RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES TO 1200 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF ABOUT 4 METRES FROM 1300 METRES UP TO 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1 (256) – THE RONALDO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners–8
SUN GLORY (R.Shelar) reared up as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its previous outing, Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race before next accepting to race.
HI DOLLY (Zameer Sayyed) was slow in the strides, losing about 4 lengths. Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
On questioning, Jockey T.S.Jodha (UNSTOPPABLE) stated that he was instructed to be in 2nd or 3rd position but the horse did not respond at all to his urgings. The Sr. VO was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that no abnormality was detected.
Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of his charge TOMORROWS DREAMS. He stated that the horse has been running good races coming in to this race except the previous time in Race No 175 which was over 1600 metres and was on the Derby Weekend where the field was large but the horse was in a good position and the company was also good. He added that today’s race was over 1200 meters. He added that the two common horses – EXCELLTASTIC & BEMISAAL - had both finished behind his horse in Race No.175 and they have again finished behind his horse today. Also, this was the gelding’s maiden win. He said that he had given his horse a chance today. This matter will be further investigated and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, AGAIN GALLOP was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SUN GLORY and EXCELLTASTIC were found to be sound. SUN GLORY had a broken upper tooth.
RACE NO.2 (257) –THE ICEBREAKER PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners–4
At the start, VIBGYOR (Dashrath Singh, dr.3) veered towards the outside despite Jockey’s efforts and took LIVING THE DREAM (J Chinoy, dr.4) outwards. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to show the gelding in morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
Jockey J.Chinoy (LIVING THE DREAM) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to drift outwards near 300 metres.
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of VIBGYOR and LIVING THE DREAM and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, VIBGYOR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.3 (258) – THE NADIA MARY HOMI WADIA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners – 6
BELLISIMA (D.K.Ashish) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey D.K.Ashish (BELLISIMA) reported that his mount ran green and was inclined to lug out during the race. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, JOSEPHINE was found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (259) – THE STAR FORTUNE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres, Runners - 10
As the start was given, MONEY FOR NOTHIN (S.Zervan) tried to duck the front gates thus losing about 3 lengths. ADAMS PRINCE (App.Kavraj Singh) lost about 2 lengths at the start.
RACE NO.5 (260) – THE R.J.KOLAH TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres - Runners –9
Near 700 metres, EQUIANO (Amyn Merchant) lugged inwards due to the presence of HILLS AND STARS (P.S.Chouhan) on its outside and inconvenienced IRRESISTIBLE HUNK (Y.S.Srinath). Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.
Jockey Y.S.Srinath (IRRESISTIBLE HUNK) reported that his mount ran green during the race.
After the race, IRRESISTIBLE HUNK was found to be sound. The gelding had lost its right hind plate.
RACE NO.6 (261) – THE JAYARAMDAS PATEL GOLD TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres, Runners- 12
Near 1000 metres, PERFECT STRENGTH (T.S.Jodha) was tightened for room while trying to ride into the gap on the inside of SOLAR ANGEL (App.M.A.Roushan) and the gap closed as SOLAR ANGEL shifted inwards. App.M.A.Roushan has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Near 300 metres, ROESTI (S.Zervan) shifted in and caused POUND FOOLISH (Shrikant Kamble) to shift in, who in turn caused interference to TWIN SPICE (App.A.Sandesh). Jockey S.Zervan has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Near 200 metres, SOLAR ANGEL (App.M.A.Roushan) lugged in and forced TARA (C.S.Jodha) to shift in, who in turn caused DISTANT PROMISE (B.Prakash) to shift in and make contact with OCEAN WARRIOR (P.S.Chouhan).
Jockey Kishore Kadam (TELSTAR) reported loss of his whip near 1000 meters.
After the race, EYE OF THE STORM was observed to have bruises behind all the four pasterns. TWIN SPICE was found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (262) – THE C.N.WADIA GOLD CUP (GR.2): (About) 2400 Metres, Runners - 7
Near 100 metres, DOI MOI (P.S.Chouhan) was inconvenienced when STRELITZIA (C.Ruzaan) shifted out and at the same time NATIVE KNIGHT (App.P.Trevor) shifted in. Jockey P.S.Chouhan and App.P.Trevor have been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over their respective mounts.
The Sr. VO reported that on the way back after the race, MASEEHA was observed to be sore from right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.8 (263) – THE JASDANWALLA CUP: (About) 1400 Metres, Runners –11
In the process of stalling, PROCYON (R.Shelar, dr.2) who was being backed in, kicked the front gates of the adjoining stall i.e. draw.1, and damaged it. PROCYON was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to have sustained a bleeding cut injury above the left hock and bruises on the right hock and was sore by the left hind leg. As such, the gelding was recommended to be withdrawn from the race. As per norms, ASTON MARTIN (App.P.Trevor) who was in the damaged stall (draw-1), was taken out and restalled in PROCYON’s stall (draw-2) and PROCYON was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to show his charge PROCYON to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. Also, the gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
FLYING JEWEL (S.Zervan) whipped around after jump out and dislodged the rider. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
At the start, CONSTANTINA (C.Ruzaan, dr.5) had her ground taken when STEELY DAN (App.A.Sandesh, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly outwards and DREAM TALK (App Akshay, dr.6) jumped out awkwardly inwards.
Jockey Y.S.Srinath (STARRER) reported that he lost one his reins in the final few strides.
Jockey Akash Agarwal (TELL ME MORE) reported loss of whip near 400 metres.
After the race, TELL ME MORE was observed to have a cut injury on mandible and DREAM TALK was found to be sound.
RACE NO.9 (264) – THE RONALDO PLATE (DIV.I) : (About) 1200 Metres, Runners –9
After the race, OCEAN TREASURE, BLUE DAFFODILS and SUAVEMENTE were found to be sound.

The urine sample of winner of the 4th, 6th and 7th race, viz. AMORA, ROESTI & NATIVE KNIGHT as also that of STRELITZIA & DOI MOI (7th race) and the special sample of VIBGYOR (2nd race), EL CLASICO (3rd race), EQUIANO (5th race) and SUNLIGHT (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : LETTER FROM JOCKEY S.A.De SOUSA REQUESTING TO RECONSIDER HIS CASE – SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 24/03/2011 TO 10/04/2011 & FINE OF RS.50,000/- FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “ASTAPI” IN RACE NO.250 – THE HDIL ENTERTAINMENT MILLION RUN ON SUNDAY, 6TH MARCH, 2011 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 13th March, 2011 considered a letter dated 9th March, 2011 from Jockey S.A. De Sousa on the captioned subject matter and having deliberated on the matter, decided to modify his punishment as under :-
i) To reduce the period of suspension of his Jockey’s license up to 27th March, 2011 i.e his Jockey’s license shall now stand suspended w.e.f. 24th March, 2011 to 27th March, 2011 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race);
i) To increase the fine imposed on him from Rs.50,000/- to Rs.1,00,000/-

GENERAL - MOCK RACE – 13TH MARCH, 2011 :
Trainer Jayantilal K Gor has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce registered racing colours in respect of his charge SUPER KING. The Jockey wore emergency colours i.e. All Black.
