Two Objections were lodged in this race. The second objection was lodged by Mr.S.Padmanabhan, the Trainer of TOUCHING THE TOWN (David Allan, placed 2nd) against Jockey S.A.De Sousa, the rider of ASTAPI (Placed first)  for bumping LAKE SUPERIOR in the last 50 metres and causing LAKE SUPERIOR to bump his horse twice, thereby his charge TOUCHING THE TOWN lost a certain race.

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.A.De Sousa for careless riding. Having heard the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race , the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.A. De Sousa. The Stewards noted that this was S.A.De Sousa’s second offence of careless riding in a week’s time. On the previous occasion the Stewards had taken a very lenient view and instead of suspending his Jockey’s license, they had only fined him and warned him to be more careful in the future.
