RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF ABOUT 1.5 METRES FROM 1200 METRES UP TO 1000 METRES.
RACE NO 1. (333) THE AHU PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 8
At the start, FLYING JEWEL (J.Pradeep, dr.7) jumped out awkwardly inwards and at the same time CONSTANTINA (Shrikant Kamble, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly outwards, due to which SWEATY BETTY (S.K.Jadhav, dr.6) was tightened.
ORITO (Dashrath Singh) lugged out in the final 100 metres and caused CONSTANTINA (Shrikant Kambe) to travel wider from her rightful running. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey J.Pradeep was questioned with regard to his riding on FLYING JEWEL in the concluding stages of the race. The Instructions were to sit comfortable wherever he could and to ride out in the straight. The Jockey was observed to have stopped riding about 100 metres from the winning post and he said that he had done so since the horse had coughed. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, the matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed Trainer Hosidar Daji and Jockey J.Pradeep in the above connection and having heard the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tender by Jockey J.Pradeep and held him guilty of failing to ride out his mount past the post, in that, he stood up in the saddle and stopped riding nearly 100 metres from the winning post. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 1st May, 2011 (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was severely warned for the future.
The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Hosidar Daji in the subject case and held him guilty of running of his horse in this race in an unfit condition. In that, he as well as the Jockey both confirmed that the horse had coughed during morning work prior to the race despite which he accepted him to run in this race. After the race when the Jockey was questioned as to why he had stopped riding nearly 100 metres from the winning post, he gave the excuse that he had done so since the horse coughed in the final stages of the race. Further, Tr. Hosidar Daji also admitted that the horse had coughed whilst returning to the paddock. Therefore, the Stewards decided to fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/- and cautioned for the future.
Trainer Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.1000/- for not declaring the use of a ‘D’ bit on his charge ARABIAN PRIDE.
After the race, SAMIEL was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the filly is not to race for the stipulated period of 8 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, WESTERN CHALLENGE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, CONSTANTINA was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. FLYING JEWEL was found to be sound.
RACE NO 2. (334) THE OCEAN BREEZE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 4
BULLET (Dashrath Singh) was restless in the stall and tried to hook its hind on the platform. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, BULLET (Dashrath Singh) jumped awkwardly towards the inside.
ASHWA PAARTH (Ishwar Pardeshi) lugged-in in the early part of the race. Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been as ked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Near 700 metres, ASHWA PAARTH (Ishwar Pardeshi) rolled in and tightened BULLET (Dashrath Singh) who was forced to shift out. Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Trainer Rehanullah Khan was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of SAINTS N SINNERS and the change in pattern of running. Tr.Rehanullah Khan stated that he had instructed App.A.Sandesh to be in 1st or 2nd position, if he can go to front then go to front but do not chase anyone and if he gets the rails then to carry on and do not disappoint the horse. He said that in the previous race which was run over similar distance of 1000 metres, he had instructed the Jockey to be in 3rd position and follow the pace. He explained that he had changed the Instructions this time since it was a small field of four horses and he felt that only HIGHLAND BOUNTY was the horse who could hit the front and also the new owners had asked him to let the horse race freely. He added that on earlier occasions, the horse had come from behind and won races and with the changed pattern also the horse has won. Also there was a change of equipment this time i.e. discontinued Tongue Strap. He said that he had given his horse a chance. The explanation tendered by Trainer Rehanullah Khan was noted.
Jockey Suraj Narredu (HIGHLAND BOUNTY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Being the third offence, the matter was reported to the Stewards. The Stewards interviewed Jockey Suraj Narredu and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount HIGHLAND BOUNTY in the above race. Therefore, the Stewards decided that should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 21st July, 2011 to 22nd July, 2011 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
After the race, SAINTS N SINNERS was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind canon. BULLET was found to be sound.
RACE NO 3. (335) THE PIERCE ARROW PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 4 – NO REPORT
RACE NO 4. (336) THE K.H.IRANI PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres - Runners – 9
At the request of Trainer D.J.Surti, MONEY STRIKE was examined at 0955 hours on 15/04/2011 and found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
In the final 100 metres, STYLISH STROKES (C.S.Jodha) lugged in and went across STAR ZONE (R.Shelar). Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
The Sr. VO was requested to examine the bandages on SEA WONDER after the race and he reported that on examination the bandages were found to be in order.
After the race, BLUE DAFFODILS and SEA WONDER were found to be sound.
RACE NO 5. (337) THE CURSETJEE DHUNJISHAW TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 5
After the race, STAR SYMPHONY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, AMOURESQUE & ANCIENT WONDER were found to be sound.
RACE NO 6. (338) THE RAZA ALI PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 10
GAME OF POWER (Kishore Kadam) lugged out in the straight and inconvenienced FANTASTIC KINGDOM (J.Chinoy). Trainer Nana Raghunath has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey C.S.Jodha (FIERY FORTUNE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Being the third offence, the matter was reported to the Stewards. Also, he was observed to have used the whip improperly wherein the whip has been used with excessive force. The Stewards interviewed Jockey C.S.Jodha and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of using the whip in excess limit as also improper use of the whip on his mount FIERY FORTUNE in the above race.
In view of the above, the Stewards decided :
a) that should Jockey C.S.Jodha apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his Jockey’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 21st July, 2011 to 22nd July, 2011 for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount FIERY FORTUNE in Race No.338 (Third Offence) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
b) His Jockey’s license shall stand further suspended w.e.f. 23rd July, 2011 to 29th July, 2011 (both days inclusive) for improper use of the whip on his mount.
Trainer S.K.Sunderji was questioned regarding the comparative performance of FLYING STAR in this race which the gelding won as compared to his previous runs where he was unplaced. Trainer Sunderji said that the previous four runs of the horse were in a higher class whereas he was running in a lower class this time. He said that the horse had won clocking poor timing of 1 Minute .27.62 seconds. Also, the odds at race time on his horse had drifted a bit. The explanation tendered by Trainer S.K.Sunderji was noted.
After the race, YOUNG OFFENDER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, GAME OF POWER was found to be sound.
RACE NO 7. (339) THE KAZAKH PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres - Runners – 11
Jockey C.S.Jodha (TOWERING HIGH) and App.A.Sandesh (FANTASTIC) have been fined Rs.3000/- each for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process going across LORD OF KILLARNEY (T.S.Jodha) who was checked.
LORD OF KILLARNEY (T.S.Jodha) hung out while negotiating the bend. Trainer Uday Bhan Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, ARABIAN EMPIRE was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of 8 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SWEPT AWAY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, FLAMES OF FIRE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st and 3rd race viz. ORITO & STAR TREASURE and the special sample of SAMIEL & WESTERN CHALLENGE (1st race), STAR SYMPHONY (5th race) and SWEPT AWAY & ARABIAN EMPIRE (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

SUBJECT : POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF b f “HAUNTING FANTASY” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.280 – THE FORBES BREEDERS’ JUVENILE FILLIES CHAMPIONSHIP (GRADE 3) RUN ON SUNDAY, 20TH MARCH, 2011 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 16th April, 2011 interviewed Tr.Karthik G. regarding the positive report dated 14th April, 2011 from Racing Laboratory, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in respect of the sample of urine taken from his charge HAUNTING FANTASY (Winner) in Race No.280 – The Forbes Breeders’ Juvenile Fillies Championship (Gr.3) run on Sunday, 20th March, 2011, which read as under:-
“THE ANALYSIS HAS SHOWN THE PRESENCE OF FORMESTANE”
At this meeting, Tr.Karthik G. was handed over a copy of the above report. He was requested to inform to the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample i.e. latest by 21st April, 2011, whether he wished the split sample of his charge HAUNTING FANTASY to go to The HFL Sports Science, England, C.V.R.L., Dubai or L.C.H., France,, for Confirmatory Analysis and also the name of the Witnessing Analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the Primary Laboratory as conclusive. Further, he was required to arrange the presence of the Witnessing Analyst at the Lab conducting the Confirmatory Analysis within 30 days of him nominating the name. In case he was unable to arrange within this period the Witnessing Analyst after having nominated the name, the Confirmatory Analysis will proceed without the Witnessing Analyst.
Tr.Karthik G. was also asked to conduct his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

RE: ACCEPTANCE OF “AGAIN GALLOP” IN RACES SCHEDULED FOR 09/04/2011 DESPITE THE HORSE BEING ON VETERINARY BAN:
Trainer Janardhan has been fined Rs.1000/- for accepting with his charge AGAIN GALLOP in a race on Saturday, 9th April, 2011 without having the horse passed fit to race by the Club’s VO. The horse was struck out at Acceptance stage.
