RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT.

 

On a request from Trainer Sanjay Kolse, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charge AAFREEN in the 1st race, at his own (Trainer Sanjay Kolse’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (65) – THE TRICUMDAS DWARKADAS TROPHY - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

At the start, LORD VADER (Bhawani Singh, dr.10) jumped outwards and made contact with GHIRARDELLI (C. S. Jodha, dr.11).

 

At the start, CORDELIA (Vivek G., dr.2) jumped outwards and DULARI (Amyn Merchant, dr.3) leaned inwards and they made contact.

 

After the race, DIVINE STAR was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on left hind fetlock.

 

After the race, GHIRARDELLI & AAFREEN were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (66) – THE P. D. AVASIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 3

 

After the race, CELLINI & EMPEROR RODERIC were trotted and found to be sound.

 

Sr. V.O. reported that EMPEROR RODERIC was declared to run with Aluminium Both Fore Wedge Heel shoes but ran with Aluminium Both Fore Roller Toe & Both Fore Wedge Heel shoe. As such, Trainer Shazaan Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

 

RACE NO.3 (67) – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

At the request of Trainer Karthik Ganapathy, GAMBINO was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 4..45 p.m. on 10th January 2025, at the stables and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, FLOYD (T. S. Jodha, dr.3) jumped outwards on to GORDON (R. Ajinkya, dr.4).

 

RACE NO.4 (68) – THE GOOL S. POONAWALLA MILLION  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

CHARLIE BROWN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, MERLET (A. Prakash, dr.1) jumped outwards and made contact with ELUSIVE ART (A. Sandesh, dr.2).

 

At the start, CACCINI (David Allan, dr.5) leaned outwards onto STORMY SEA (N. S. Parmar, dr.6).

 

At the start, ROSARIO (C. Umesh, dr.7) veered outwards and had to be steadied.

 

In the final stages of the race, STORMY SEA (N. S. Parmar) shifted in under urgings at the same time GIACOMO (Akshay Kumar) shifted out under urgings thereby bumping and tightening MATISSE (P. Trevor) racing between them. After questioning all concerned and not being satisfied, Jockeys Akshay Kumar and N. S. Parmar have been fined Rs.3,000/- each.

 

After the race, Jockey A. Prakash (MERLET) reported loss of whip passing the 150 metres. This being his fourth instance during the current Mumbai meeting 2024/25, Jockey A. Prakash has been suspended for four race days i.e. on 1st, 2nd, 9th, and 16th February 2025 (permitted to ride work / mock race).

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that after the race, at the request of Trainer M. Narredu, endoscopy was performed on ROSABELLE and was found to have EIPH (Gr.II).

 

RACE NO.5 (69) – THE RAMNIWAS RAMNARAIN RUIA GOLD CUP  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

On arrival at the starting gate, SCARAMOUCHE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

At the start, ODYSSEUS (Neeraj Rawal, dr.2) jumped inwards and went across SHAMBALA (Y. S. Srinath, dr.1) who was marginally slow to begin thereafter SHAMBALA veered outwards and had to be steadied thereby losing about two lengths in the process.

 

In the straight GOLDEN THUNDER (David Allan) was observed to have been inclined outwards under pressure. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, SCARAMOUCHE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (70) – THE VILLOO C. POONAWALLA INDIAN OAKS  (Grade 1): (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS – 10

 

At the start, PYRITE (A. Prakash, dr.6) threw her head up thereafter leaned inwards and made contact with EXPEDITE (S. G. Prasad, dr.5).

 

After the race, Jockey Imran Chisty (THALASSA) reported that his mount hung out in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, STAR OF NIGHT was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The filly has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.7 (71) – THE TRICUMDAS DWARKADAS TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

On arrival at the starting gate YOURE GORGEOUS (A. Prakash) reared up and fell, as such, the filly was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race.

 

ADONIS (Amyn Merchant, dr.9) was refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts. As such, the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn, before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

BLUEBIRD (App. N. Bhosale, dr.1) lost about three lengths at the start. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, SPIRIT BAY (App. S. Siddharth) leaned inwards onto SOVEREIGN GREY (Akshay Gaikwad) who had to be steadied. App. S. Siddharth has been cautioned.

 

After the race, YOURE GORGEOUS was trotted and found to be sound. 

 

After the race, SAMSON was observed to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.8 (72) – THE MARCHETTA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

At the request of App. Haridas Gore, SPEAK THE BREED was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the starting gate and was found to be sore by left hind. As such, the filly was withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starters order and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, BATTISTA (App. Bharat Singh, dr.8) threw its head up, was inclined outwards in the process carried EXOTIC STAR (D. R. Shubham, dr.9) outwards.

 

Mustakim Alam (ALARICUS) was observed to have repeatedly looked back over his shoulder from the 300 metres, it was also observed that passing the 150 mtrs he had momentarily lost his reins the same was pointed out to him and has been cautioned.

 

Jockey K. Nazil (GOODFELLOW) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey D. R. Shubham (EXOTIC STAR) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, AWAY SHE GOES was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. The mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GOODFELLOW was observed to have an injury on left hind fetlock.

 

After the race, EXOTIC STAR was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 7th, viz.  BLUEBIRD and the special sample of DIVINE STAR (1st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

 

The blood sample of LORD VADER (1st race), was collected for detection of prohibited substances.

 

The urine and blood samples of ELUSIVE ART (Winner – 4th race), STROMY SEA (2nd place – 4th race), GOLDEN THUNDER (Winner – 5th race), SHAMBALA (2nd place – 5th race), PSYCHIC STAR (Winner – 6th race), REGINA MEMORABILIS (2nd place – 6th race), EXPEDITE (3rd place – 6th race), was collected for detection of prohibited substances.

 ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ARKADIAN” (DRAWN 2) IN RACE NO. 46- THE P.R. MEHTA SALVER (DIST. 2400 MTRS.) RUN ON SUNDAY, 29TH DECEMBER 2024 :

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January 2025, having heard Joc. P. Trevor and Trainer P. Shroff who also expressed his disappointment with his riding, having viewed the video recording of the race in question, and the fact that Joc. P. Trevor admitted that, in the process of settling his mount, he did not realize that he had given the front runner a unnecessary lead until approaching the 1000 metres. The Stewards of the Club keeping all circumstances in mind especially considering his caliber believed he should have been more mindful of his positioning so as to give his mount the best opportunity in the race. Therefore, the Stewards of the Club held Jockey P. Trevor guilty of riding an ill-judged race and decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for one race day i.e. on 1st February 2025 and fined him Rs.10,000/- (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ZUCCARO” (DRAWN 7) IN RACE NO. 49 – THE MAHARAJA JIWAJIRAO SCINDIA TROPHY (GR.3) (DIST. 1800 MTRS.) RUN ON SUNDAY, 29TH DECEMBER 2024 :

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January 2025, having heard Joc. P. Trevor and Trainer P. Shroff who also expressed his disappointment with his riding, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and the previous races of the gelding, the Stewards of the Club were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Joc. P. Trevor. In that, in the early part of the race he positioned his mount at a disadvantage whereas he could have sat in a better position therefore, the Stewards of the Club held Joc. P. Trevor guilty of riding an ill-judged race and decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for one race day i.e. on 2nd February 2025 and fined him Rs.10,000/- (permitted to ride work/mock race).

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January 2025, having heard the submissions made by Joc. Akshay kumar and Trainer Dallas Todywalla and also the Stipendiary Stewards, having considered all the papers and proceedings before them and having deliberated in the matter at length, decided to give him the benefit of doubt and severely cautioned him for the future.
