PUNE MEETING 2024, SPECIAL RACE DAY, FRIDAY, 23RD, AUGUST, 2024.

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES TO 1400 METRES, 2 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES THEREAFTER 6 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge TEHANI in the 4th race, at his own (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

Jockey M. S. Deora had failed to report at the weighing room for his riding engagements of the day, hence, the respective Trainers were permitted to declare the above mentioned change of Jockeys on their respective charges. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.1 (52) – THE RACE MIRROR TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS -  8

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that KHALEESI & MOMENT OF MADNESS were examined at the starting gate and were certified fit to race.

 

At the start, ADONIS (K. Nazil, dr.3) jumped outwards onto FANTASTIC FLARE (K. Pranil, dr.4) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

At the start, KHALEESI (T. S. Jodha, dr.2) jumped inwards at the same time JULIANA (Bhawani Singh, dr.1) jumped outwards and they made contact.

 

NEILINA (Neeraj Rawal, dr.6) threw its head up at the start.

 

Approaching the 800 metres, MOONLIGHT KISS (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted in due to which RISING POWER (App. S. Saba) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing ADONIS (K. Nazil) racing on its haunches causing the latter to check and drop back due to which FANTASTIC FLARE (K. Pranil) was inconvenienced and had to be steadied. App. Mustakim Alam has been Rs.2,000/-.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of KHALEESI (T. S. Jodha) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ADONIS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, KHALEESI, MOMENT OF MADNESS and NEILINA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (53) –  THE INDIARACE.COM TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

BIG RED (Akshay Kumar, dr.3) lost about three lengths at the start. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

EATON SQUARE (Neeraj Rawal, dr.1) lost about four lengths at the start. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, ANGELO (Vivek G.) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing REGAL COMMAND (Bhawani Singh) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

It was observed that approaching the 100 metres, ANGELO (Vivek G.) veered out under the use of whip and went across ZARAK (A. Sandesh) and CHAT (K. Pranil) causing both horses to be checked and thereafter bumped REGAL COMMAND (Bhawani Singh) causing the latter to be steadied. After the race, on questioning Jockey Vivek G in the presence of Trainer P. Shroff,  stated that his mount was galloping in a hesitant manner and that the gelding was inclined outwards whenever he not accompanied by other horses in the race. In view of the gelding’s behavior, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ANGELO was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GIANT KING was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (54) – THE RACINGPULSE.IN TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

On the way to the starting gate, STAR ROMANCE (S. G. Prasad) dislodged its rider and bolted off, the filly was apprehended near the winning post. As per the norms, Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi was contacted and with his due consent, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starters order.

 

LORD AND MASTER (Amyn Merchant, dr.1) threw its head up at the start.

 

ELOQUENT (Neeraj Rawal, dr.2) lost about a length at the start.

 

After the race, ELOQUENT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (55) – THE TIMES OF INDIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES –RUNNERS- 7

 

Passing the 1300 metres, VINCENT VAN GOGH (A. Sandesh) got keen and had to be steadied.

 

Approaching the 100 metres, EL GRECO (S. Saqlain) leaned outwards onto VINCENT VAN GOGH (A. Sandesh) thereafter TEHANI (Akshay Kumar) leaned inwards due to which VINCENT VAN GOGH racing between them was tightened, inconvenienced and had to be checked. After questioning all concerned, Jockeys Akshay Kumar and S. Saqlain have been severely reprimanded.

 

After the race, App. Mustakim Alam (ALPINE STAR) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 1st offence during the current Pune Meeing 2024, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, on being questioned, Jockey Akshay Kumar (TEHANI) stated that coming out of the gates, he had lost his stirrup momentarily, however, the same did not impact the outcome of the race.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the riding of TEHANI (Akshay Kumar) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, FLAMING LAMBORGINI was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore. The rig has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, TEHANI, VINCENT VAN GOGH & RAMBLER were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (56) – THE HINDU TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, KNIGHT CRUSADER was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 06:50 p.m. on 20th August 2024, at the stables and was found to have a  melting ulcer in left eye, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds.

 

DIVINE STAR (T. S. Jodha, dr.4) lost about a length at the start.

 

GOODFELLOW (K. Nazil, dr.10) was fractious in the stall and lost about 2 lengths at the start. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

WIND DANCER (Akshay Kumar, dr.9) was fractious in the stall and was continuously lashing out at the back gates. As such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starters order. Further, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, ALARICUS (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.11) jumped inwards and went across GOODFELLOW (K. Nazil, dr.10) who was marginally slow to begin, causing the latter to be steadied.

 

Passing the 800 metres, MEMPHIS (R. Ajinkya), leaned inwards thereby starting a chain reaction due to which DIVINE STAR (T. S. Jodha) shied inwards onto CREDENCE (P. Vinod) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing DEO VOLENTE (App. Haridas Gore) resulting in the latter to brush the rails, check and drop back. Jockey R. Ajinkya has been severely cautioned.

 

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde (KINGSLAND) was observed to have lost his right stirrup. After the race, on questioning, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde stated that the stirrup leather malfunctioned resulting in him losing his right stirrup. Having inspected the stirrup leather it was found to be of rather poor quality which the Jockey accepted, as such, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been fined Rs.2,000/- for using unserviceable equipment. Further, the same was confiscated from him after the race.

 

After the race, DEO VOLENTE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left hind. The filly was immediately shifted to the Equine Hospital for further treatment. On examination the filly was found to have a hip fracture. As such, at the Trainer’s request the filly was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain, DIVINE STAR was scoped at the Equine Hospital and was observed to have EIPH (Gr. III), the colt is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that WIND DANCER was observed to have multiple injuries below the hock on both hind legs.

 

After the race, GOODFELLOW, SACHIKO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that DIVINE STAR had right eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

 

RACE NO.6 (57) – THE MID-DAY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

STUNNING VISUAL (K. Nazil, dr.3) planted in the stall thereafter taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, THE GENERAL (Bhawani Singh dr.7) threw its head up, jumped outwards and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (TREAT) reported that his mount drifted out in the final stages of the race. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BUGATTI was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd race, viz. MOONLIGHT KISS, BIG RED & FIGHTON, and the special sample of KHALEESI (1st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

ADDITIONAL REPORT:

 

RE: MOCK RACE HELD ON 23RD AUGUST 2024.

 

SON OF A GUN was reluctant to be backed in thereafter the horse reared up and dislodged the rider and bolted away. As such, the gelding was withdrawn from the above race and Trainer Narendar Lagad has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
