RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM 2000 METRES TO 1000 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY FROM 1000 METRES TO 400 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY PASSING THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM 1200 METRES (CHUTE) TO 1000 METRES  -   DUE TO PREVAILING UNDERFOOT CONDITIONS, THE STEWARDS RESOLVED TO REMOVE THE FAILSE RAILS AND THE LAST TWO RACES OF THE DAY i.e. RACE NOS.8 & 9 WERE RACED AT THE ORIGINAL POSITION.

 

On a request from Trainer Dallas Todywalla, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charge CARMA in the 9^th race, at his (Tr.Dallas Todywalla’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1(170) – THE KIR ROYALE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 5 Runners

 

Passing the 400 metres, BRIGHT HALO (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across KOROL (C.S. Jodha). Jockey S. Zervan has been cautioned.

 

In the last 100 Metres JAZZMYN (Dashrath Singh) shifted in  on to KOROL (C.S.Jodha) tightening the latter for room. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, BRIGHT HALO was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind fetlock. The gelding was again examined at the stables in the morning on 04/09/2015 and found to be sound. JAZZMYN was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(171) – THE HILLS AND STARS PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – 4 Runners

 

After the race, STARRY BROOK was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(172) – THE  MAC BRUCE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 5 Runners

 

In the last 100 metres, CONGRESSIONAL (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in under the use of the whip, on to AGELESS (Suraj Narredu). Jockey P. S. Chouhan has been cautioned.

 

After the race, LA TRAVIATA and CONGRESSIONAL were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(173) – THE GOBELIN PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners

 

CRITICS CHOICE (Malcolm Kharadi) swung its head to the right as the start was effected and thereafter jumped out and stopped abruptly and did not take part in the race. It was observed that the bit on the horse had slipped to the right side. CHLOBUD (App.R.Ajinkya) was restless in the stall. Trainers Hosidar Daji and Sanjay Kolse have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

CHLOBUD (App.R.Ajinkya, dr.10) shifted out soon after the start on to BEAU ROYALE (App.Akshay Gaikwad, dr.11).

 

Approaching the 800 metres, Jockey T.S.Jodha (COLD PLAY), in an effort to settle his mount, shifted out on to BEAU ROYALE (App. Akshay Gaikwad).

 

Approaching the 300 metres, STAND AND DANCE (Suraj Narredu) who was racing between SPEED BABY (App.N.Nadeem) and CHASE THE ACE (Satish Nayak), was tightened for room.

 

App.R.Ajinkya (CHLOBUD) was severely cautioned for dropping his hands before passing the winning post.

 

After the race Trainer Hosidar Daji complained stating that in his opinion his filly CRITICS CHOICE (Malcolm Kharadi) was not ready and had her head in the adjoining stall when the start was affected. He was shown the view of the overhead camera installed in the Starting Gate after which he was satisfied. However, the Stipendiary Stewards will be enquiring into the slipping of the Bit and efforts of Jockey Malcolm Kharadi in correcting his mount and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SHIVALIK SKIES and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, NICANORA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BEAU ROYALE was found to be sound. CHLOBUD had a gum injury.

 

 

 

RACE NO.5(174) – THE SOUTHERN EMPIRE DOUBLE STAKES: (About) 1600 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Passing 1400 metres, Jockey P.Trevor (ATALYA), in an effort to settle his mount, shifted in on to ALANZO (T.S.Jodha)  Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned and asked to be more careful in the future.

 

SHOW BIZ (Dashrath Singh) and ALANZO (T. S. Jodha) drifted out in the straight. Trainers Imtiaz A. Sait and S.S.Shah have been advised to take remedial measures.

 

After the race, RUNNING STORM was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SHOW BIZ was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind cannon. ALECTAR and ATALYA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(175) – THE OCTOBER HANDICAP: (About) 1200 Metres – 7 Runners

 

DESERT LILY (App.Akshay Gaikwad) jumped out awkwardly unbalancing the Jockey. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been advised to take remedial measures.

 

Passing the 300 metres, SENTIMENTAL (P.Trevor) shifted in and went across BLITZKRIEG (App.D.S.Daman). Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.

 

MIND OF MADNESS (A.Ashhad Asbar) stumbled after the winning post, dislodging the rider.

 

After the race, BLITZKRIEG was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MIND OF MADNESS was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the right shoulder and left hind coronet. ESPADA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(176) – THE  ASHWAMEDHA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners

 

UMARKOT (App.S.A.Amit, dr.7) jumped out awkwardly and made contact with ANTARTICA ZONE (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.8). Thereafter, UMARKOT, who was racing between WINGS OF GLORY (A. J. Nilesh) and ANTARTICA ZONE (A.Ashhad Asbar), was tightened for room and dropped back.

 

Approaching 300 metres, LOGANO (J.E.Pereira) shifted out and went across ZOOM ZOOM (N.S.Parmar). Jockey J.E.Pereira has been cautioned.

 

Passing 200 metres, WINGS OF GLORY (A.J.Nilesh) and SHANIA (Akash Agarwal) made contact with each other.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SHANIA and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ANTARTICA ZONE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.8(177) – THE GOBELIN PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners

 

MILITARY GIRL (Vikram Jodha) whipped around after jump out and took no part in the race. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, DAYTONA (Dashrath Singh, dr.11) shifted in on to DUSK N DAWN (App.N.B.Kuldeep, dr.10), who in tern went on to ZABROK (App.Yash Narredu, dr.9). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 200 metres, IMPERIAL PRINCESS (App.Bhawani Singh) shifted out on to SWEET AS HONEY (Suraj Narredu), who in turn went on to SHINING MELODY (P.Trevor). App.Bhawani Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race Jockey Dashrath Singh (DAYTONA) reported that his mount was hanging out throughout the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been advised to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, DAYTONA was found to be sound.

 

 

 

RACE NO.9(178) – THE ARTOIS PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 12 Runners

 

There was a dual declaration of Jockey Dashrath Singh by Trainer C.Rajendra on CAVALIA and by Trainer Bezan Chenoy on ENSIGN. After questioning all concerned, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs.1,000/- for declaring Jockey Dashrath Singh on his charge ENSIGN without his consent. Subsequently, he was permitted to declare Jockey P.S.Chouhan.

 

KISS THE STAR (App.Jaykumar) lost 2 lengths at the start.

 

Soon after the start CAVALIA (Dashrath Singh, dr.6) shifted in on to ADMISSSION (S.G.Prasad, dr.5)

 

After the race Jockey T.S.Jodha (HERE I AM) reported that his mount was hanging-in in the straight. Trainer Subhag Singh has been advised to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, KISS THE STAR, HERE I AM and BLACKBEAN were found to be sound.

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM APP.S.J.SUNIL IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS APP.JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 26/09/2015 TO 10/10/2015 FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON “JUPITER” IN RACE NO.88 – THE RAPHAELA PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON SATURDAY, 29^TH AUGUST, 2015 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 3^rd October, 2015 considered Mercy Petition from App.S.J.Sunil in the above connection and having deliberated the matter decided to reject the same.

RE:ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “STARRY MOMENT” (DRAWN. 9) IN RACE NO.152 - THE ATLANTUS PLATE (DIV.II), RUN ON SATURDAY, 26^th SEPTEMBER 2015.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed and App.Bhawani Singh in the above connection. The video of the race was viewed and when questioned, Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed  stated that he had instructed the Apprentice to try and go to the front if possible, if not, then to sit wherever the filly is comfortable, come into the straight and to do his best. App.Bhawani Singh confirmed the instructions. Trainer Altamaash Ahmed further stated that the filly has won only one race in her career and she  has been a big disappointment. To a specific question, he stated that he takes no objection to the riding of App.Bhawani Singh. He added that after the race, the Apprentice reported that he had received interference. To a further query, he stated that the filly had drifted out in the straight in her previous run and subsequently he had her mouth examined and was found to be normal.

 

App.Bhawani Singh stated that after the interference, the filly was keen and in an effort to settle her, she threw her head up. Trainer Altamaash Ahmed stated that the filly had behaved in a similar manner in the past.

 

Having heard the submissions made and  keeping in mind that the Trainer was satisfied with the riding and that he has a low opinion about the filly, no action was initiated in the matter. However, but both were informed that the enquiry was being kept open for the next couple of runs.

RE:ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “STRIKING STORY” IN RACE NO.154 - THE NOBLE PRINCE PLATE RUN ON SATURDAY 26^th SEPTEMBER 2015.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer B.Prakash and Jockey H.G.Rathod in the above connection.  The video of the race was viewed and when questioned, Trainer B.Prakash stated that he had instructed the Jockey to take a good jump and sit in 4^th/5^th position, come into the straight and to do his best. The Jockey confirmed the instructions. Trainer B.Prakash opined that STRIKING STORY is a pure Class V horse and has been running on board,  however, every time he gives up in the last furlong, hence this time around he wanted to change the tactics and hence had asked the Jockey to brush up and sit 4^th/5^th and to do his best.

 

After hearing the submissions made and viewing the video of the race in question as also the previous runs of the horse, the explanation tendered by the Trainer and Jockey was noted for future reference. However Jockey H.G.Rathod has been cautioned to be more vigorous in his riding efforts in the future.

RE:ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ALIEN” IN RACE NO.158-THE DANCING GLANCES TROPHY (DIV.I), RUN ON SATURDAY, 26^th SEPTEMBER 2015.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi and Jockey S.G.Prasad in the above connection. The video of the race was viewed and when questioned, Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi stated that he had instructed the Jockey to sit in 4^th/5^th position and if the gelding took a fly jump then to push him and sit close to the field. Further, he had specifically told the Jockey to sit close to the rails, come into the straight and to do his best. Jockey S.G.Prasad confirmed the instructions. To a specific question, the Jockey stated that in an effort to sit close to the rails he had dropped back, and in the straight the horse drifted out.

 

On viewing the various T.V. angles, the Trainer agreed that the Jockey could have been more vigorous and could have made better effort to follow the instructions.

 

After hearing the submissions made by the Trainer and Jockey, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.G.Prasad, particularly with regard to his riding efforts in the straight as also for failing to follow his Trainer’s instructions. However, keeping in mind that the horse was at longer odds, the Stipendiary Stewards took a lenient view and decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for16^th October 2015 for incompetent riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “SPEAR OF TRIUM” IN RACE NO.165 - THE PUNTO ABARTH TROPHY (DIV-I), RUN ON SUNDAY, 27^TH SEPTEMBER, 2015 VIS-À-VIS ITS LAST RUN ON 5^TH SEPTEMBER 2015.

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Narendra Lagad in the above connection. He  stated that the 22 days bench mark was a good time for a horse to improve. He added that there was only one common horse, ABBEY, who was giving his horse 4.5 kg in the previous race and beat him by 3 ¼ lengths, whereas in the race in question the weight difference was 5.5 Kg. Further, the run of ABBEY was under enquiry. He pointed out that BLUE FLAME who ran 2^nd  to his horse this time, had finished 7^th in his previous start and PASSION PRINCE who ran third, may have beaten his horse if it had not hung in. Also, there was a slight change of instruction from the previous run i.e. in the previous run there were many fast horses (MULTINATIONAL, ABIGAIL and ABBEY) where he had told the Jockey to sit 4^th/5^th and to do his best,  however, in the race in question, his horse was drawn-1 and seeing that there were no fast horses in the race, he had instructed the Jockey to hit the front. He further added that in the previous run i.e. Race No.105, the weight difference between SPEAR OF TRIUM and MULTINATIONAL was 7 kg. Thereafter, MULTINATIONAL has run 3^rd with a good set of horse so he felt that his horse had a good chance in this race.   

After going through the Work and Medical Log Books, viewing both the races and considering that the horse was at long odds both the times and there was almost no betting on the horse in Race No.165 when he won, no action has been initiated against Trainer Narendra Lagad beyond cautioning him to be more careful in the future..

RE:ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SAMBA WARRIOR”  IN RACE NO.169-THE DAMODARAN D PILLAI PLATE, RUN ON SUNDAY 27^th SEPTEMBER 2015.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait in the above connection. The video of the race was viewed and when questioned, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait stated that Jockey P.Trevor had ridden the gelding before, as such he had told the Jockey that the gelding takes time to come into stride, so pick him up from the four Furlongs and thereafter ride his own race and to do his best. To a specific question, he stated that his first reaction was that this is not Jockey P.Trevor’s riding and even his Owners were not happy with the ride and asked him to complain against the Jockey. Further, on seeing the replay, he noticed that the Jockey looked to his right and dropped back at 1200 metres. When he questioned Jockey P.Trevor after the race, he said that he had received interference from HONEST PLEASURE (D.K.Ashish) who shifted out at that stage and he had lost position. Thereafter, he had found himself on the outside and in the straight his horse did not get a clear run and still finished a good fifth. Trainer Imtiaz Sait added that when he got back to the stables he had examined the gelding and found that it had injury marks on the right suspensory ligament and on the right hind pastern which was confirmed by the Sr.V.O. of the Club.

On viewing the various T.V. angles it was evident that Jockey D.K.Ashish (HONEST PLEASURE) in an effort to make a forward position, had tightened SAMBA WARRIOR (P.Trevor) and thereafter, STAR OF BABYLON (T.S.Jodha) had come in, further tightening SAMBA WARRIOR. Considering the interference and the injuries to the gelding, the enquiry has been closed and the explanation tendered was noted for future reference.

RE : POSITIVE FINDING OF “CATHINONE” IN THE URINE SAMPLE OF “SOUL CENTRIC (WINNER) IN RACE NO.86 – THE RAPHAELA PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 29^TH AUGUST, 2015 – IN CHARGE OF TRAINER S.S.SHAH

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 3^rd October,  2015 interviewed Tr.S.S.Shah regarding the positive report dated 29^th September, 2015   from Racing Analytical Services Ltd, Australia, in respect of the sample of urine taken from his charge SOUL CENTRIC (Winner) in Race No.86 – The Raphaela Plate (Div.II) run on 29^th August, 2015, which  read  as under:-

“THE URINE SAMPLE WAS SHOWN TO CONTAIN CATHINONE”

 

At this meeting, Trainer S.S.Shah was handed over a copy of the above report and was requested to inform the Sr. Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample, i.e. latest by 8^th October, 2015, whether he wished to send the split sample to Hong Kong Jockey Club, Laboratory, LGC, New Market, UK, LCH, France or Quanti LAB, Mauritius, , for Confirmatory analysis and also the name of the witnessing analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the primary laboratory as conclusive.

 

Tr.S.S.Shah was asked to conduct his own enquiries and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.V.O. of the Club, as and when he would be required to.
