RACE NO 1. (340) THE  S.A.WAHID PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres. Runners – 9

GUERNICA (Shrikant Kamble) and EQUALITY (App.M.A.Roushan) were reluctant to be stalled. Trainers Nosher Cama and Dallas Todywalla have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

URUJ (T.S.Jodha) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

FEMENIST (Aadesh Kumar) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Mangansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

Trainer Sangramsinh N Joshi was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge TAANUSH in this race which the gelding won as compared to all its previous 10 runs during the Mumbai Meeting. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards interviewed Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi in the above connection and having heard him

the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him for the reversal of form shown by his horse TAANUSH in this race. In that, the Stewards noted that TAANUSH had run ten times prior to this race during the current Mumbai Meeting, in all the races being ridden by Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi and the horse trailed the field in all the races. The horse started racing in Mumbai at a rating of 53 and was systematically brought down to a rating of 18. Thereafter, he changed the equipment, ran the horse after a gap of one month, put up a better caliber Jockey and the horse won well backed. The Stewards did not accept Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi’s explanation that it took him ten runs to realize what was best suited for his horse. It was his duty as a Trainer to check, before he started racing the horse, the past records, which he failed to do. Further, he did not declare a better Jockey on the horse even once earlier so as to get a feed back as to why the horse was not performing. Therefore, the Stewards decided to fine him a sum of Rs.30,000/-.

After the race, COUGAR was found to be sound.
