of whip passing the 150 metres. This being his first instance during the current Pune Meeting 2025, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (OURENSE) reported that his mount was running green in the straight. As such, Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.  

 

After the race, at the request of Trainer M. Narredu, endoscopy was performed on ENFORCER at the saddling enclosure and no abnormality was found.

 

After the race, the V.O. reported the following:

 

PHANTASMIQUE was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

LITTLE JOHN was observed to have an injury on its left hind pastern.

 

OURENSE & MINISTRY OF TIME were trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

BRASILIER had a right eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

 

CHARISSE had a right eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.8 (73) – THE SPEARHEAD PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

It was observed that there was a marginal delay in removing the blind fold used on HIGHGROUND (S. G. Prasad, dr.5) resulting in the filly being slowly off. The Starter and the concerned handler have been asked to be more careful in the future.

 

After the race, GOLDIVA was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that HIGHGROUND had a right eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

The urine and blood samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 8th race, viz. ODYSSEUS, EAGLE EYE, SENECA & SPEAK THE BREED, were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

 

RE: MOCK RACE HELD ON 7TH SEPTEMBER 2025:

 

The Equine Hospital reported that YOURMYLOVE had both eye injuries (sore).

RE: LOOKING INTO JOCKEY ANTONY RAJ S. LOSING HIS STIRRUP ON “CHARLIE BROWN “ IN RACE NO.21 RUN ON 2ND AUGUST 2025:

 

In connection with the above captioned subject matter.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards viewed  the replay of the Race in the presence of Trainer Imtiaz A Sait and Jockey Antony Raj S  from all angles and the blow up, at which time it was noted that the gelding had jumped out awkwardly which resulted in unbalancing its rider due to which Jockey  Antony Raj S. lost his left stirrup. Subsequently, during the Race whilst Jockey Antony Raj S.  had momentarily gained his stirrup however his heel was lodged in the iron the wrong way which once again slipped passing the 400 metres, as such he was not  able to ride out his mount to his full advantage, in view of the same the explanation tendered by Jockey Antony Raj S. was noted.

RE: LOOKING INTO JOCKEY ANTONY RAJ S. LOSING HIS WHIP ON “SIEGE COURAGEOUS” IN RACE NO.35 RUN ON 10TH AUGUST 2025:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stipendiary Stewards viewed the replay of the race along with Trainer Prasanna Kumar P. and Jockey Antony Raj S.  from all angles along with the blow up, slow motion of the whip drop, and having considered the explanation tendered by Jockey Antony Raj S. wherein he stated that in the last furlong the whip had got entangled in the reins and fell. On review, it was found that the reins had indeed got entangled which may have caused the whip to fall.

 

Keeping in mind the fact that the horse was a favorite and the Jockey lost his whip at a crucial time of the race, he is being severely cautioned and has been asked to be more careful in the future. This being the first instance of whip loss during the current Pune Meeting 2025, the same has been noted.

RE: LOOKING INTO THE APP. AVINASH PASWAN’S RIDING ON “HIGH SPIRIT” IN RACE NO.45 RUN ON 16TH AUGUST 2025:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stipendiary Stewards having viewed the replay of the Race no.45 along with App. Avinash Paswan and his Master Trainer Narendra Lagad, considering that this was App. Avinash’s first ride of his career in which it was observed that he was sitting back in the saddle which caused the horse to throw its head up and took an awkward jump thereby loosing considerable ground. Hence, the Apprentice has been asked to be alert in the gates and also practice with the riding instructor on the horse simulator and improve his riding skills.

RE: JOCKEY VIVEK G. (ARKADIAN) JOSTLING WITH JOCKEY A. SANDESH (POSITANO) IN RACE NO 64. THE IDAR GOLD TROPHY (2400 MTRS.) RUN ON 31ST AUGUST 2025:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, we refer to the meeting of the Stipendiary Stewards with Jockeys Vivek G. and A. Sandesh on 7th September 2025, having heard the submissions made by Jockey A. Sandesh (POSITANO) and Jockey Vivek G. (ARKADIAN) and  having viewed the video recording of the Race in question, the Stipendiary Stewards  were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Vivek G. wherein passing the 400 metres, Jockey Vivek G. (ARKADIAN) shifted out under urgings in an effort to force a passage, thereby bumping POSITANO (A. Sandesh), thereafter, Jockey A. Sandesh in an attempt to hold his ground leaned in which resulted in both the riders jostling for room  which could have caused an accident. Therefore, keeping all the circumstances in mind, it was decided to suspend the Jockeys licence of Mr. Vivek G. for One Race Day i.e. on 27th September 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race) and caution Jockey A. Sandesh  for the same.
