RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED  6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE)  TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND  THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS  WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge LA FEMME FLEUR in the 8th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(356) – THE  W.BUCKLEY PLATE:(About) 2000 Metres – Runners -  6

 

SAM (S.G.Prasad) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha was questioned regarding the improved performance of his charge SWORD OF HONOUR in this race which the gelding won as compared to its previous run 6 days earlier in Race No.353 run on 20th April 2014 where he had finished eleventh, about 18 lengths behind the winner. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

 

The Stewards after the last race interviewed  Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha in the above connection. Trainer Magansingh  P.Jodha stated that there was no common horse in this race  and the gelding was slow in the previous start.. Also,  he had claimed 5 kg allowance and the gelding ran in a lower Class today as compared to previous time and he had to take a chance as it was the end of the current Mumbai Meeting. Further, he said that the gelding is the youngest  horse in the race aged 4 years and the field in this race was very weak, BLUE SWALLOW who had placed second today, had finished about 4 ¾ lengths behind an 8-year-old horse, TARA in the previous race. The Trainer contended that it was not an improved performance as there was nothing to compare this performance of the gelding.

 

Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha, he has been fined a sum of Rs.10,000/- for contravening the Calendar Notification dated 24th September, 2012 Re “Penalty For Improved Performance Within A Short Span Of Time”.

 

After the race, SAM was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(357) – THE LUCKY PAIR PLATE:(About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  7

 

At the start, NATIONAL GOLD (J.H.Christopher, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to CUMBRE VIEJA (A.K.Pawar, dr.5).

 

Soon after the start, NATIONAL GOLD (J.H.Christopher) shifted in and made contact with CUMBRE VIEJA (A.K.Pawar) and then forced the latter to shift-in, who was awkwardly placed behind the heels of RED RUBY (I.Pasha) who was possibly clipped by CUMBRE VIEJA). Jockey J.H.Christopher has been fined Rs 3,000/-.

 

Soon after the start, MIDNIGHT DANCER  (P.Trevor) shifted-in and went across NATIONAL GOLD (J.H.Christopher) and then shifted-in and made contact with LUCKY CHARM (Shrikant Kamble). Jockey P.Trevor has been fined Rs.2,000/- for not making sufficient efforts to control his mount.

 

MIDNIGHT DANCER (P.Trevor) was inclined to lean-in in the early part of the race. Trainer Sangramsingh N.Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.3(358) – THE  SWEET DREAM PLATE:(About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 6

 

Relying on the report of the Sr.Veterinary Officer that RED FORT was declared to have plain Aluminum and on examination, the colt was found to have Aluminium, Right Hind High Heel,  Trainer Magansingh P.Jodhahas been fined Rs 2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing in respect of his charge.

 

At the start, LEGEND OF THE SEAS (D.K.Ashish) shifted in and caused severe interference to LIGHT OF ARABIA (C.S.Jodha) who was along the rails. Jockey D.K.Ashish has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

RACE NO.4(359) – THE RACING OFFICIALS TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 10

 

MATRIOSHKA (A.Ashhad Asbar) was fractious and reluctant to reach the starting point thus delaying the start. In view of the above, the Starting  Stall Certificate of MATRIOSHKA has been revoked.

 

At the start, LIGHTENING THUNDER (B.Nikhil, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time MATRIOSHKA (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.4) also jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to WIND OF THE HILLS (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.5). At the same time, BONOBO (Kavraj Singh, dr.6) also jumped awkwardly inwards and as BONOBO was steadied, WIND OF THE HILLS  made contact with the latter, who in turn jostled with DANCING SPLENDOUR (T.S.Jodha) who in turn jostled with KAIZER (C.S.Jodha) due to which Jockey C.S.Jodha lost his balance and was dislodged. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated.

 

Near 600 metres BONOBO (Kavraj Singh) stumbled on its own.

 

DANCING SPLENDOUR (T.S.Jodha) lugged-in in the straight and near 300 metres the gelding shifted in due to which SEVEN SEAS (Deep Shanker), who was racing on the inside of the former, was held up for a run. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

MATRIOSHKA (A.Ashhad Asbar) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer S.Shaikh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, LIGHTENING THUNDER was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind cannon. DOUBLE OR QUITS was observed to have lost its left hind plate. BONOBO, KAIZER, DANCING SPLENDOUR, STAR BUILDER  and MATRIOSHKA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(360) – THE BEJAN BHARUCHA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 12

 

App.Yash Narredu (AUTUMN LOVE) has been cautioned for failing to ride out his mount till past the post.

 

TANUSHA (Deep Shanker) did not get a clear run in the straight.

 

After the race, TO THE MOON, TANUSHA and PRINCE ARIUS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(361) – THE  ALVIDA PLATE:  (About) 1800 Metres – Runners – 8 

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey B.Nikhil, rider of CACTUS CASH (Placed Second) against PRESENCE (A.Sandesh, Placed First). The reason being, at about 150 metres, PRESENCE shifted in and took his ground, forcing him to shift out and lose ground, which cost him a certain race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to overrule the objection.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (PRESENCE) reported that his mount lugged in during the race. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, MAMBO MAGIC and PRESENCE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(362) – THE NIGHT CROWN PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 12

 

VIXEN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.11) shifted-in before the red marker and went across SHEER ROMANCE (Shrikant Kamble, dr.10) and continued to shift-in and went across the horses on his inside. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs 3,000/-.

 

HUNT FOR HEADS (D.K.Ashish) did not get a clear run between 300 and 200 metres while racing behind ADVANCE TO CONTACT (Nirmal Jodha).

 

NATALIAN EXPRESS (A.K.Pawar) lugged-out in the straight and near 200 metres carried MIGHTY KING (I.Pasha) outwards. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, HUNT FOR HEADS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MIGHTY KING, DOC HOLIDAY and NATALIAN EXPRESS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(363) – THE TRAINERS TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 13

 

ALEJOR (Shrikant Kamble) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. GIANTLUCK (S.K.Jadhav) jumped out and veered to the outside thus losing about  4 lengths at the start and thereafter trailed the field. Trainers Altamaash A.Ahmed and S.Shaikh have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

The saddle on PAPPILLON (S.G.Prasad) was observed to have slipped back during the race. As such, TrainerHosidar Daji has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

 

LA FEMME FLEUR (Neeraj Rawal) kept an erratic course in the straight.

 

SHAUGHNESSY (A.Sandesh) lugged-out in the straight and approaching 300 metres inconvenienced ALEJOR (Shrikant Kamble). Trainer C.Rajendra has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, LA FEMME FLEUR was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(364) – THE RACING OFFICIALS TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10

 

Trainer H J Antia was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge BURN and the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

 

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia in the above connection. The Trainer stated that the horse had no current form and he did not fancy the gelding and this was a surprise win for him.  He attributed this to the low weight which she carried and had no further explanation to offer.

 

Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia, he has been fined a sum of Rs.10,000/-for contravening the Calendar Notification dated 22nd December, 2000 Re “ Comparative Performance Of Horses Winning Within A Short Span Of Time” .

 

After the race, MOUNTAIN QUEEN was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WIND OF THE NORTH was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10(365) – THE CORNICHE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

 

Soon after the start, SONG OF SPARROW (App.K.N.Bhati) shifted in and inconvenienced RAJSAMMAN (App.D.S.Daman) and CAPILANO (C.S.Jodha), who in turn inconvenienced AINRA (Shrikant Kamble). App.K.N.Bhati has been cautioned.

 

CAPILANO (C.S.Jodha) hung-in in the straight. Trainer C.Rajendra has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, TACHYON was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that RAJSAMMAN was examined at the stables in the morning on 27/04/2014 and found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th, 8th and 9th race, viz. PEPPERCORN, DANCING SPLENDOUR, LA FEMME FLEUR and BURN, and the special sample of MATRIOSHKA (4th race) and TACHYON (10th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: RACE NO:353 – THE RACING JOURNALISTS TROPHY – RUN ON 20TH APRIL 2014

 

Jockey Arshad Alam (ZAAN) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “TUSCANIA” IN RACE NO.237 – THE WASHINGTON IRVINE PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON THURSDAY, 6TH MARCH, 2014 – IN CHARGE OF TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 26th April, 2014 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards/Sr.V.O. in the above enquiry. They interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah who was accompanied by his Spokesman Mr.Haresh N.Mehta The Stewards also heard the Clubs’s Chief Veterinary Officer, Esquine Hospital.

 

The Stewards of the Club after having thoroughly enquired into the matter and having applied their minds to the entire facts and circumstances of the case and to all papers, proceedings reports and records and also having permitted Trainer Mansoor Shah and his Spokesman to make submissions in the subject matter, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Mansoor Shah and held him guilty of  dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent, improper practice and dishonorable action in connection with racing.

 

The Stewards noted that in respect of the positive report in respect of HIDDEN ASSET, Trainer Mansoor Shah’s license already stands suspended till the end of the Mumbai Meeting and thereafter from 24th July, 2014 till 19thAugust, 2014.

 

Therefore, in the present case of TUSCANIA, the Stewards decided to further suspend his Trainer’s license w.e.f. 20th August, 2014 till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2014/15 and thereafter not to grant him a Trainer’s license, if you applied for the same, till 19th August, 2016.

RE: APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB TO SUSPEND HIS TRAINER’S LICENCE W.E.F 14TH APRIL 2014 TO 30TH APRIL 2014 AND THEREAFTER, IF HE APPLIED FOR A TRAINER’S LICENCE FOR THE SEASON 2014-2015, IT MAY BE GRANTED TO HIM, HOWEVER, HIS LICENCE SHALL STAND SUSPENDED W.E.F 24TH JULY 2014 TO 4TH SEPTEMBER 2014 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) – ENQUIRY INTO POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF CH F “HIDDEN ASSET” (WINNER) IN RACE NO. 177 – THE ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV. II) RUN ON 2ND FEBRUARY 2014 – REPORTED POSITIVE FOR “PENTAZOCINE”- TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH WAS GRANTED A STAY ON THE ABOVE PUNISHMENT:

 

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 18th April, 2014 considered an Appeal from Trainer Mansoor Shah. The Board of Appeal studied all documents and papers that were submitted, including his Grounds of Appeal and  considered the submissions made by him and his spokesman, Mr. Pervez Andhyarujina. The Board of Appeal noted that his appeal was only against the decision of the Stewards of the Club for suspension of his Trainer’s license for a period of 30 days for not maintaining a proper Veterinary Log Book and for changing his statements in the enquiry conducted by the Stewards.

 

The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to partially allow his appeal by reducing his suspension from a period of 30 days to 7 days and to impose a fine of Rs 50,000/- on him. His deposit was ordered to be refunded.

 

In view of the stay granted to him on his punishment till his appeal was heard and disposed of, the suspension of his Trainer’s License for a period of 30 days for breach of Medication Rules would be w.e.f. 21st April 2014 to 30thApril 2014. Thereafter, if he applied for a Trainer’s License for the Season 2014-15, it may be granted to him, however, his License shall stand suspended w.e.f. 24th July 2014 to 12th August 2014. Further, the suspension of his Trainer’s License for a period of 7 days for not maintaining a proper Veterinary Log Book and for changing your statements in the enquiry conducted by the Stewards would be w.e.f. 13th August 2014 to 19th August 2014 (both days inclusive).

RE: APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB TO FINE HIM A SUM OF RS.10,000/- AND TO SEVERELY CAUTION HIM FOR THE FUTURE FOR BEING GUILTY OF INTERFERING WITH THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE CLUB & THREATENING THE CLUB’S OFFICIAL WHO WAS CARRYING OUT HIS DUTIES – ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPLAINT LODGED AGAINST HIM BY MR. B.J. BHOGLE, VIGILANCE OFFICER, MUMBAI RACE COURSE – MR. S. KAPOOR:

 

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 18th April, 2014 considered an Appeal from Mr.S.Kapoor. The Board of Appeal having studied all the documents and papers that were submitted including his Grounds of Appeal and having considered the submissions made by him and Mr.B.J.Bhogle, the Club’s Security-cum-Vigilance Officer, deliberated the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject his Appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club to fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/- stands.
