RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1(76) –THE RAPIDASH PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 7
After the race, SILVER EDGE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BOOMERANG was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(77) – THE HOMI MODY TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 4
Passing 500 metres, LORD OF THE SEA (N. S. Parmar) shifted out and made contact with B FIFTY TWO (P.Trevor) thereby unbalancing itself. Thereafter, passing 100 metres LORD OF THE SEA shifted out under urgings and went across B FIFTY TWO (P.Trevor) causing the latter to stumble and also tightened GLORIOSUS (C. S. Jodha). After questioning, Jockey N. S. Parmar has been suspended for four race days i.e. from 24th January, to 10th February, 2019 (both days inclusive) for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
RACE NO.3(78) – THE APRIL BLOSSOM PLATE:(About) 1600 Metres–Runners - 8
At the start, FLYING VISIT (Robbie Downey, dr.8) jumped outwards and had to be steadied. Thereafter, approaching 1300 metres, FLYING VISIT shifted in thereby inconveniencing ARRECIFE (App. A. S. Peter). After the race, Jockey Robbie Downey reported that his mount was keen and as such, he was unable to settle his mount and thereby shifted in. Not being entirely satisfied with the explanation, Jockey Robbie Downey has been reprimanded.
After the race, STRONG VALUES was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, NOBLEMAN was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(79) – THE LONDONDERRY PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres –Runners- 6
Soon after the start, in an effort to settle, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (AUGUSTUS CAESAR, dr.5) shifted in and made contact with BUSHTOPS (A. Sandesh, dr.4).
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (AUGUSTUS CAESAR) reported that his mount hung out in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, KIMBERELLA and AUGUSTUS CAESAR were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(80) – THE KHEEM SINGH GOLD CUP: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners- 8
Trainer P. Shroff declared Jockey David Allan on his charge HUNT FOR GOLD. Since Jockey David Allan can ride only for the Members of the Trainers Federation of India of which Trainer P. Shroff is not a member the declaration of Jockey David Allan was not accepted. Thereafter, Trainer P.Shroff was permitted to declare Jockey Leigh Roche on his charge and he has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse on his part.
From the 350 metres, DIVINE GLORY (Akshay Gaikwad) was inclined outwards and approaching the 200 metres shifted out thereby inconveniencing TROUVAILLE. (C. S. Jodha). On being questioned after the race, Jockey Akshay Gaikwad stated that his mount was shying away from the other runners. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (PEERLESS) reported that his mount was running green.
After the race, Jockey C. S. Jodha (TROUVAILLE) reported that his mount was running green.
After the race, MISHKA’S PRIDE and PEERLESS were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(81) – THE F.H.TAPIA MEMORIAL MILLION: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 5
From the 400 metres, CAPTAIN COURAGE (P. S. Chouhan) drifted out alarmingly despite the rider’s efforts. After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer P Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, YOUR ROYAL MAJESTY and CAPTAIN COURAGE were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(82) – THE P.D.BOLTON TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11
Soon after the start, PRICELESSGIRL (App. K. Pranil, dr.4) shifted out and made contact with DOUBLE NINE (App. K. Nazil, dr.5), who in turn shifted out and bumped CHARGING TIGRESS (App. D. R. Shubham, dr.6). Thereafter, WILD FIRE (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr.7) shifted in and went across DOUBLE NINE and made contact with PRICELESSGIRL thereby unbalancing the latter and then again shifted out inconveniencing BATELEUR (Akshay). After questioning all concerned, App. P. S. Kaviraj has been suspended for 2 Race Days i.e. from 24th January, 2019 to 2nd February, 2019 for shifting in before the Red Marker (permitted to ride work/mock race).
App. K. Pranil (PRICELESSGIRL) was observed to have maintained an erratic course throughout the race thereby inconveniencing GAZINO (P. S. Chouhan) on more than one occasions and passing 400 metres, shifted in and carried RISING BRAVE (N. S. Parmar) inwards. in view of this, App. K. Pranil has been directed to go to the Apprentice Master to improve his riding skills.
After the race, DOUBLE NINE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BATELEUR, PRICELESSGIRL and CHAPLIN (examined on 07/01/2019) were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(83) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14
Soon after the start, FURIOSA (App. Niranjan S. Parmar, dr.9) shifted in and went across ANATEVKA (Akshay, dr.8) on to REGAL SHOT (Bhawani Singh, dr.7). App. Niranjan S. Parmar has been cautioned.
Passing 100 metres marker, App. H. Zeeshan (NIGHTFALL) shifted in thereby tightening GLORIANA (Santosh G.) along the rails. App. H.Zeeshan has been cautioned.
After the race, WALK ON BY was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, EDEN ROCK was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.9(84) – THE IBRAHIM A.RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 16
At the start, REDS REVENGE (C. S. Jodha, dr.11) jumped outwards and SAWGRASS (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr.12) jumped inwards and made contact.
After the race, SMART VISION, RAIN DANCE and REDS REVENGE were trotted and found to be sound. AURORA AUSTRALIS had lost its right hind shoe.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th race, viz. LORD OF THE SEA, GOLDEN HIND, RUFFINA, IRON AGE and ANATEVKA, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : MOCK RACE HELD AFTER THE RACES ON SUNDAY, 6TH JANUARY, 2019 :
The Starter reported that MADAGASCAR and VINTAGE whipped around after the start. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to give both the horses more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY NEERAJ RAWAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS – SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE FOR 2 RACE DAYS FROM 10TH JANUARY, 2019 TO 12TH JANUARY, 2019 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “JACK FROST” IN RACE NO.65 – THE MAHARAJA JIWAJIRAO SCINDIA TROPHY (GR.2) RUN ON 23RD DECEMBER, 2018:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 6th January, 2019 in considered appeal dated 28th December, 2018 from Jockey Neeraj Rawal in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club considered all papers, documents and proceedings and having heard Jockey Neeraj Rawal, having viewed the video recording of the race and having deliberated the matter, decided to partially allow his appeal and reduced the period of his suspension to 1 Race Day i.e. his license now stands suspended for 10th January, 2019 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
