RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED FROM THEIR ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 7 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM THEIR ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1 (158) – THE S. A. WAHID PLATE : (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS – 7
CHANDRAYAAN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.2) jumped out slowly thereby losing about a length at the start.
Approaching the 400 metres, EXOTIC STAR (S. Mosin) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening THE FLUTIST (T. S. Jodha) along the rails. Jockey S. Mosin has been severely reprimanded.
Passing the 300 metres, MAJOR SAAB (Amyn Merchant) weakened and dropped back due to which THE FLUTIST (T. S. Jodha) racing on its haunches was held up for room, had to check and change course.
Jockey Amyn Merchant (MAJOR SAAB) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.
After the race, TOOFAAN was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. The gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, CHANDRAYAAN was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (159) – THE JIMMY BHARUCHA SALVER: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 9
At the start, GIANT GOLD (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.8) jumped out awkwardly and had to be steadied.
Passing the 1200 metres, ABHICANDRA (R. Ajinkya) leaned outwards onto TROPICAL PARADISE (T. S. Jodha) who in turn shifted out and carried CARADOC (A. Sandesh) outwards. Jockey R. Ajinkya has been cautioned.
Passing 900 metres, due to a tightly packed field ABHICANDRA (R. Ajinkya) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing BEE MAGICAL (Neeraj Rawal).
Passing the 300 metres, ABHICANDRA (R. Ajinkya) shifted in thereby tightening BEE MAGICAL (Neeraj Rawal) along the rails causing the latter to be checked. After the race, Jockey R. Ajinkya reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. The colt was subjected to veterinary examination which revealed that the colt had a wolf tooth on the right side. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
Jockey A. Sandesh (CARADOC) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.
RACE NO.3 (160) – THE CURSETJEE DHUNJISHAW SALVER : (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 6
Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to declare his charge BLACK THUNDER in this race after having accepted with her.
KANYA RASHI (Shrikant Kamble, dr.2) took a fly jump at the start.
At the start, THUNDERING PHOENIX (C. S. Jodha, dr.5) jumped outwards and made contact with ALEXANDROS (Neeraj Rawal, dr.6).
Approaching the 200 metres, ULTIMO (R. Ajinkya) shifted out and went across THUNDERING PHOENIX (C. S. Jodha). After the race, Jockey R. Ajinkya reported that his reins slipped momentarily. This being his third instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, he has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.500/- for failing to put a request to use a red hood on his charge ALEXANDROS before the race day.
RACE NO.4 (161) – THE SETH RAMNATH DAGA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 4
At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, CHRISTOPHANY was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 06.30 p.m. on 21st March 2025 and was found to be sore by left fore and with a swelling on right fore fetlock. As such the mare was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
SNOWFALL (P. Trevor, dr.3) lost about two lengths at the start.
It was observed that in the final stages of the race SHAMBALA (Antony Raj S.) was inclined outwards under pressure. Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.5 (162) – THE 1805 TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 7
At the start, ART COLLECTOR (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.4) jumped outwards at the same time QUICKER (P. Trevor, dr.5) leaned inwards and they made contact.
Soon after the start, ARIES (D. R. Shubham) leaned outwards onto ART COLLECTOR (App. Mustakim Alam).
After the race, Jockey N. B. Kuldeep (THE ATHABASCA) reported that his mount lacked the initial speed in the early part of the race.
After the race, App. Mustakim Alam (ART COLLECTOR) reported that his mount hung-out in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, ARIES was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. As such, the gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, THE ATHABASCA was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on right hind pastern.
RACE NO.6 (163) – THE M. H. AHMEDBHOY CUP: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 7
As the start was effected, DEMETRIUS (Bhawani Singh, dr.1) was observed to have reared up and jumped out with the blind fold which the Jockey removed after the couple of strides.
In view of the above incident, a Stewards enquiry was initiated at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards. The Stewards having viewed the video recording of the race heard the Starter, Jockey, in conjunction with the Stipendiary Stewards and acting on their own observation of the race decided to declare DEMETRIUS a non-starter and all bets placed were ordered to be refunded.
After the race, MAYSARA was observed to have broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.7 (164) – THE RAM ZODGE PLATE: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
BETWEEN FRIENDS (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.2) took a fly jump, lost its footing and had to be steadied thereby losing about two lengths at the start.
Soon after the start, SAMSON (App. Ramswarup) leaned outwards onto GOLDEN RULE (App. S. Siddharth).
At the start, SHE’S A TEASER (Bhawani Singh, dr.3) jumped outwards at the same time SUSSING (App. Haridas Gore, dr.8) jumped inwards thereby starting a chain reaction due to which ZIP ALONG (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.7) and MRIGA (Abhishek Mhatre, dr.5) were tightened and had to be checked.
After the race, App. Ramswarup (SAMSON) reported that his mount hung-out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

The urine and blood samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th race, viz. REMY RED, MATISSE, SHAMBALA & ART COLLECTOR and the special samples of MAYSARA (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

RE: REQUEST BY JOCKEY BHAWANI SINGH TO ADVANVCE HIS PUNISHMENT I.E. SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENCE FOR ONE RACE DAY I.E. ON 5TH APRIL 2025 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “SPLENDIDO” IN RACE NO.144 THE J. P. VAZIFDAR TROPHY - RUN ON 16TH MARCH 2025:
In connection with the captioned subject matter, Jockey Bhawani Singh vide his letter dated 18th March 2025, informed this office that he do not wish to appeal against the above decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and would like his punishment to start earlier.
In view of the above, his Jockeys licence now stands suspended on 30th March 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
