RACE NO.1 (230) – THE MYSTICAL TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners–12
After being stalled, CHIEFTAIN (D.K.Ashish) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
HANNAH MONTANA (J.Chinoy) lost about 2 lengths at the start.
Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.1000/- for not obtaining a written permission of the Master of App.M.A. Roushan, Trainer Faisal A Abbas, before declaring the Apprentice on his charge RAVE ON.
At the start, DEVILITTO (Dashrath Singh) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside due to which HANNA MONTANA (J.Chinoy) was tightened. MARUDHARA RATAN (B.Prakash) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and jostled with CHIEFTAIN (D.K.Ashish).
Approaching 1000 metres, GOLD VAULT (Kishore Kadam) shifted inwards gradually, due to which INNER HARMONY (App.A.Sandesh) shied away and shifted in and made contact with DEVILITTO (Dashrath Singh). Jockey Kishore Kadam has been reprimanded for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, soon after the start DEVILITTO (Dashrath Singh, placed first) shifted in and jostled with PURE DEVOTION (Vikram Jodha) who was unbalanced and dislodged the rider. Further, Trainer Zadmal Singh also made a verbal complaint against Jockey Dashrath Singh. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.
The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh, the rider of DEVILITTO for careless riding on his mount and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, suspended his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 17th March, 2011 to 27th March, 2011 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
After the race, DEVILITTO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, CHIEFTAIN was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, PURE DEVOTION & MARUDHARA RATAN were found to be sound. PURE DEVOTION had a cut injury at the left hock.
RACE NO.2 (231) –THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB CUP: (About) 1400 Metres, Runners–6
At the start, DEEP PURPLE (Vikram Jodha) jumped out awkwardly due to which the Jockey became unbalanced.
Passing 500 metres, STAR OF ROISES (R.Hughes) rolled in slightly and inconvenienced GUNS N ROSES (N.G.McCullagh).
Near1000 metres, STAR OF ROSES (R.Hughes) shifted in and tightened STARRER (Y.S.Srinath) and later took the latter’s ground and again shifted in and tightened TENDER ROMANCE (S.A. De Sousa). Jockey R.Hughes has been fined Rs. 3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
STARRER (Y.S.Srinath) was forced to travel wide while negotiating the bend as TENDER ROMANCE (S.A. De Sousa) shifted outwards to progress in the race as STAR OF ROSES (R.Hughes) was steadied and slowed down.
Jockeys S.A.De Sousa (TENDER ROMANCE) and Y.S.Srinath (STARRER) have been fined Rs.3000/- and Rs.1000/- respectively for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mounts.
RACE NO.3 (232) – THE RUSI PATEL TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners – 7
Jockey Imran Chisty (SCIONIC) has been fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker.
After the race, SNOWDEN was found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (233) – THE SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres, Runners - 8
At the start, SUPERIOR QUEST (App.M.A.Roushan) threw its head up and went outwards on to HIGHLAND BOUNTY (Satish Nayak) who went out on to PELIKANO (V.Chandrakant) and at the same time PELIKANO was tightened from its outside when HIGHLAND FLAME (Aadesh Kumar) jumped out awkwardly inwards. TALK OF THE TOWN (Ishwar Pardeshi) jumped out awkwardly and was slow to begin.
Soon after the start, HIGHLAND FLAME (Aadesh Kumar) shifted in before the Red Marker and made contact with PELIKANO (V.Chandrakant) and then further shifted in due to which HIGHLAND BOUNTY (Satish Nayak) shifted in and went on to SUPERIOR QUEST (App.M.A.Roushan) who in turn went to RAJASTHAN ROYALS (Y.S.Srinath) who was steadied. Jockey Aadesh Kumar has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS (Y.S.Srinath) lugged out in the straight and forced SUPERIOR QUEST (App.M.A.Roushan) to travel wide, who in turn caused HIGHLAND BOUNTY (Satish Nayak) to travel wider. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey C.Ruzaan (CARIBBEAN QUEEN) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, HIGHLAND FLAME was found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 (234) – THE RACE OF HOPE TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres - Runners –8
Trainer S.S.Shah has been fined Rs.3000/- for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charge SOUND OF RIVER.
STROMICA (Dashrath Singh) lugged out in the straight and near 200 metres inconvenienced SOUND OF RIVER (Imran Chisty). Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, it was observed that the upper tooth of XENIA was broken. SOUND OF RIVER was found to be sound.
RACE NO.6 (235) – THE INTERVALVE (INDIA) LTD TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres, Runners- 6
In the final 200 metres, FROST FAIRY (App.M.A.Roushan) lugged out and inconvenienced SOLOR (Stephane Pasquier). Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
RACE NO.7 (236) – THE MELBOURNE SPRING CARNIVAL-2011 CUP: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners - 9
Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been fined Rs.1000/- for not obtaining a written permission of the Master of App.M.A.Roushan, Trainer Faisal A Abbas, before declaring the Apprentice on his charge ASHWA PRAYAG.
Passing 1000 metres, EYE OF THE STORM (Akash Agarwal) was hampered and lost position while racing on the inside of WALK OF LIFE (App.Akshay) who shifted in as HARLAMOFF (B.Prakash) shifted in as the gelding was being settled.
FREANY (Dashrath Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, CLASSIC STAR was found to be sore by the left fore leg. Also, the gelding had a cut injury at the right fore bulb of heel and an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.8 (237) – THE POONAWALLA BREEDERS’ MULTI-MILLION (GR.1): (About) 1400 Metres, Runners – 9
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, at about 300 metres, AIDAN (S.A. De Sousa, placed 2nd) shifted out to make his move and in doing so, inconvenienced MOUNTAIN GLORY (R.Hughes), PICASSO (Stephane Pasquier), HAUNTING FANTASY (N.G.McCullagh), AMARETTO (David Allan) and PRONTO PRONTO (Y.S.Srinath). After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.
The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.A. De Sousa, the rider of AIDAN for careless riding on his mount and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/-.
SLEDGEHAMMER (C.D.Hayes) was placed fifth and HAUNTING FANTASY (N.G.McCullagh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.9 (238) – THE MYSTICAL TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners–13
TALENTED (Kishore Kadam) kept an erratic course in the straight. UCANDOIT (S.P.Ranjane) lugged out in the straight. Trainer H.J. Antia has been asked to take remedial measures in respect of his charges before next accepting to race.
An enquiry has been initiated in to the comparative performance of CARAMEL and a report will be submitted shortly.

The urine sample of winner of the 5th, 8th & 9th race viz. AL ZAMRUD, PICASSO and CARAMEL as also that of AIDAN, AMADEUS & MARTINIQUE (8th race) and the special sample of DEVILITTO (1st race) and ANGELO (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ARISTOS” IN RACE NO.188 – THE R.N.KANGA GOLD TROPHY RUN ON SUNDAY, 6TH FEBRUARY, 2011 :
The Stewards at their meeting held on 6th February, 2011 had interviewed Trainer J.S.Dhariwal and Jockey C.D.Hayes in the above connection at which time Jockey C.D.Hayes had stated that his mount was lugging-in in the early part of the race and then lugged out and he found his mount uncomfortable and therefore he did not ride out his mount. In view of the above, the Stewards had directed the Club’s Sr.V.O. to examine the horse again the next day and to submit a report. The Sr.V.O. reported that ARISTOS was examined again in the morning on 7th February, 2011 at the stables and was found to be sound. Subsequently the horse was sent for X-Ray examination by the Trainer on 7th February, 2011. The Stewards at their meeting held on Sunday, 27th February, 2011 interviewed Trainer J.S.Dhariwal and Jockey C.D.Hayes. Trainer Dhariwal said that even after the X-Ray Report, the horse was trotting sound and he working very well. He said that the horse has raced in the past in the same condition and except for Race No.188, he has never shown any problem in a race and has won races in the same condition.
Trainer J.S.Dhariwal was informed that in view of the X-Ray Report, it was now up to him to decide whether he would like to continue to race the horse in the same condition. However, if he does so, it would be at his own risk and if the horse shows any discomfort in the race and the Jockey does not ride out the horse, he along with the Jockey, will be liable for severe action.
