RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES UP TO THE WINNING POST.

On a request from Trainer S.S.Shah, permission was granted to Asst.Trainer Roxana Rustomjee to saddle his charge SPIRIT OF MERCY in the 4^th race, at his (Trainer S.S.Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO 1. (356) THE ALCHEMY PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners – 5

STARFALL (Suraj Narredu) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

At the start, EYE OF THE STORM (A.Ashad Asbar) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to LYRICAL SYMPHONY (App.A.Sandesh).

Near 200 metres, ASHWA PUSKAR (Dashrath Singh) drifted outwards as the Jockey used his whip once. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

On questioning, Jockey Suraj Narredu (STARFALL) stated that his instructions were to ride his own race. He said that the pace of the race was slow and his mount was keen possibly due to the Blinkers and he had to ride in check in the early part of the race.

RACE NO 2. (357) THE FOREST FANTASY TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 4

App. M.A. Roushan (STAR TRAINER) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, STAR TRAINER was found to be sound.

RACE NO 3. (358) THE RESOLUTE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8

At the start, APHRODITE (A.Ashad Asbar) shifted in as the Jockey tapped his horse once and went on to AFSOON (Dashrath Singh) and then shifted out on to ARCTIC MINSTREL (Akash Agarwal). Jockey A.Ashad Asbar has been cautioned.

RACE NO 4. (359) THE TRAINERS TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9

OCTOPAUL (J.Chinoy) stumbled at start.

Soon after the start, SONEEYO (D.K.Ashish) shifted in before the Red Marker, as such, Jockey D.K.Ashish has been fined Rs. 2000/-.

Soon after the start, MIRACLE OF MERCY shifted in and clipped the hind heels of STAR SUCCESS due to BY THE WAY shifting in as the latter shied away inwards. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated in the matter.

Jockey Dashrath Singh (SKYWAY) reported that he was tightened by ASLAN (C.S.Jodha) near 1200 metres. The Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race, did not find merit in the complaint as such no action was initiated in the matter.

After the race, ASLAN was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind canon and SPIRIT OF MERCY had an abrasion on at the left fore, above knee. OCTOPAUL was found to be sound.

RACE NO 5. (360) THE SAMUEL NATHAN PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres - Runners – 10

At the jump out, App.Kavraj Singh (MONEY FLASH) lost his right stirrup which he regained shortly.

At the start, SWEET NOTHINGS (A.Sandesh) jumped out awkwardly inwards and made contact with MONEY FOR NOTHIN (App.Akshay). Trainer Imtiaz A Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

App.Kavraj Singh (MONEYFLASH) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process tightening TOMMY CARMICHAEL (Kishore Kadam).

After the race, GOLDEN KINGDOM was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, THRILLER & SWEET NOTHINGS were found to be sound.

RACE NO 6. (361) THE RESOLUTE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 9

Jockey S.S.Baria (SPRINGBANK) has been fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker.

Approaching 400 metres, TEODOR (S.K.Jadhav) ducked in suddenly and went across MEDIATOR (R.Shelar).

After the race, OASIS GOLD was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. Also, the filly was observed to have lost her left hind plate.

After the race, TEODOR was found to be sound.

RACE NO 7. (362) THE RACING OFFICIALS TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 16

Near 1200 metres, HIGHLAND WARRIOR (D.K.Ashish) TELL ME MORE (A.Ashad Asbar) came in contact with each other and became unbalanced due to which both the horses were steadied and lost their respective positions in the race.

Passing 1200 metres, BANANA BOY (App.Akshay) shifted in carried EMERALD STAR (App.M.A.Roushan) inwards on to OCEAN OF FAITH (S.K.Jadhav), who in turn went in on to TELL ME MORE (A.Ashad Asbar). App.Akshay has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Approaching 200 metres, TELL ME MORE (A.Ashad Asbar) shifted in due to which ATLANTIC STAR (S.Zervan) shied away and caused interference to TAG ALONG TOMMY (Kishore Kadam).

Jockey J.Chinoy (WALK OF LIFE) has been reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift-in in the final 200 metres.

Trainer Hosidar Daji was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of WALK OF LIFE. He said that he had not fancied the horse and the horse was at longer odds. Also, there was no common horse. The explanation tendered was noted.

After the race, OCEAN OF FAITH was observed to have upper gum injury. CIRCUS RING, ATLANTIC STAR & TAG ALONG TOMMY were found to be sound.

RACE NO 8. (363) THE GOODBYE PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres - Runners – 12

Trainer Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the registered colours in respect of his charge CUBA. The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours i.e. All Black.

At the start, TZIGANE (App A Sandesh) jumped out awkwardly due to which MUCHO UNO (V Chandrakant) shifted out and at the same time PATEK PHILIPPE (Aadesh Kumar) shifted in as SHABDEEZ (Amyn Merchant) shifted inwards after an awkward jump and in the process MACHO UNO was tightened.

The Stipendiary Stewards have initiated an enquiry into the comparative performance of SHABEEEZ who won this race as compared to its previous run in race No.255 and will submit a report shortly.

After the race, SHABDEEZ was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2^nd and 5^th viz. DEMONSTRATOR & THRILLER and the special sample of STAR TRAINER (2^nd race), GOLDEN KINGDOM (5^th race) and OASIS GOLD (6^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “STUD OF GOLD” IN RACE NO.349 – THE GOLD DUST PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 23^RD APRIL, 2011 WHICH THE GELDING WON AS COMPARED TO ITS SIX PREVIOUS RUNS DURING THE CURRENT MUMBAI MEETING WHERE IT WAS UNPLACED :

The Stewards at their meeting held on Sunday, 24^th April, 2011 considered the Stipendiary Stewards note in the above connection. They interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and having heard the submissions made by him and having viewed the video recording of Race No.349 as also the previous runs of STUD OF GOLD during the current Mumbai Meeting, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia for the reversal of form shown by his horse STUD OF GOLD in Race No.349. In that, the Stewards noted that prior to Race No.349, STUD OF GOLD ran six times during the current Mumbai Meeting 2010/1, in all the races the horse was ridden by mediocre Jockeys and was available at longer odds and finished unplaced. Further, there were two common horses in Race No.349 and the previous Race No.312 viz. BEMISAAL and RAJDOOT who had placed 3^rd and 4^th respectively in Race No.312 and his horse STUD OF GOLD had finished more than 10 lengths behind RAJDOOT and in Race No.349 STUD OF GOLD finished more than 5 lengths of both the common horses, thus showing marked improvement over its previous run. Also, the Stewards noted that there was a change in the running pattern of the horse i.e. in all the previous runs, STUD OF GOLD was settled behind, contrary to his style of running whereas in Race No.349, Jockey S.Zervan settled the horse nicely in 3^rd/4^th position and the horse won the race. Therefore, the Stewards decided :-

a) that should Mr.H.J.Antia apply for a Trainer’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his Trainer’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 21^st July, 2011 to 20^th August, 2011;

b) to fine him a sum of Rs.25.000/-

ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “CONZTANZA” IN RACE NO.312 – THE WINNING HEART PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 4^TH APRIL, 2011 WHICH THE FILLY WON AS COMPARED TO HER SIX PREVIOUS RUNS DURING THE CURRENT MUMBAI MEETING WHERE SHE WAS UNPLACED :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 23^rd April, 2011 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. Having heard the submissions made by Trainer Mansoor Shah and having viewed the video recording of Race No.312 as also the previous runs of the horse during the current Mumbai Meeting, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Mansoor Shah for the reversal of form shown by his horse CONZTANZA in Race No.312. In that, the Stewards noted that prior to Race No.312, CONZSTANZA ran six times during the current Mumbai Meeting 2010/11, in all the races available at 15/1 and above and was unplaced, in the last two starts, having finished more than 15 lengths behind the winner and subsequently the horse was ridden by Jockey S.Zervan in Race No.312 and won well fancied. Therefore, the Stewards decided :-

a) that should Trainer Mansoor Shah apply for a Trainer’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his Trainer’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 21^st July, 2011 to 29^th July 11;

b) to fine him a sum of Rs.25.000/-

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING OF RACE NO.310 – THE WINNING HEART PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 4^TH APRIL, 2011 :

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had enquired into the running of the above race. It was observed that Jockey Harish, the rider of EVANGILIST and App.A.Sandesh, the rider of SIZZLING LOVE had settled their mounts in the rear position in 1200 metres. Having interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah and Jockey Harish (EVANGILIST) AND Trainer Himmat Singh and App.A.Sandesh (SIZZLING LOVE), it was found that both the Jockeys had ridden as per their instructions. Having viewed the video recording of the race and having scrutinized the betting sheets, the Stipendiary Stewards took no exception to the running and riding of any horse in the above race.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING OF RACE NO.317 – THE K.J.K.IRANI PLATE RUN ON 4^TH APRIL, 2011 :

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had enquired into the running of the above race. Having viewed the video recording of the race and having scrutinized the betting sheets, the Stipendiary Stewards took no exception to the running and riding of any horse in the above race.

RE : JOCKEY D.S.RATHORE REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR INDISCIPLINE, IN THAT HE WAS IN BREACH OF THE APPRENTICE JOCKEYS CONTRACT WITH THE CLUB :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 24^th April, 2011 interviewed Jockey D.S.Rathore and Trainer Dallas Todywalla, in the above connection.

Having heard the submissions made by Jockey D.S.Rathore as also by Trainer Dallas Todywalla and having deliberated the matter, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey D.S.Rathore in the subject case and held him guilty of indiscipline i.e. for breach of Apprentice Jockeys contract with the Club wherein it is mandatory to seek prior permission from the Stewards in case he wished to ride at any other centre which he failed to do and rode in races at D.R.C. without permission. However, keeping in mind that Jockey D.S.Rathore admitted his guilt and apologized for the same, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided that should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his Jockey’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 21^st July, 2011 to 20^th August, 2011 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for indiscipline.

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM MR.MOHAMMED SALIM NAIK IN RESPECT OF EXCLUSION IMPOSED ON HIM FROM 6TH MARCH, 2003 TO 5TH MARCH, 2013 FOR ACCEPTANCE OF ILLEGAL RACE BETS AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE ON 13TH OCTOBER, 2002 DURING PUNE OFF-COURSE RACES :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 23rd April, 2011 considered Mercy Petition from Mr.Mohammed Salim Naik in the above connection and having deliberated on the matter, decided reject the same.
