PUNE MEETING 2019, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SUNDAY, 11TH AUGUST, 2019

(POSTPONED FROM SUNDAY, 4TH AUGUST, 2019)

RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 2  METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1400 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 400 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 7 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

RACE NO.1 (27) –  THE KIA ORA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the request of Jockey T S Jodha, the saddle on his mount TIANJIN HONEY was adjusted on arrival at the start.

 

MASTER OF STUDIES (S.Zervan) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Approaching 1200 metres, due to a tightly packed field FOUNTAINHEAD (N. B. Kuldeep) who was racing between RETAINED ASSET (Santosh G.) and HUZZAH’S GRACE (C. S. Jodha), was tightened for room and dropped back thereby inconveniencing MASTER OF STUDIES (S.Zervan).

 

Passing 1000 metres, HUZZAH’S GRACE (C. S. Jodha) shifted in thereby tightening SIR SONG (S. S. Baria) along the rails, who had to be checked and dropped back. After questioning, Jockey C. S. Jodha has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Between the 1000 metres and 800 metres, HI HO SILVER (App.S. A. Amit) was observed to have maintained an erratic course thereby inconveniencing FOUNTAINHEAD (N. B. Kuldeep) and MASTER OF STUDIES (S. Zervan). Apprentice S. A. Amit has been cautioned. 

 

After the race, MASTER OF STUDIES was trotted and found to be sound. SIR SONG had lost its right fore shoe.

 

RACE NO.2 (28) –  THE NELSON RIVER PLATE (DIV.I) : (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Soon after the start, ITHACA (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby inconveniencing HATS OFF (D. A. Naik) and MONK (A. Sandesh). After the race, Jockey P. Trevor reported that his mount was inclined inwards and also running green. Considering that this was the first run of the gelding, no action has been initiated in the matter.

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (LUMINOSITY) reported that his mount was running green.

 

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (MONK) reported that his mount was running erratic despite his efforts to keep a straight course and after the winning post tried to whip around. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, GOD’S DECREE was observed to have a cut injury at both hind pastern. MONK and MAKATI (examined on 12/8/2019) were found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.3 (29) –  THE NELSON RIVER PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres –  9 Runners

 

EYE CANDY (Akshay) was reluctant to reach the starting point and thereafter the filly was reluctant to be stalled. Tr.Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, RAWENO (Vikram Jodha, dr.2) jumped outwards and made contact with JUDY BLUE EYES (A. Sandesh, dr.3) and thereafter whipped around losing considerable ground. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures and show the colt in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting with him to race.

 

Approaching 1000 Metres, MAJESTIC WARRIOR (Dashrath Singh) shifted in and went across ENID BLYTON (Neeraj Rawal) forcing the latter to be checked and change course, due to which CHEPHIRAH (C.S.Jodha) was inconvenienced. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CHEPHIRAH was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, EYE CANDY was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.4 (30) –  THE MOOSA M.HOOSEIN TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

BERNICE (C.S.Jodha) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. GOLDEN ECLIPSE (App.K.Pranil) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainers S.K.Sunderji and A.M.Jadhav have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (TIMELESS DEEDS) was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner in the straight. On being questioned, Jockey Dashrath Singh stated that his mount was hanging-in in the straight despite  his efforts and in order to avoid colliding with the rails, he had used the whip as a corrective measure. It was impressed upon him that he is permitted to use the whip down the shoulder only in the back hand position and he has been cautioned to be more careful in the future.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of BERNICE and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that HODSON’S HORSE showed signs of respiratory distress after passing the winning post. The gelding showed improvement after hosing and was sent to the Equine Hospital for further management.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that BERNICE showed signs of respiratory distress after returning from the race. The filly showed improvement after First Aid treatment. Also, the filly was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ARRECIFE was observed to have an abrasion at the left brisket region. FINDLERHOF was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.5 (31) –  THE TURF CLUB TROPHY (GR.3) : (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, LA RONDINE (S. Zervan, dr.2) jumped inwards and brushed the haunches of GOVERNOR GENERAL (N. S. Parmar, dr.1).

 

After the race, GOVERNOR GENERAL was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (32) –  THE HURRICANE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that immediately after the start, MOONSHINE fell down in front of the starting gate. On examination, the mare was found to have fractured left femur bone.  With the consent of the Trainer, the mare was euthanized on humane grounds.

 

Passing 1000 metres, FRIEZE (A.Sandesh) dropped back thereby inconveniencing CASTILIAN (P.Trevor).

 

After the race, Jockey C. S. Jodha (NOTTING HILL) reported the loss of whip just before the winning post. This being the first instance during the current Pune Meeting 2019, no action was initiated, however Jockey C.S.Jodha has been asked to be more careful in the future

 

After the race, CASTILIAN, HYANNIS and FRIEZE were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th race, viz. PROPERLY POSH, ENID BLYTON, AWESOME ONE and AUGUSTUS CAESAR, as also that of PERFECT STAR (5th race), and the special sample of MONK (2nd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
