RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
Permission was granted to Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha to saddle the charges of Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha viz. SWEET AS HONEY (1st race), MEGGIDO (5th race), RAIN DANCE (6th race) and SONG OF AFRICA (7th race) at his (Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Hosidar Daji, permission was granted to Trainer Nosher Cama to saddle his charges CASINO JACK (1st race), DIABLO (2nd race), HUNT FOR HEADS (4th race) and FEW DOLLARS MORE (6th race), at his (Trainer Hosidar Daji’’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(314) - THE REGAL EQUITY TROPHY: (About)1400 Metres. Runners – 10
At the start SHAHRIYAR (P.Trevor, dr.7) jumped awkwardly outwards and went onto ANNIE (D.K.Ashish, dr.8) who in turn went on to AZADEGAN (F.Irani, dr.9).
SWEET AS HONEY (Dashrath Singh) did not get a clear run between 400 to 300 metres.
VENI VIDI VICI (Vikram Jodha) leaned-in during the race, wherein at the start the gelding went across AZADEGAN (F .Irani). Trainer H J Antia has been asked to take remedial measure before next accepting the race to the gelding.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (SWEET AS HONEY) reported that his mount was inconvenienced on many occasions during the race due to MILLENIUM FALCON (App.Akshay Gaikwad) racing unsettled in front of him.
After the race, MONEYWISE was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(315) – THE MR GREEDY TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 11
On the way to the start, UNCLE CHOICES (S.Zervan) dislodged the rider and bolted. The horse was caught at the starting gate. However, since Jockey S.Zervan was hurt and unable to ride, UNCLE CHOICES was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.
Jockey D.K.Ashish (BELLA LUNA) has been cautioned for shifting in before the red marker.
Near 300 metres, KOAL (Kavraj Singh) shifted in and went on to TURF DANCER (S.Mosin) who in turn caused interference to ROCK IN RHYTHM (I.Pasha). Jockey Kavraj Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Jockey P.Trevor (SHE IS SPECIAL) reported the loss of whip near at about 250 metres. This being the second occasion of him losing the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs. 2,000/-. The Stipendiary Stewards would be further inquiring into this incidence.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (VICTORIO) reported that his instructions were to be in third position but gelding did not have initial speed hence he could not follow the instructions.
After the race, KOAL and SHE IS SPECIAL were found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(316) – THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 15
On arrival at the start, KHALEEFA (App.Bhawani Singh) was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore from the right hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
HYPOTHESIS (Neeraj Rawal) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. QUATRO (I.Pasha) and SNOW BLAST (R.Shelar) jumped out slow, losing about 6 lengths each, at the start. Trainers Nosher Cama, M.Narredu and Altaf Hussain have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Near 700 metres, PRETTY IN PATPONG (Hanumant Singh) shifted in caused interference to PRESIDENT (Kavraj Singh). Jockey Hanumant Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Soon on entering the straight, PRESIDENT (Kavraj Singh) put in an awkward stride and was unbalanced momentarily.
Near 300 metres, KISS THE STAR (Anil Baandal) shifted-in, due to which HUNTING PLEASURE (M.A.Roushan) was steadied for a few strides.
Jockey C.S.Jodha (MY FREEDOM) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ENGLISH LASS, TERRIFIC and SNOW BLAST and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, DOUBLE DIAMOND and HYPOTHESIS were found to be sore by the left fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, IZARRA, BLAVATSKY and PRESIDENT (examined on 12/04/2015) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(317) – THE DR A H SAYED PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 13
SAVANNAH SOUND (App Yash Narredu) did not get a clear run in the straight.
On a report from the Clerk of the Scales that Jockey J.Chinoy, rider of INCENTIO (Placed Third) had failed to weigh in, a Stewards Enquiry was held.
After considering the submissions made by Jockey J.Chinoy, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards, the Stewards decided to disqualify INCENTIO (Placed Third) and revised the order of placing of the race as under :-
HUNT FOR HEADS - FIRST; ABDERUS - THIRD;
STORMY PRINCESS - SECOND; NATALIAN EXPRESS - FOURTH
In the above connection, Jockey J.Chinoy was held guilty of being careless and negligent in failing to weigh in on a placed horse. Therefore, his license has been suspended for 26th April, 2015 and thereafter, should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2015/16, it will be granted to him, however his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 23rd July, 2015 to 1st August, 2015 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ABDERUS and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, WINGS OF GLORY and NATALIAN EXPRESS were found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(318) – THE NARAYANDAS J DAVE PLATE:(About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 9
CHIEF GUEST (S.Mosin) reared up as the start was given thus losing considerable ground. Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
The Sr.V.O. reported that after the race BLUE KNIGHT was checked at the Equine Hospital and found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.6(319) -THE MR GREEDY TROPHY (DIV.I):(About) 1200 Metres. Runners– 13
JORDEN PRINCE (D.A.Naik) jumped out and veered towards the outside thus losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer C.Rajendra has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
An Objection was lodged by App.Yash Narredu, rider of SWEEPING STAR (Placed Second) against ABIGAIL (D.K.Ashish, Placed First). The reason being, in the last 100 metres, ABIGAIL came on to him and took his ground due to which his filly lost her stride and momentum which cost him a certain race.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
In the above connection, Jockey D.K.Ashish has been suspended from riding in races for 26th April, 2015 for careless riding on his mount ABIGAIL (permitted to ride work/mock race).
App.Yash Narredu (SWEEPING STAR) reported the loss of whip at about 400 metres from the winning post. The Stipendiary Stewards would be enquiring into this incident.
After the race, UNDISPUTED was found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(320) - THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners -15
ETERNAL ROYALTY (A.Sandesh) was fractious in the stall and kept rearing up and not allowing the rider to mount. The gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, RARE AND GORGEOUS (App.R.Ajinkya) shifted in and caused a chain reaction, wherein RARE AND GORGEOUS went on to SCARLET OF HOPE (N.Rawal) who went on to THRERE SHE GOES (R.Vaibhav), who went on to GRAND MARCH (Kishore Kadam), who went on to SONG OF AFRICA (App.D.S.Daman) who in turn tightened HEART OF THE CITY (Dashrath Singh), who, whilst dropping back, clipped the heels of SONG OF AFRICA and stumbled. App.R.Ajinkya has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, WIND AND STARS was found to be sound. DIVINE SPARK had lost its left fore plate.
RACE NO.8(321) -THE CHAITANYA CHAKRAM TROPHY:(About) 2000 Metres. Runners– 4
OKAVANGO (Neeraj Rawal) planted and did not take part in the race. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 3rd, 5th & 8th race, viz. IZARRA, AD ASTRA and JACK FROST, and the special sample of MONEYWISE (1st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : CLARIFICATION OF SUSPENSION DATES OF JOCKEY I.PASHA – 1) ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “BALCHANDRA” IN RACE NO.284 – THE SIMPLY GORGEOUS PLATE RUN ON 26TH MARCH, 2015; AND 2) USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT “BALCHANDRA” IN Race No.284 (THIRD OFFENCE):
Jockey I.Pasha’s license stands suspended w.e.f. 19th April, 2015 to 26th April, 2015 (both days inclusive). Thereafter, should he apply for a license for the Season 2015/16, it will be granted to him, however, his license shall suspended w.e.f. 23rd July, 2015 to 22nd August, 2015 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding on his mount BALCHANDRA in Race No.284.
His Jockey’s license, further stands suspended w.e.f. 23rd August, 2015 to 29th August, 2015 (both days inclusive) for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on your mount BALCHANDRA in Race No.284.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH IN RESPECT OF THE FINE OF RS.10,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS FOR INJUDICIOUS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “ROCK THE TURF” IN RACE NO.285 RUN ON 26TH MARCH, 2015 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 11th April, 2015 considered appeal from Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection. Having heard Jockey Dashrath Singh and his Spokesman, Mr.Darren Williams and having viewed the video of the race and having deliberated the matter, the Stewards decided to reject the appeal.

RE : MERCY PETITION FILED BY JOCKEY AMYN MERCHANT IN RESPECT OF THE SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 4TH APRIL, 2015 TO 12TH APRIL, 2015 FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON “KIND DEED” IN RACE NO.264 RUN ON 15TH MARCH, 2015 :
The Stewards considered a Mercy Petition from Jockey Amyn Merchant in the above connection and decided to reject the same.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT OF “COAT OF ARMS” (J CHINOY) JUMPING OUT RIDERLESS IN RACE NO 303 RUN ON 5TH APRIL 2015
The Stipendiay Stewards held an enquiry in the above matter. The video of the start of the race was viewed and it was pointed out to Jockey J.Chinoy that the horse was practically quiet in the stall and he had pre-empted and got off, resulting in the horse jumping out riderless.
The Stipendiary Stewards having heard Jockey J.Chinoy and having viewed the video of the start of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him However, keeping in mind that the horse was a long odds, they took a lenient view and decided to fine him a sum of Rs.5,000/- and warned him to be more careful in the future.
