RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS  WERE PLACED 10 METRES AWAY  FROM  THE  ORIGINAL POINT  FROM  1600 METRES TO 1200 METRES, 12 METRES AWAY  AT  1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 14 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinayak  to saddle his charge TABAR in the 4th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (222) – THE  FLYING BRAVE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners–9

 

In the early part of he race, ADAMS PRINCE (C.S.Jodha) shifted in as the gelding was being settled and jostled with HIGHLAND QUEST (Ishwar Pardeshi). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (COUGAR) has been reprimanded for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

On questioning, Jockey Shrikant Kamble (GERRAD) reported that he could not follow the instructions which were to go to the front as he did not get room in the early part of the race due to a tightly packed field.

 

RESOLUTE BAY (Akash Agarwal) lugged out under pressure. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.2 (223) –THE  BLURR PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners–12

 

On questioning, Jockey S.Sunil (ITSDAWNOFRACING) stated that his mount was leaning in throughout the straight and in the process shifted in and made contact with ASHWA PRAHAR (P.S.Chouhan).

 

Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of his charge WINCHESTER in its previous run in Race no 152 run on 23 Jan 2011 where the gelding was unplaced as compared to its run today where the gelding won.  The Trainer explained that the previous race was for horses rated 1 to 26 and this race was for horses rated 1 to 19;  in the previous race the gelding was placed 6th but was only 3 lengths behind the winner. Further, the pattern of running was same in both the races. He added that today’s race was over a distance of 1000 metres which was a furlong short as compared to Race no 152 which was over 1200 metres. He said that the gelding’s best performance was in its previous run where the gelding was placed 6th and then has gone on to win in its immediate next run and that was the maiden win of this horse at the age of 5 years. He went on to explain that there was a common horse, ASHWA PRAHAR, who carried 49 kg and his horse carried 52.5 kg and had finished ahead of ASHWA PRAHAR whereas this time both the horses carried equal weight.

 

The Stewards having considered the above report were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia and directed the Stipendiary Stewards to issue him a show cause as to why action should not be initiated against him by the Stewards in the above connection.

 

 

After the race,  ASHWA PRAHAR was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ITSDAWNOFRACING, CHIEF WARRIOR  & ARABIAN POWER were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (224) – THE M.D.MEHTA TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres, Runners – 8

 

LAKE LEADER (R.Hughes) and THRICE BLESSED (C.Ruzaan) ran green in the straight and were involved in a jostle with each other on a couple of occasions. 

 

After the race, PRIDE OF THE HILLS was observed to have a cut injury at the left fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.4 (225)  – THE  NOBLE OPINION PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metrrs, Runners - 11

 

LEAP OF FAITH (App.A.Sandesh) lugged-in in the early part of the race. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, MCQUEEN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race,  GAMBA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the mare had a cut injury at the right fore cannon. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LEAP OF FAITH was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (226)  – THE  M.D.MEHTA TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres - Runners –8

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, SPRINGBANK was examined at 1415  hours on the race day (24/02/2011). The filly coughed in the trot and was dull, as such, the filly was permitted to be  withdrawn on veterinary grounds. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait was advised to send the filly to the Equine Hospital for further investigations and treatment. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the horse from the Club’s Sr.V.O before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, FLYING KISS (Akash Agarwal) shifted outwards despite Jockey’s effort and went on to RIDING ONTHE STORM (Neeraj Rawal) who in turn shifted out and tightened ITSMYWAY (Vikram Jodha) on to ROMANTIC BEAUTY (R.Shelar).

 

TAU (Dashrath Singh) hung outwards in the straight. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the gelding for mouth and limbs and he reported that gelding was found to be sound, having wolf tooth on either side of the mouth. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

RACE NO.6 (227) – LE GRIS CHEVAL PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners- 10

 

MARIA TERESA (S.Zervan) played up in the stall. The filly was taken out of the stall and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified her fit to race.

 

Jockey R.Shelar (CLAIM TO FAME) has been fined Rs.2000/- for not allowing his mount to take proper jump.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (MARIA TERESA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker  and inconvenienced ANGELS PURSUIT (A.M.Tograllu).

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (RED PASSION) reported that his mount lugged out in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, RED PASSION & MARIA TERESA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (228)  – THE  FEDORA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres,  Runners - 11

 

FALLEN ANGEL (App.A.Sandesh) played up in the stall. The filly was taken out  of the stall and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified her fit to race

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (SATYAMEV JAYATE) reported that his mount was inclined to run out while negotiating the bend. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, FALLEN ANGEL was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (229) – THE NOBLE OPINION PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners – 11

 

TRUE ELEGANCE (App.A.Sandesh) took a fly jump thus losing about 3 lengths at the start.

SUBJECT : CONFIRMATORY REPORT IN RESPECT OF dk b f “ELOISE” (PLACED 3RD)   IN RACE NO.59 – THE GIANTTI BY GITANJALI LIFESTYLE INDIAN 1000 GUINEAS (GR.1) RUN ON SUNDAY, 12TH DECEMBER, 2010  :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Monday, 21st February, 2011 interviewed Tr.P.Shroff regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 18th February, 2011 from LCH, France, in respect of the sample of urine taken from ELOISE (Placed 3rd) in Race No.59 – The Giantti by Gitanjali Lifestyle Indian 1000 Guineas (Gr.1) run on Sunday, 12th December, 2010,  which read as under:-

 

“…..It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analysed as set out above, contains BOLDENONE”

 

A copy of the above report was handed over to Tr.P.Shroff and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

 

Further, as per the Medication Rules,  the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify ELOISE (Placed 3rd) in Race No.59 – The Giantti by Gitanjali Lifestyle Indian 1000 Guineas (Gr.1) run on Sunday, 12th December, 2010, and to revise the order of placing of the above race as under :-

SUBJECT : CONFIRMATORY ANALYSIS REPORT IN RESPECT OF b g “STAR FUTURE” (PLACED 2nd) IN RACE NO.71 – THE CASINO ROYALE INDIAN 2000 GUINEAS (GR.1) RUN ON SUNDAY, 19TH DECEMBER, 2010 -WHICH PLACING WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REVISED BY THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB ON 21/02/2011 WHEN THE RESULT OF THE SPLIT SAMPLE OF OCEAN AND BEYOND WAS REPORTED POSITIVE FOR “BOLDENONE” AND THE SAID HORSE WAS DISQUALIFIED AND “STAR FUTURE” WAS PLACED FIRST, SUBJECT TO THE RESULT OF THE REFERENCE SAMPLE. THE REFERENCE SAMPLE OF “STAR FUTURE” IS REPORTED POSITIVE FOR “BOLDENONE” AND THEREFORE ORDER OF PLACING IN RACE NO.71 HAS BEEN REVISED AGAIN:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 24th February, 2011 interviewed Tr.C.D.Katrak regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 22nd February, 2011 from Equine Forensic Unit, Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from STAR FUTURE (Placed 2nd) in Race No.71 – The Casino Royale Indian 2000 Guineas (Gr.1) run on Sunday, 19th December, 2010 (which placing was  revised by the Stewards of the Club on 21st February, 2011 when the result of the split sample of OCEAN AND BEYOND was reported positive for BOLDENONE and the said horse was disqualified and STAR FUTURE was placed first, subject to the result of its Reference Sample),  which read as under :-

 

“The analysis has confirmed the presence of BOLDENONE in this sample”

 

A copy of the above report was handed over to Tr.C.D.Katrak and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

RE :  JOCKEY C.RAJENDRA REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR IMPROPER USE OF THE WHIP ON HIS MOUNT “REIN IN SPAIN” IN RACE NO.196 – THE ELLE CUP RUN ON 13TH FEBRUARY, 2011:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 24th February, 2011 interviewed Jockey C.Rajendra for improper use of the whip on his mount REIN IN SPAIN in Race No.196 and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him in the subject case. However, since he had already been fined by the Stipendiary Stewards for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount, the Stewards decided not to initiate any further action in the matter. However, he was severely cautioned that on a repetition of a similar offence, his Jockey’s license may be suspended.
