RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF "HAGIBIS" (DRAWN 4) IN RACE NO 64-THE RAZA ALI PLATE (DIST. 1400 MTRS.) RUN ON 9TH JANUARY 2025:
In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 23rd January 2025, after considering all the submissions made by Trainer H. J. Antia and viewing the video recording of Race No.64 and Race No.13 run during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, the Stewards were not satisfied with his explanation and held him guilty of Reversal of form vis-a-vie his other horse LUMINOSITY and unsatisfactory running of his charge HAGIBIS leading upto this race.
In that, the gelding had shown significant improvement in its performance in Race No.64 as compared to its earlier start in Race No.13 run on 1st December 2024, it was also noted that the gelding had shown no form in its six starts during the Pune Meeting 2024. The Stewards also noted that both HAGIBIS and LUMINOSITY ran in Race No.13, where LUMINOSITY (App. Haridas Gore) had finished 4 ¼ lengths ahead of HAGIBIS (S. A. Amit). In contrast, in Race No.64, HAGIBIS (S. A. Amit) finished 5 lengths ahead of LUMINOSITY (R. Shelar) i.e. a reversal of 9 ¼ lengths as compared to LUMINOSITY (R. Shelar). Additionally, it was also noted that both races under reference were run over 1400 metres coupled with the fact that in race no.64 LUMINOSITY's odds went up from 2.5 to 5.5, while HAGIBIS was backed down from 4.5 to 2/1 thereby contravening the Rules of Racing and Calendar Notification to which he had agreed.
The Stewards also took note of his past record, where he had previously been found guilty and penalized for similar offenses, including reversal of form, comparative performance, and unsatisfactory running on multiple occasions. Despite these prior instances, he had not shown any regard towards the Rules and Regulations in place.
In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club decided to suspend his Trainer's Licence for a period of 1 month i.e. w.e.f. 7th February to 6th March 2025 (both days inclusive) and to fine him a sum of Rupees one lakh.
During the period of his punishment, the following disabilities which are not limited to, will be applicable to him:-
1. He will not train horses either directly or indirectly;
2. He will not be permitted to visit the stables at Mumbai and Pune;
3. He will not attend any Race Meetings (on-course & off-course) at Mumbai & Pune Race Courses or enter any of the off-course Betting Centres or wherever the Rules of the R.W.I.T.C., Ltd., are in force,
4. He will not be permitted to visit the Turf Club House, Pune and the Hooves, Mumbai Race Course
5. No horse will be entered or raced in his name;
6. He will not attend Track Work wherever horses are being trained.
Any other disability, not mentioned above and which may be applicable to him under the Rules of the Club, will apply to him.

RE: APPEAL BY JOCKEY P. TREVOR AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEYS LICENCE FOR ONE RACE DAY FOR BEING GUILTY OF RIDING AN ILL-JUDGED RACE – ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ZUCCARO” (DRAWN 7) IN RACE NO.49 – THE MAHARAJA JIWAJIRAO SCINDIA TROPHY (GRADE 3) (DIST.1800 METRES) RUN ON SUNDAY, 29TH DECEMBER 2024:
In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Thursday, 30th January 2025, considered appeal dated 15th January 2025 from Jockey P. Trevor including his grounds of appeal and heard the submissions made by him and Trainer P. Shroff. The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, gave Jockey P. Trevor the benefit of doubt and decided to allow his appeal and refund the deposit.
It was also specifically pointed out to Jockey P. Trevor that he had only appealed against the suspension of one day i.e. on 2nd February 2025 and not the fine of Rs.10,000/- which was also simultaneously imposed on him. However, the Board of Appeal took a lenient view to allow not only his appeal for suspension but also rescind the fine. Further, he was asked to be more careful in the future whilst submitting the appeal and present decision would not be a precedent for future relief, if any.
