DNA of Pune
Pune: Pune should look at racing as lifestyle and entertainment event and not just a betting platform, says Royal Western India Turf Club chairman Vivek Jain who believes that the racing culture needs a push in the city.
After successfully developing India’s first full fledged monsoon racing track, the racing season in the city has kicked off in great style. Though all the big races will be started from the mid of August after the Independent Day Race, the racing enthusiasts have already started attending the races in good numbers.
Talking about the current season at the RWITC, Jain said, “In Pune, the monsoon racing season is a short term affair compared to Mumbai. Here it spans about 3 months from August to October. People believe that racing is all about gambling but we are trying to make it as the city’s entertainment destination.”
Jain said that they were trying to make racing a form of entertainment on the line of IPL where they could include events like fashion, music, dance and food were also organised simultaneously.
Oktoberfest. The German cultural extravaganza, will be the prime attraction this season where Punekars could experience German food, music, dance and beer, Jain said.
