RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF ABOUT 4 METRES FROM 1300 METRES UP TO 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Suresh Chavan, permission was granted to Trainer Himmat Singh to saddle his charge CLOUD COVER in the 7th race, at his (Trainer Suresh Chavan ’s) risk and responsibility.
On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinayak to saddle his charge HI HILAA in the 6th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.
On a request from Trainer Shyam S Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P Shroff to saddle his charges MICHELE MARIECI & PALAZZO GRAZIOLI in the 6th and 7th race respectively, at his (Trainer Shyam S Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (202) – THE FLIRTING VISION PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners–8
STUD OF GOLD (R.Shelar) jumped out awkwardly.
SUN KISSED (D.S.Rathore) lugged out in the early part of the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
NATURELLE (D.K.Ashish) was inconvenienced near 800 metres as LOYAL TYCOON (Akash Agarwal) lugged in. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race with LOYAL TYCOON.
Jockey Akash Agarwal (LOYAL TYCOON) has been cautioned for shifting ground inwards in the final 200 metres.
After the race, SHARP RUNNER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SUN KISSED & STUD OF GOLD were found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (203) –THE CAMPANERO PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres, Runners–6
HISHAM (App.A.Sandesh) reared up as the start was effected.
After the race, HONEY BEE was found to be sound, having an abrasion at the right hind canon.
RACE NO.3 (204) – THE FLIRTING VISION PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners – 9
After the race, THE SAINT was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, ENLIGHTENMENT and THE RIGHT MAN were found to be sore by the right fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, OCEAN QUEEN & VICTORESS were found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (205) – THE PALAZZIO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metrrs, Runners - 8
At the start, MARIA TERESA (S.Zervan, dr.2) jumped inwards and hampered the running of CLAIM TO FAME (S.Sunil, dr.1) due to which the latter could not be ridden to Instructions which were to be in forward position.
Passing 400 metres, the hind legs of ROYAL HUNTER (Amyn Merchant) gave way and the gelding fell dislodging its Rider. The gelding was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to have broken his right hind leg and had severe bleeding from the left nostril. The gelding was euthanized on humane grounds.
Near 200 metres, VIVA LA DIVA (Imran Chisty) shifted in and tightened MARIA TERESA (S.Zervan) who was checked and was forced to change course outwards. Jockey Imran Chisty has been fined Rs. 2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Jockey N.G.McCullagh (OCEAN LEGACY) has been cautioned for shifting ground inwards in the final 100 metres.
RACE NO.5 (206) – THE KLAIRON GOLD PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres - Runners –9
At the request of Trainer P.Shroff, SCARLET PIMPERNEL was examined at 1215 hours on 16/02/2011 and found to be sore by the left hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (SPIRIT OF ECSTASY) reported that his mount was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
RACE NO.6 (207) – THE SHAMAAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Mts, Runners- 16
At the start, NATIONAL IKON (R.Shelar) jumped out awkwardly.
At the start, PROUD STAR (C Rajendra, dr.9) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and went on to SEEN IT ALL (S.P.Ranjane, dr.10).
Approaching 800 metres, TYSEA (App.P.Trevor) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of APPALINA (Akash Agarwal) and lost its position and while doing so, inconvenienced MAJOR WAGER (App.A.Sandesh).
Approaching 600 metres, MAJOR WAGER (App.A.Sandesh) was again inconvenienced as HURRICANE BIRD (N.G.McCullagh) shifted inwards. Jockey N.G.McCullagh has been cautioned.
After the race, MISTRAL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SIZZLING LOVE was observed to have an abrasion at the left nostril.
RACE NO.7 (208) – THE PALAZZIO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres, Runners - 9
Jockey N.G.McCullagh (STAR OF KILLARNEY) reported that his mount lugged out throughout the straight. Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, FLAMES OF FIRE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, STAR OF KILLARNEY was found to be sound.
RACE NO.8 (209) – THE ADOLFITO PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners – 7
Trainer Robert D’Mellow has been fined Rs.3000/- for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charge GATRAVAT.
Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the registered colours in respect of his charge STAR CRUSADER. The horse raced in emergency colours i.e. “All Black”.
After the race, STAR CRUSADER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, FLOODS OF FORTUNE & SEA SPARROW were found to be sound.
RACE NO.9 (210) – THE F.K.VAKIL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres - Runners - 15
There was a dual declaration of Jockey Satish Nayak on PRINCE LOCHINVA by Trainer Narendra Lagad and on HIGHLAND VISION by Trainer S.K.Sunderji in this race. After questioning, Jockey Satish Nayak was permitted to ride PRINCE LOCHINVA and Trainer S.K.Sunderji declared Jockey S.K.Jadhav to ride HIGHLAND VISION. In the above connection, Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been fined Rs.1000/- for declaring a Jockey without confirming the ride with him.
KITE RUNNER (C.S.Jodha) jumped out slow, losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor has been fined Rs.1000/- for using a normal snaffle bit instead of a Rubber Bit in respect of his charge BIG OLD MAN.
Soon on straightening for home, TORA BORA (S.Zervan) shifted out as GREEN SIGNAL (D.S.Rathore) who was racing in front of him weakened and lost position, due to which VISIONAIRE (C.Rajendra) was forced to shift out.
After the race, MONARCHOS was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 8 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, BIG OLD MAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, ABSOLUTE REALITY, VISIONAIRE, KITE RUNNER & TAANUSH were found to be sound.
RACE NO.10 (211) –THE SHAMAAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Mts - Runners –16
At the start, BONNY LIGHT (S.Sunil) jumped out awkwardly.
Soon after the start, RIVER GEM (S.K.Jadhav) was tightened when PHOSPHOR (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted in. Jockey Ishwar Pardshi has been cautioned.
Passing 800 metres, C’EST LA VIE (Dashrath Singh) was tightened and lost position.
Soon on entering the straight, TAMARAI (B.Prakash) shifted out and carried GAME CHANGER (N.G.McCullagh) outwards, who in turn jostled with RIVER GEM (S.K.Jadhav).
An Objection was lodged by Jockey N.G.McCullagh, the rider of GAME CHANGER ( Placed 2nd) against Jockey B.Prakash, the rider of TAMARAI (Placed 1st). The reason being, after turning for home, as he approached the two furlong marker, he received interference from TAMARAI. Thereafter, in the last furlong, TAMARAI shifted out and intimidated his horse and the two interferences cost him the race. The Stewards having heard the evidence of the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their observation of the incident, decided to overrule the objection.
In the above connection, Jockey B.Prakash was charged with Careless Riding. Consideration of the matter was deferred to the next meeting of the Stewards.
Jockey C.Rajendra (SWOOSH) reported the loss of his whip near 600 metres.
After the race, PHOSPHOR was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the mare had an abrasion at the right hock. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, FLYING STAR was found to be sound, having a cut injury on the tongue.
