RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY UPTO 500 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge AMAZONIA in the 3rd race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1 (107) – THE RAJCOOMAR GUJADHUR MEMORIAL TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 5
MARLBORO MAN (Bhawani Singh, dr.3) stumbled as the start was effected.
After the race, the Sr. V.O. reported that VERDANDI was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.2 (108) – THE SPORTSBET.IO LONGSTRIDE CLASSIC: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 6
SCARAMANGA (C.S.Jodha, dr.1) was reluctant to stall. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the horse to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
After the race, ZARAK was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (109) – THE BANGALORE TURF CLUB TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 3
The Sr. V.O. reported that SON OF A GUN was examined at the starting gates before the race and was certified fit to race.
After the race, SON OF A GUN was trotted and found to be sound.
After the race, AMAZONIA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (110) – THE N. M. IRANI TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES –RUNNERS- 9
At the request of Jockey P. S. Chouhan, PICASSO was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the starting gates and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
PYRITE (S. Zervan, dr.9) was reluctant to stall. Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (EQUILATERAL) reported that his mount was running green in the straight.
After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (PYRITE) reported that his mount was hanging out in the straight. This being the filly’s first run, no action has been initiated.
After the race, PYRITE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 (111) – THE AMAZING MAURITIUS CUP: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 7
At the request of Trainer M. Narredu, HOOVES OF THUNDER was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. in the stable area at 11.00 a.m. on 11th February, 2024 and was found to have painful elbow at right fore, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
MADRAS CHEQUE (H. M. Akshay, dr.9) ducked after being stalled and in the process the right stirrup broke, as such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
BIG RED (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.7) lost about 2 lengths at the start.
BALENCIAGA (App. Haridas Gore, dr.1) planted in the stall thereby losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey M. S. Deora (GIMME) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer S. S. Shah has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, BALENCIAGA, BIG RED & GIMME were trotted and found to be sound but BIG RED was found to have an injury on right upper eye lead.
RACE NO.6 (112) – THE AHMED I. RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 11
At the start, GODDES OF DAWN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.2) jumped outwards at the same time POTOFINO BAY (App. N. Bhosale, dr.4) leaned inwards due to which WARRIOR PRINCE (K. Nazil, dr.3) drawn between them was tightened and had to be checked.
After the race, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde (GOOD DEEDS) reported that his mount was hanging out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (PURE) reported that his mount lacked initial speed and further stated that he was denied a clear passage in the final stages of the race.
After the race, HARRIET was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, PORTOFINO BAY, GOOD DEEDS & WARRIOR PRINCE were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (113) – THE SPORTSBET.IO SPRINTERS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 6
Approaching the 800 metres, MISTY (App. N. Bhosale) was observed to have lost its footing and dropped back.
Approaching the 200 metres, LAZARUS (C. Umesh) was observed to have shied away from the use of the whip thereby losing its footing.
After the race, App. Haridas Gore (NEW DIMENSION) reported that his mount was inclined outwards.
After the race, NEW DIMENSION was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, the Sr. V.O. reported that NOLAN collapsed after the winning post and recumbent. After first aid treatment the gelding did not respond and died on the track.
After the race, MISTY & LAZARUS were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th & 7th race, viz. EATON SQUARE, SCARAMANGA, BIG RED, PORTOFINO BAY & NEW DIMENSION, and the special sample of AMAZONIA (3rd race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORT:
RE: MOCK RACE HELD ON 11TH FEBRUARY 2024:
After the mock race, CORDELIA was observed to have broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

NIRAD KARANJAWALA AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB TO WITHDRAW HIS TRAINER'S LICENCE FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS COMMENCING FROM 26 JANUARY 2024 UPTO THE END OF MUMBAI MEETING 2023-24 AND THEREAFTER SHOULD HE APPLY FOR A TRAINER'S LICENCE, THE SAME SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED UPTO AND INCLUDING 25TH JANUARY 2027-ENQUIRY INTO THE OWNERSHIP CREDENTIALS OF CH M "NAIROBI" UNDER HIS CHARGE AND INDIRECT TRAINING OF THE HORSE BY JOCKEY S.G. PRASAD:
The Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Monday, 5th February 2024, considered appeal dated 20th January 2024, from Mr. Nirad Karanjawala, on the above subject.
In this connection, the Board of Appeal considered all documents and papers that were submitted including Mr. Nirad Karanjawala’s grounds of appeal and heard the submissions made by him and his spokesman, Mr. Kishore Dingra as also Mr. Amarjeet Singh Narula, Owner of ch i m NAIROBI and Jockey S.G. Prasad, The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length, decided to reduce the period of withdrawal of his Trainer's licence to 6 months and impose a fine of Rs.25,000/-. Since he was granted a stay on his punishment till his appeal is heard and disposed off and his request for some time for transferring the horses in his charge to another trainer, his Trainer's licence will now stand withdrawn from 8th February 2024 till 8th August 2024 (both days inclusive). Further, during this period, all the disabilities, as contained in the order of Stewards of the Club conveyed to him vide this office letter dated 19th January 2024 shall apply

RE: MERCY PETITION BY MR. A. SANDESH IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY'S LICENCE FOR NOT PERMITTING HIS MOUNT "DREAM ALLIANCE" TO RUN ON ITS MERIT-ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF "DREAM ALLIANCE" (DRAWN 3) IN RACE NO. 172 -THE BOMBAY CLUB MULTI-MILLION (DIST. 1400 METRES) RUN ON 2ND APRIL 2023.
The Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Monday, 5th February 2024, considered Mercy Petition dated 26th January 2024, from Mr. A. Sandesh, on the above subject.
In this connection, the Board of Appeal having heard the submissions made by Mr. A. Sandesh, having deliberated on the matter at length, decided that his Jockey's licence will now stand suspended upto and inclusive of 8th March 2024.
As for the 6 months suspended sentence imposed by the Stewards of the Club, which stipulates that if he is found guilty of a similar offence within the next three years the same would immediately come into effect, remains unaltered. However, the period for the same shall now commence from 9th March 2024 and will remain in effect in accordance with the Stewards’ directive. All other restrictions outlined in the Stewards' order, remain unchanged.
