Bred in the purple-Serenity wins in scintillating style

By Bob Sawhny

Pune: Taking into account her impeccable pedigree and her terrific condition, Serenity, the three-year-old filly, by “Diffident” out of “Scenic Royale” ridden by the stalwart and skilful - B. Prakash, stylishly won the 1200M Sweet Memories Trophy, Division II, in scintillating style. Serenity is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Vijay Shirke & family and trained by Maniar K. Jadhav.

The humble tycoon, who happily resides in Pune, has recently gone into horse racing in a very big manner as his recent fabulous luck, in the sport of kings, has paid him phenomenal dividends, especially with his superlative filly Jacqueline.

It will be well worth knowing, that the dam of- Serenity “Scenic Royale” (Reprimand – Mary Bankes) won as many as six races, Rs. 37, 73,130 incl. Nanoli Stud Pune Derby GR.1, McDowell Bangalore 1000 Guineas, Gr.2, Kingfisher Mysore 1000 Guineas, Gr.3, & placed 2nd in Kingfisher Fillies’ Trial Stakes, Gr.1 and was 3rd in McDowell Bangalore 2000 Guineas, Gr.2.

Furthermore, the grand-dam of Serenity, - “Mary Bankes” was the dam of six winners, namely – Tide Of Fortune (8 wins), Scenic Royale the aforementioned dam, Mild Rebuke (3 wins), Scenic Star (7 wins), Star Of Heaven (4 wins) & Majestic Hills (8 wins).

Not to forget, that Serenity’s Sire – “Diffident” (FR) by Nureyev (USA) ex Shy Princess (USA) by Riverman (FR). Diffident won 10 races in France, England and U.A.E. at 2 to 6 (1200m to 1600m). His spectacular strike rate as a first season sire, with 26 named foals, 26 starters and 23 winners is a record, almost impossible to match. Sire of the Indian 1000 Guineas winner and Bangalore Oaks winner from his very first crop.

So, an impeccably pedigree bred filly, as the aforementioned three-year-old, is well worth investing in horse racing in any part of the world. This, is because apart from earning substantial  stake money, the owner / s also get the glorious feeling, of several race goers applauding them, with a lot of clamorous and emotional fanfare, whilst leading in their filly and more so, if they are   privileged to receive a trophy.

And last but not the least, when their classy filly, is retired, the owner/s generally acquire, more than, what they had initially invested in their super-duper filly. So, purchasing blue-blooded fillies at extravagant prices, are at times, well worth it. An appropriate example, very recently, is the stupendous filly Jacqueline, as she should now probably be - worth her weight in Gold!!
