RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charges LEGACY in the 3rd race and HEART in the 5th race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer S. Padmanabhan, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charge SPLENDIDO in the 2nd race, at his own (Trainer S. Padmanabhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (143) – THE STAR SHINE TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

MANOR HOUSE (P. Trevor dr.2) charged the front gate while all the horses were loaded the gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race. In view of the behavior of the gelding, Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

ROCKET (T. S. Jodha, dr.8 ) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, CINDERELLA’S DREAM (App. Bharat Singh, dr.4) jumped inwards and made contact with FLEETWOOD (P. Vinod, dr.3). App. Bharat Singh has been cautioned. 

 

Soon after the start, SHIRSA (S. G. Prasad, dr.7) shifted in and made contact with GALLOPING GLORY (App. Sonu Chouhan, dr.6). Jockey S. G. Prasad has been cautioned.

 

FLEETWOOD (P. Vinod) pulled up lame before passing the winning post. After the race, the filly was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. Subsequently, the filly was sent to the Equine Hospital for further diagnosis and after an x-ray it was found that the filly had multiple fractures of carpal bones in the right fore knee. As such, with the consent of Trainer Shazaan Shah the filly was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.

 

ROCKET (T. S. Jodha) was observed to have trailed the field. Trainer Behram Cama has been asked to ensure that his charge puts up a reasonable performance in the future.

 

After the race, MANOR HOUSE was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its lower lip.

 

After the race, ROCKET was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (144) – THE J. P. VAZIFDAR TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

On arrival at the starting gate, RAMBLER (P. Vinod) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified the gelding fit to race.

 

Passing the 500 meters, Jockey Bhawani Singh (SPLENDIDO) shifted out thereby taking the ground of CELESTIAL (Vivke G.) who had to be steadied. After questioning and not being satisfied Jockey Bhawani Singh has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 5th April 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

In the final stages of the race, RAMBLER (P. Viond) shifted out under urgings thereby bumping FLAMING LAMBORGINI (Mustakim Alam, dr. 2) .After questioning and not being satisfied Jockey P. Vinod has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race Jockey Vivek G (CELESTIAL) reported that his mount hung in- in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

It was observed that Jockey P. Vinod (RAMBLER) failed to wear his racing goggles in time and wore the same passing the 1200 metres. As such, he has been fined Rs.500/-.

 

After the race, FLAMING LAMBORGINI was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The rig has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, RAMBLER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, ARDAKAN & CELESTIAL were observed to have gum injuries.

 

RACE NO.3 (145) – THE J. RUSTOMJI SOPARIVALA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY (A. Sandesh, dr.5) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

VEGATHA (Imran Chisty, dr.12) lost about two lengths at the start

 

At the start, AZURE (Antony Raj S., dr.8) veered out despite the riders efforts and had to be steadied.  After the Race Jockey Antony Raj S. reported that in an effort to settle his mount the bit shifted onto one side. In view of the filly’s behavior, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race   

 

At the start, KEY WEST (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.4) jumped inwards onto LEGACY (Yash Narredu, dr.3) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Approaching the 900 metres, DREAMER (N. S. Parmar) shifted in and went across FOXY (T. S. Jodha) who had to be steadied thereafter DREAMER further shifted in thereby starting a chain reaction due to which HEAVEN’S RHYTHM (S. J. Sunil) and MAJESTICUS (App. Mustakim Alam) were inconvenienced and NYANZA (A. Prakash) and BISHOP (Vivek G.) were tightened for room and had to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey N. S. Parmar has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching the 700 metres, MAJESTICUS (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted out thereby bumping HEAVEN’S RHYTHM (S. J. Sunil). After questioning and not being satisfied, App. Mustakim Alam has been fined Rs.3,000/-.  

 

Approaching the 200 metres, BISHOP (Vivek G.) shifted in and made contact with MAJESTICUS (App. Mustakim Alam). Jockey Vivek G. has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (KEY WEST) reported that his mount was running in green throughout the race.

 

After the race, Jockey Imran Chisty (VEGATHA) reported that his mount was running green.

 

After the race, MAJESTICUS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, FOXY was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock and lost its right hind shoe.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that BISHOP had left eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

 

RACE NO.4 (146) – THE SHAPOORJI PALLONJI BREEDERS' JUVENILE COLTS' CHAMPIONSHIP  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

At the start, RED BISHOP (P. Trevor, dr.7) was observed to have lost its footing, stumbled and had to be steadied.     

 

At the start, DIEGO GARCIA (A. Sandesh, dr.4) jumped outwards onto GUNSMOKE (Yash Narredu, dr.5) who was marginally slow to begin

 

At the start, OLIVER (Vivek G., dr.2) jumped outwards and made contact with STORMY SEA (Antony Raj S. dr.3). 

 

Approaching the 1400 metres, LITTLE JOHN (Akshay Kumar) leaned in and went across GUNSMOKE (Yash Narredu) causing the latter to check and change course. Jockey Akshay Kumar has been cautioned. 

 

RACE NO.5 (147) – THE FORBES BREEDERS’ JUVENILE FILLIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS – 7

 

It was observed that HEART (Yash Narredu) came into the paddock sporting the wrong saddle cloth number and the same was changed before she left the paddock.  Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his  lapse.

 

ARABESKA (Akshay Kumar, dr.5) lost about a length at the start.

 

HEART (Yash Narredu, dr.7) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, AMAZE AND INSPIRE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.6 (148) – THE LAHINCH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS – 15

 

Trainer Vinesh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting his charge GALLOPING GLORY in two races on the same day. As per the General Conditions published in the Prospectus, the mare was struck out from this race.

 

CRYSTAL CLEAR (Neeraj Rawal, dr.12) lost about a length at the start.

 

BALTHAZAR (Bhawani Singh, dr.4) lost about a length at the start.

 

LUMINOSITY (Abhishek Mhatre) was observed to have veered out and finished the race on the wide outside. In view of a behavior of the gelding, Trainer H. J. Antia has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

BALTHAZAR (Bhawani Singh) was observed to have veered out and finished the race on the wide outside. After the race, the gelding was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Antony Raj S. (YOU) reported loss of whip approaching the 150 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, no action has been initiated. Further, Jockey Antony Raj has been cautioned for dropping his hands before passing the winning post.

 

After the race, RED DUST was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CRYSTAL CLEAR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (149) – THE STAR SHINE TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS – 11

 

ABSOLUTE GORGEOUS (Nirmal Jodha) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer P. S. Chouhan has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

DULARI (App. Bharat Singh, dr.8) lost about a length at the start.

 

ZENDAYA (A. Sandesh, dr.9) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, DIVINE INTUITION (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.11) jumped out awkwardly thereby losing a length.

 

Soon after the start, ABSOLUTE GORGEOUS (Nirmal Jodha) was observed to have shifted in and went across the field before passing the red marker. Jockey Nirmal Jodha has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (MARATHA ADMIRAL) reported that his mount was not galloping fluently. After the race, the gelding was trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, DIVINE INTUITION was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (150) – THE MOGADISHU TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS – 14

 

GOLDEN SPARSH (S. Sunil, dr.10) planted in the stall and did not take part in the race. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to Race.

 

On arrival at the starting gate, at the request of Jockey A. Prakash, NORTHERN SINGER was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified the mare fit to race.

 

After the race, NORTHERN SINGER, STAR ROMANCE & LORD MURPHY were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine and blood samples of the SHIRSA (Winner - 1st race), STORMY SEA (Winner – 4th race), GUNSMOKE (2nd place – 4th race), FYNBOS (Winner – 5th race), PRISTINE GLORY (2nd place – 5th race), YOU (Winner – 6th race) & TOSCANA (Winner – 8th race), and the special samples of MANOR HOUSE (1st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

The Sr. V.O. reported that STAR EXPRESS was scoped and found to have EIPH (Gr.III) and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

RE: APPEAL BY JOCKEY AKSHAY KUMAR AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS FOR DEPRIVING HIM THE USE OF WHIP IN RACES WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT TILL THE END OF THE MUMBAI MEETING 2024/25 FOR USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT “CIRCLE OF DREAMS” IN RACE NO.127 RUN ON 23RD FEBRUARY 2025: FOURTH OFFENCE DURING THE CURRENT MUMBAI MEETING 2024/25.

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 25th February 2025, considered appeal dated 25th February 2025 from Jockey Akshay Kumar, the Stewards having heard the submissions made by him, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and having deliberated in the matter at length. The Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to reject his appeal and held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount “CIRCLE OF DREAMS” in the above race.

 

This being his fourth offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit and in view of stay granted on his punishment, it shall be noted that now he is deprived the use of whip in races w.e.f. 20th March 2025 till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2024/25 i.e. upto and including 6th April 2025 thereby covering a period of 5 race days and the balance 5 race days shall come into effect from the 1st race day of Pune Meeting 2025 covering the period of 5 race days.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “AMADEO” IN RACE NO.57 THE RAVISHANKAR GUPTA SALVER RUN ON 5TH JANUARY 2025.

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 16th March 2025, having heard the submissions made by Jockey Vivek G. and Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha and viewed the video of Race No.57, decided to give Jockey Vivek G. the benefit of doubt and cautioned him to be more careful in the future.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “LORD AND MASTER” IN RACE NO.106 THE NADIR & YAWAR RASHID TROPHY RUN ON 9TH FEBRUARY 2025.

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 16th March 2025, having heard the submissions made by Jockey Amyn Merchant, his spokesperson Mr. P. Trevor, Trainer Shazaan Shah, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and having deliberated in the matter at length, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Amyn Merchant and held him guilty of riding an incompetent race on his mount LORD AND MASTER in the above race. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for two race days i.e. on 5th & 6th April 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race) and gave Trainer Shazaan Shah a stern warning for the same.

RE: RACE NO.4 (140) – THE R. N. KANGA TROPHY: RUN ON 6TH MARCH 2025:

 

It was observed that MOJITO (N. S. Parmar) was  inclined outwards in the straight and Jockey N. S. Parmar was observed to have used the whip as a corrective measures. As such, Jockey N. S. Parmar has been severely reprimanded for not reporting the same to the Stipendiary Stewards after the race.

RE: RACE NO.3 (139) – THE A. F. S. TALYARKHAN SALVER: RUN ON 6TH MARCH 2025:

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (WINGS OF FURY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 1st offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-. Further, he has been fined Rs.2,000/- for improper use of whip where he had used the same in the forehand position down the shoulder.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO WEIGHING IN 63 KG. I.E. 1.5 KG. OVER THE WEIGHT AT WHICH JOCKEY S. SUNIL HAD WEIGHED OUT I.E. 61.5 KG. ON HIS MOUNT “OH KAY” IN RACE NO.136 – RUN ON 26TH FEBRUARY 2025.

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stipendiary Stewards at their meeting held on Friday, 7th March 2025, having heard Jockey S. Sunil and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. In that, he had weighed-in 63 kg. i.e. 1.5 kgs., over the weight at which he had weighed out i.e. 61.5 Kgs., on his mount “OH KAY” in the above race without any plausible explanation. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Jockeys licence for two race days i.e. on 30th March & 5th April 2025 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
